Evening all!

Like last year, whilst Reastie takes a well deserved break, i am taking up the flag to start a new prequel thread.

Because again finishing the last one is depressing.

So....whose got any bargains?

Are Yankee candles good? I was tempted but have never tried them before. My definition of good is a strong, long lasting scent.

candykane25 · 31/07/2016 19:45

Yankee are good, I prefer the large candles to the tealights though. The votives are good too.

Roxy is having a final clearance sale, if you buy three items you'll get 10% off and 20% off if you buy four or more. You can also get an additional 20% off your entire sale order with the code VIPSALES. There are some good deals on bags and shoes.

Just seen this on another site Inside Out toy £7 delivered RRP£29

butterflymum · 01/08/2016 10:17

Our local Tesco had this Flip! Football Card strategy game reduced to c£1.25 (from memory). Might be worth checking Toys aisle in your local stores to see if it is a 'national' offer. Bought it as a stocking filler on another offer last year and seemed to be appreciated. Currently about £4.99 on Amazon.

Now it's August I can start thinking about Christmas :-) Wahoo!

MrsCrimbo74 · 01/08/2016 15:44

This is a link for a personalised wooden fairy house, it's gorgeous and comes up quite big, I've already ordered one about a month ago and it's only £12.99. Gorgeous for any little ones that love fairies;

My DS will be 9 months old come Xmas, would it be silly to start looking at presents now (obviously things that will be age appropriate) or shall I wait and see what he is "into" nearer the time?

Are babies even "into" anything anyway? Grin

MrsCrimbo74 · 01/08/2016 15:52

No way PixieMiss, start shopping now, just buy things appropriate for a one year old and you're sorted.

The earlier you start shopping the earlier you can get excited, or is that just me? :-)

candykane25 · 01/08/2016 16:01

Pixie, happyland is a good investment at that age.

SimplyNigella · 01/08/2016 16:07

My DS was 11 months at his first Christmas and I bought ahead for toys for a 12-18 month old. He happily ate the wrapping paper and mostly ignored the contents but got lots of use out of everything as the months went on.

His favourite were Uncle Goose wooden building blocks (ELC do nice ones too), a wooden bead maze, Happy Hopperz cow and a ELC wooden kitchen walker.

FireflyGirl · 01/08/2016 16:40

PixieMiss DS was 9 months last Christmas. I used these threads to get Vtech Toot Toot things for less than half RRP (I posted up thread about these in Argos at the moment). He has the hospital, house and garage, and he loves them! He has played with them right from the start, even though they say 12 months+. Also look out for Hide and Squeak Eggs if anyone mentions them.

We've got the Happyland Village for this year (reduced from £100 to £40 then 20% off at ELC earlier this year).

General question out of interest; DS will be 21 months - is it worth wrapping it, or would it be better to just set it up on the floor for him?

If anyone is wondering the same about the Vtech stuff, I'd say get it out and put it together before Christmas Day. There are stickers to put on, and some of the bits were tricky for DH and DSIL Grin

PixieMiss · 01/08/2016 16:58

You people are brilliant Grin

SimplyNigella · 01/08/2016 19:17

Firefly DS was 23 months last Christmas and liked the unwrapping almost as much as the presents. We put a blanket over his kitchen rather than try to unwrap that, but everything else was wrapped. He got the concept more than I expected him to.

woodwaj · 01/08/2016 23:01

DS was 9 months last christmas. He liked his abacus (and still does!) His cozy coupe car. We got the toot toot things but hes just not interested in them. I have an unopened one in his wardrobe i think its a garage?! And a safari that takes up way too much space! He likes anything that spins! This year on my list is some of those cotton reels you thread onto string...and thats about all ive come up with 😃

Icklepickle101 · 01/08/2016 23:07

How long do the mermaid blankets take to arrive please? I have a birthday next Sunday and it would be perfect!!

OreoHeaven · 01/08/2016 23:09

BanoffeePieIsMyFave · 02/08/2016 06:31

Great thread...though it's so tempting it may not be great for my bank balance Grin
On the lookout for Lego classic if anyone sees any good deals?

HoggleHoggle · 02/08/2016 08:47

Does anyone know of places that ever have discounts/sales on WOW toys? Ds would love the ambulance but it's £27, just a bit more than I'd ideally spend.

Whatsername17 · 02/08/2016 09:16

Dd's birthday is done so I'm starting on Christmas! It's good to be back!

candykane25 · 02/08/2016 10:04
