I bought the Lego hulk and the previously mentioned bionicle and was able to get free delivery as just hit the 20 min spend, so thanks to both posters for those.

Also got the fit bit and to get free delivery got some star wars tattoos for 1.99. Nice little stocking fillers. Great thread, also got the train, pickachoo, pokemon watch.... etc etc. Love this thread!

A tip for those buying bargains/add on items on amazon, add a preorder item to basket to bump up to £20 then cancel the preorder once your items arrive :)

I've done it a couple of times with no issue, tend to choose films currently on cinema :)

Gerudo last year I got a dirt cheap blackboard globe from Sainsburys present section - bought it with nectar points when they had their november offer on. It was just black and had the outline of the countries on, plus chalk so you could do things yourself with it. DC and DH (it was his present!) have had a lot of fun with it; plotting journeys, sports things, colouring in countries or finding and labelling them etc...

I've also got the scratch off maps but from ebay - both ebay.com and ebay.co.uk have lots depending on what size you want. And if you're prepared to bid you might be able to get some for pennies/cents from Chinese sellers. But even the standard buy it now ones come in much cheaper than the groupon one - this one is £3.50

The Works often have a big world map for sale - maybe 1.5m x 1m in size (very approximately - I bought it for dh as he likes maps and it's still rolled up as it's too big to go on his wall GrinBlush - but it was only about £3-4.

I've also bought (can you tell we like maps in this household!) artyfarty maps - we have one that was made of words that the dc like because you can see the country name really easily and it's a bit different. Can't remember who we got it from but if you google world word map canvas or look on ebay there are lots. In fact just look on ebay for world map and there are loads of different sorts - there are nice decal ones to stick straight onto the wall (some coloured, some in blackboard stuff to write on yourself) for just a few pounds.

If anyone sees any deals on Lego friends, I'd be so grateful also after book recommendations for DN. Finding this extremely difficult as she is quite young for her age. I loved Jacqueline Wilson at that age but they are too old for her, she isn't into Enid Blyton either. Does enjoy the David Walliams books though! TIA

GerudoValley · 04/09/2016 22:14

Thanks confuugled1! I haven't got a groupon account actually and your ideas are very interesting! Maps are fab presents aren't they!

EnglishRose1320 · 04/09/2016 22:18

Thanks imsorryiasked, tempted with the doctor who ones, also spotted they had pokemon ones which would be his top choice but not such a bargain, when you get use to bargains it's hard to pay full price for things, even when they aren't that pricey!

cookiefiend · 04/09/2016 22:20

Babame have some offers on tonight including some our generation dolls down to about £34- can't remrmber who was looking, but be quick! Also some lovely wooden La van toy toys like the wooden pram greatly reduced. Think it will end midnight.

digitalpaintartist Have you looked on thebookpeople.com for book ideas?

They often have sets of books that are good - and if you sign up to their email list or watch on these threads, they often have offers or sales of some sort so don't ever buy from them without getting some sort of a discount!

I have ds rather than dd so not really into girls books. And not sure what her exact age is - somewhere between 7 and 9 I'm assuming if she likes David Walliams.

Guessing she will already have got Roald Dahl books - they're always a good bet if not, and they're currently £22 a set of 15 books on Book People (with money off if you spend over £30 or £40)

They also have a David Walliams collection if she hasn't already got them, a Mary Poppins collection, all sorts of things by less well known authors but around a theme if she likes something like princesses or creatures etc. Even something like the Wimpy Kid or Michael Morpugo?

Then there's things like learning to draw books or factual books or Where's Wally for something very different?

And finally - there are lego Friends books if the lego friends set is also for her - could tie the book and present together?

99percentchocolate · 04/09/2016 22:43

Thank you smurfy Flowers

Cabawill · 04/09/2016 22:43

Off to have a look at those links now- thanks!

digitalpaintartist · 04/09/2016 22:54

Thanks confuugled1. DN is 12 but quite young for her age which is why I'm finding it quite difficult. Books I was reading at her age aren't appropriate for her. Will check out the book people though, thanks again. Lego friends isn't for her but 9yo DN.

RedLarvaYellowLarva · 04/09/2016 22:58

Hair towel things from Cuddledry, two beige ones for £10 - half price, plus free P&P: www.cuddledry.com/shop/37/offers. Nice little stocking filler, gonna split them so DC have one each.

FeelingSmurfy · 04/09/2016 23:01

Book ideas -
Judy Blume (any but I really recommend fudge series)
Diary of a wimpy kid
Roald Dahl
Jacqueline wilson has sone books aimed at a younger audience (werepuppy springs to mind, but there are around 10 of them)

Darkswan · 04/09/2016 23:07

digitalpaintartist My DD1 likes these www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/qs_product_tbp?productId=647414&storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=100 and My Little Pony books. She is only 6, but quite good at reading. I liked Saddle Club and Babysitters club at 12, but not sure if you can even still get those anymore!

FeelingSmurfy · 04/09/2016 23:16

I liked babysitters club too, and no you can't get them anymore Sad

QOD · 04/09/2016 23:20

Scooby doo adult pjs or t's or dressing gown anyone?

LavateLasManos · 04/09/2016 23:32

QOD if you don't manage to source any Scooby Doo stuff, I'm sure I've seen T Shirt transfer paper cheap Home Bargains.
So you could print out your own design and iron it onto a cheap top

FeelingSmurfy · 04/09/2016 23:40

QOD there are plenty of tshirts to choose from, could you pair one of those with a pair of pj bottoms? Most places sell them separately now

I can see a few adult scooby pj's but they all seem to be American

BanoffeePieIsMyFave · 05/09/2016 06:53

QOD lots of men's scooby doo tshirts to choose from here but sorry, can't help re pjs or dressing gown. Hope you get sorted!

d270r0 · 05/09/2016 06:57

Can't resist mentioning the Maisto rock crawler (remote control truck ) again as its come down to only £7.86 now. Ended up buying another two of them- although don't know who for- as its such a good deal.

Highly recommend- fantastic for outside. Goes over things, over grass, mud, sand, up slopes etc. Ideal for age 4+ I would say. My 5 year old ds takes it to the park etc. and wherever he goes with it he ends up with an adoring fanclub of kids following him round and wanting a go.
