Two weeks till Easter , lots of planning (Yes!) and decorations (Again -Yes!)
but over a shorter time scale.

Need to look at Easter Eggs for the DC and decide what's for dinner over the long weekend

lollyj84 · 13/03/2016 10:50

I have bought an Easter tree from hobby craft and a few little decorations to hang. We normally go away for Easter but not this year so thought i would put decorations up.
On a christmas note, i ordered some xmas bedding for Ds's as i left it to late last year.

Paperblank · 13/03/2016 21:40

I bought easter cards today 🐥🐣. There are loads of decorations in Tesco, so I am hoping that I can pick up a few bargains for next year!

Bought items to make an Easter Bonnet yesterday, in case school spring it on us last minute. But DD and I are agreed we will put them away for next year if not - they will revive the usual procedure (Easter Bonnet Parade as school finishes) then, just a Flag Raising ceremony the day before this year because of the Centenary of the Risin'.

Feels very wintry here - it's dull and chilly outside. I can't wait for the warmth of spring and apparently we will be having a heatwave! 🌞

lollyj84 · 15/03/2016 14:41

It chilly here too. Where are you? A heatwave sounds lovely, but then they said we would gets months of snow and i haven't seen one flake❄

Paperblank · 15/03/2016 19:11

I'm in Aylesbury Smile

It's been nippy all day and I am considering putting my electric blanket on!

I have been hoping for snow but so far we're the same...not so much as a flake.

lollyj84 · 15/03/2016 20:42

I'm in London. Had heating on at work all day, been bloody freezing. The house is nice and toastie thoughSmile

I'm feeling so festive lately. I might even put some Christmas music on while I do the housework later!

TheWoollybacksWife · 16/03/2016 10:09

I bought Christmas crackers last night. I needed something for a few pounds so that my order qualified for free delivery and got a £20 box of crackers for £6 and they are the right colours for my table.

DH will no doubt be Xmas Hmm when they arrive but Christmas magic doesn't just happen from 24 December, dammit.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/03/2016 16:04

Woolly write on your calender , on Decembers page, where the Christmas crackers are. Otherwise, they'll be nowhere to be found and you'll never get the same bargain at Christmas.
There is something really satisfying about getting something just right for a bargain price Xmas Grin

My December 1st last year said "Batteries".
I was "Eh?" then realised I'd written my reminder back in January to buy the batteries for the door wreath (pre-lit with a timer, takes 3 of the huge batteries)

Actually, I still have last years crackers, cream&gold to match my table setting last year. They didn't emerge from the sideboard ...[sigh]

TheWoollybacksWife · 16/03/2016 16:51

As I'm safe here with like minded adults I can admit that since I had my kitchen extended and refitted a couple of years ago I have both a Christmas cupboard and a Christmas drawer.

I store my charger plates, serving dishes and special Christmas crockery in the cupboard. Rolls of wrapping paper and the Christmas stockings are in the drawer along with my tablecloths, table runner, fabric advent calendar and tree skirt. When my lovely bargainous crackers arrive they'll go straight in the cupboard. Xmas Grin

I must write batteries on the calendar for my November big shop though - that's a brilliant idea. I use them in battery operated lights for the mantle and banister decorations.

Christmas Cupboards Xmas Grin
They bring such joy don't they.

I have a Naice Crockery and Bits Cupboard (Portmerion,Spode and some BHS Ivy)
And a Christmas Cupboard (my Robin milk jug has pride of place, trifle bowl, glass sweetbowl)

Every so often, I open the doors and just sigh contendedly.
And squeeze something new in....................

Paperblank · 16/03/2016 19:38

I am desperate to have Christmas crockery, the T K Maxx near me had loads in last year and for the life of me I cannot think why I didn't buy any last year.

I bought a table runner and napkins from Sainsbos last year, unfortunately it didn't wash at all well so I have a perfect excuse to buy another one this year.

In my forever house I plan to have a section of the loft specifically kitted out for Christmas storage!

lollyj84 · 16/03/2016 19:41

I bought Easter eggs today. I normally leave it to the last minute and then get all the rubbish ones that are left over. I manged to get Dh a mint flavoured match makers egg, which i'm sure he will love. Santa normally leaves a box of them in his stocking. The easter bunny has finally cottoned on.
i had a dreadful day at work, think my manager has lost the plot so while walking round getting the eggs I found a spiced berry candle, which smells like xmas. So think i'll run a nice hot bath and light my new candle.

I'm usually a last-minute-easter-prepper, but lolly is convincing me to change my ways! I have a free afternoon today, so I might just get it all done. Which supermarket has the best Easter stuff this year?

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/03/2016 08:51

I'm at a massive family event over Easter weekend so have had to buy chocs for all my nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. So I bought the Aldi chocolate bunnies. They taste great and they are only 99p each.

I haven't bought anything yet for my own children so will probably be panic buying at the weekend...

lollyj84 · 17/03/2016 10:24

I got mine in tesco. They had a few deals on like 2 for £5. Some of the milky buttons/smarties and freddo faces were £1.50 each.🐣🐰

BathshebaDarkstone · 17/03/2016 10:29

I've just bought all the stuff for the Easter bonnets for the school parade. The DC want toys from the Easter bunny this year, but they'll get chocolate from relatives. Smile
