Evening all!

Like last year, whilst Reastie takes a well deserved break, i am taking up the flag to start a new prequel thread.

Because again finishing the last one is depressing.

So....whose got any bargains?

Another IKEA kitchen fan. We bought it for DD's 3rd birthday but DS has played with it since about 18 months old. Any visiting children up to about age 6 always play with it. One word of warning it took DH quite a while to construct but it is in perfect condition nearly three years on and with lots of play.
We've also got the IKEA pans and the vegetable set - the lettuce in particular a big hit as you can peel individual leaves off.

Whataboutwhathuh · 02/08/2016 20:19

My ds2 plays with it now at 10 months (he's walking and has been very mobile for some time so very steady on his legs) and my ds1 had it for his second Christmas at 20 months. Years of play in it.

wigglesrock · 02/08/2016 20:28

Dd3 got the IKEA kitchen for her 2nd birthday - she's now 5.5. It's played with regularly not just by me. It looks great, worn well, held together Grin. A tip - just buy the £1 plastic plates/beakers from IKEA to play with - they fit in the cupboards etc really well. The ceramic ones are gorgeous to look at but can bang off the hob bit - oh the hob lights up

Whataboutwhathuh · 02/08/2016 20:44

Agree about the plastic bowls / plates / cups. I bought play pans from Amazon, Melissa and Doug ones.

Just popping on to say thanks chips for the update, I will be preparing a new thread when this one is nearly gone (don't get excited as I haven't built up links yet, sorry).

I went shopping today and got two Christmas presents for myself from home sense (some fancy to do lists, I do love a good to do list) and some jaegar socks for FIL from tkmaxx.

Coming in on the end of the toy kitchen chat, DD has a wooden toy kitchen (not an IKEA one specifically) and it's been a great investment. She got it for Christmas when she was one and she's now five and it still gets played with alot. I really recommend getting some nice food to go with it. We have a great Melissa and Doug pizza set and some cakes on a little cake stand and some wooden fruit you can cut up as they Velcro together and they are so popular to play with with both DD and any friends that come over.

Whatdoesaduckdo · 02/08/2016 21:14

Also kitchen related.
In last years sainsbo toy sale (usually the day before Halloween half term) I got lovely little wooden cup cakes , tea set, cake stand, wooden utensils all half price I think I spent £10 and I really did get a lot - it's been used by my girls in a daily basis for afternoon tea for their teddys

nickdrakeslovechild · 02/08/2016 21:40

I got the origional Asda kitchen 4 years ago and its been played with every single day, along with the ikea felt food and the sainsbuys wooden cakes! Such a great buy.

Organisednotobsessed · 02/08/2016 22:19

Thanks for the Mermaid Tails link. I've just ordered one for my DD's stocking. Now wishing someone would buy me one Smile

Organisednotobsessed · 02/08/2016 22:27

Another vote for the IKEA kitchen. You can store loads of food and crockery in it too if you buy some of those plastic baskets. The finishing touch for ours was an empty M&S mini plastic wine bottle with the top superglued on!

woodwaj · 02/08/2016 22:41

Not christmas related but some baby bargains in my local boots (trafford centre)

They also had those £50 jack wills bags from last xmas filled with goodies for £10 nails inc pack of 5 crackers for a fiver and loads of other photo albums all for £2

Anyone know if Christmas wrap is out in Costco?

Emptywishingwell · 02/08/2016 23:47

Random find today but Disney infinity 3.0 Star Wars power disc rise against the empire set £1 in tesco good for a stocking filler if you have a Star Wars infinity fan

Gooseysgirl · 03/08/2016 00:30

Our play kitchen is this one from ELC http://www.elc.co.uk/Retro-Diner-Kitchen/141199,default,pd.html It's fantastic but we did not pay £150 - got it half price. It's played with almost every day, DD now 4.5 and we've had it since she was 2. Her younger brother loves it too. Whichever one you go for, don't underestimate the amount of time it takes to put the fecking things together!!! My DH and BIL (pretty competent usually at self assemble stuff took several hours!). We also have the Asda wooden toy shop/cafe, great value at around £35 (I think) and also gets played with regularly.

MrsCrimbo74 · 03/08/2016 09:40

Jumping on the kitchen and wooden toy bandwagon, I bought this gorgeous personalised wooden tea set back in May and it's now reduced to £12.49 from £25.00. Highly recommend.

Ooh I love this thread! I found it so useful last year.

My first contribution this year... I picked up a scramble bug for £8.75 and a scuttle bug for £7.25 today in Asda. They usually retail for around £30-£35 so a real bargain
