We don't particularly encourage the asking for things, but we do try to get things we know they'll like.

Dd, 5.5, wrote a letter to Santa at school last week in which she asked for

some jeans
that her baby brother wouldn't have to have many more jabs

Sorted that. Ds2 just had his 4 month jabs, and needs no more till August.
Am hoping purple trousers pass for jeans on Monday.

LazycowLyinginaManger · 19/12/2006 10:28

Do you really ask children this young what they want? TBH it had never occured to me to ask DS what he wants (he was 2 in November).

I wasn't planning on asking him next year either. I will probably ask him when he starts school.

Mind you some of the lists on this thread are really sweet so maybe I should ask just to see what he says! Would be much cheaper if I could get away with an apple, a ball of string and some chips

Nemoinapeartree · 19/12/2006 10:38

lazycow I didnt ask ds last year just guessed and havent asked dd[she is just 1] and wont ask her next year. However by age 3 they do have clear ideas about their preference for toys..

fridascruffs · 19/12/2006 10:40

I once bought an acre of land on the Moon for about eighteen quuid, can't remmbewr where now but you'll find it on hte net.

LazycowLyinginaManger · 19/12/2006 10:50

Well I'm not wedded to not asking him. I just didn't think to this year. Will see what he says when he is 3 next year.

I am loving these lists!

fridascruffs · 19/12/2006 10:53

I asked DS (2.6) what he wanted, he doesn't really know what Christmas is yet but he said 'A Nemo fish' as he's obsessed with a David Attenborough DVD that has killer Wales and vicious killer fish with big teeth, and he likes the sharks in Finding Nemo. Luckily i'd already got him a little swimming Nemo for the bath and a shark too, so I'm happy .

DingdongMegaLegsonhigh · 19/12/2006 10:58

DS3 (aged 3) wants

a fast car
Paper and pencil and lots of cars
racing cars
racing down cars
some hot wheels
some lions
some giraffes and monkeys
some vampires ( a 'tend one)
racing up cars
another lion.

I see a theme developing here.

KTreePee · 19/12/2006 11:15

I'm thinking the brown present is just one wrapped in brown paper - one of my ds's wanted a "red present" one year and they were happy with something wrapped in red paper.

Ds2 told dh that he thought mummy would like a power ranger for Christmas. Dh persuaded him that I probably wouldn't so ds2 thought for a while and then pronounced that he wanted to get me some toothpaste!

noogles · 19/12/2006 11:18

My ds 3.8 wants blue play doh.Not the one in the tubs oh no the one his school makes!!! Luckily i got a recipe from a fellow mumsnetter to make his wish!!! His other items were normal bits and bobs but mainly associated with LAZYTOWN (a computer like pixel,a sportacus costume, lazytown album etc)

PeachyIsNowAChristmasFruit · 19/12/2006 11:23

He is going to be an amzing author when he frows up- what a sense of the surreal in one so young

My older two have the acquisition thing sussed (sadly) although keep changing mind so disappointment possible as all wrapped now (bet they won't remember though). DS3 was given a postman pat annual and seems to be more than satisfied with that, TBH!

Our big mystery is..... just who on earth did I buy the 20kg of fertilisr (oxfam gift), AKA animal poo, complete with pic of animal produicing said poo for? Trying to suss that one caused ds1 much hilarity last night

BudaBauble · 19/12/2006 11:24

I asked DS (5) what he thought he could get Daddy for Xmas - he said a "big bucket of soil"!

PeachyIsNowAChristmasFruit · 19/12/2006 11:25

See budababe, he's after my animal poo....

BudaBauble · 19/12/2006 11:28

Obviously!

Babyramone · 19/12/2006 11:28

These are brilliant. My 3 year old DS wants a car transporter (easy) and a thing that goes round and round??? Whirls his arms round fast while asking.

PeachyIsNowAChristmasFruit · 19/12/2006 11:31

Toys r us used (probably still) to do a whirly thing, which you sat on and it spun you round and tound- has he seen one of those I wonder?

Or does he just like to get dizzy?

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 19/12/2006 11:33

Sit and spin?
Like this?

PeachyIsNowAChristmasFruit · 19/12/2006 11:38

That's exactly the one I meant Tortoise

DS3 seems to have a load of rubbish this year, just had no idea what to get. Interactive postman pat, leapfrog karaoke (all to encourage language as he is speech delayed), and DVD'sas the only things he likes are Thomas, Pat and DVD's.

Was getting him a remote control Thomas, as main, but told Mumand she said 'don't bother, I am nicking your idea' . git

Frostythesurfmum · 19/12/2006 11:50

I am loving this thread, it's so funny.

DD (3.6) was a doddle, having asked for a Polly Pocket house consistently for weeks. But within the last fortnight she's also been asking for a real baby for all of us .

3Ddonut · 19/12/2006 12:29

Thankyou for that link WewishU that looks exactly what he's on about!

fiiiivemadmarchhaaaares · 19/12/2006 12:35

These are fab

DS wants a 'real tiger that actually really bites heads off'.

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 19/12/2006 12:35

dd 4.3 dictated hers to me, here it is verbatim (I photocopied, all the words are hers)

Dear Father Christmas

I would like a bouncy tigger and a tigger scooter
I would like a toy cat and it will be called Eddiecat

Father Christmas hairclips
A new cup with a reindeer on it
A new leopard
A new lovely sweet
A new cushion
A new jumper

I'm going to be a very good girl and do what my Mummy and Daddy ask me.

I hope your reindeer and your elves are well.

I will leave a biccy and wine for you and carrots for the reindeer

Lots of Love
Babydrac

(a billion kisses)

LemonTart · 19/12/2006 12:39

wish mine were less "label specific" and had lists like yours..
mine is all Barbie, Baby Annabel, Little Pony, Polly Pockets etc very dull compared to you lot!
Wish I could shop for toilets of doom!!!

corrina28 · 19/12/2006 12:43

ds2(2) when you ask him what he wants for christmas jumps up and says "sportacus yay" and then danced about.

ProfYaffle · 19/12/2006 12:48

DD (2.8) changes her mind on a daily basis. Today she requires a dinosaur and snow outside.

Marne · 19/12/2006 13:05

Dd1(3) wants,

A beach ball
Fatfer christmas to come over for dinner
Fifi and the flower tots
A shopping trolly
And some rubber gloves
