OK, we paid 185 quid for a Wii, they're going on Ebay for 500 odd quid shall I flog it?

Ds hasn't expressed the remotest interest in a Wii and doesn't even know what one is (it's a new games console for anyone who doesn't know, release date today) but we have one for him for Christmas, which arrived today. Ds will totally love it, as will dh.

But they're selling for ?500 odd on ebay, so that's a ?300 profit, shall I flog it and get ds something else? And get dh a Wii after Christmas when they're ?180 again?

Votes please, what would you do? (we don't need the cash as such but it's SUCH an easy ?300, that's my car insurance for the YEAR!)

I wouldn't just coz I don;t think it is the morally right thing to do Sorry!

macwoozy · 08/12/2006 17:43

If he's not even asked for it, then sell it. You can always buy him one when it's his birthday.

beansprout · 08/12/2006 17:44

Sorry, maybe I'm corrupt, but what would be wrong with doing this? Is your ds or dh really excited about having it?

PrincessPeaHead · 08/12/2006 17:44

why not? what's moral about it? market forces.
if your ds doesn't know that it exists then sell it and buy all his xmas presents with the proceeds.

seems silly not to

southeastastra · 08/12/2006 17:45

i would!

SecondhandRose · 08/12/2006 17:46

Great idea, will pay for your Christmas food. Definitely, they'll be back in the shops in the Spring. I bought a dress in TK Maxx today to put on Ebay.

notreallyhereDee · 08/12/2006 17:46

i'd sell it, and get him one for birthday. get ds somethign else and treat yourself as well.

well done on getting one!

FestiveFrex · 08/12/2006 17:47

I would but put a fairly high reserve on it - such as £500 - then, if it doesn't go for that, you are not bound to sell it.

ParanoidSurreyHousewife · 08/12/2006 17:48

If he doesn't know about, isn't that bothered anyway, and you can think of something else to get him.....

Than I would flog it.

I'm assuming that you actually physically have it though!

SherlockLGJ · 08/12/2006 17:48

That you are even asking.

wickedwinterwitch · 08/12/2006 17:50

I do physically have it. Dh is the excited one but he's a grown up and will have to live with it.

can't see the moral issue here really, it's not anti biotics or anything

Wow I have just looked at these on ebay. I'd sell it.

noddyholder · 08/12/2006 17:53

what is it?

wickedwinterwitch · 08/12/2006 17:53

Ex dh AND dh are both here and are saying "www, NO, you can't do it" but I think it's because they both want to play it. Boys toys and all that fgs

OP posts:
wickedwinterwitch · 08/12/2006 17:54

WWW

Every time you type ex DH and DH in the same sentence it cracks me up.

Kittypickle · 08/12/2006 17:56

DH's would have been on Ebay if I thought I could have persuaded him. It's too late now and well and truly in use.

MerryMellowmas · 08/12/2006 17:56

Oh Gosh yes I would! My friend is DESPRATE for one apparently.

Yes, put a reserve on though so you sell it for £500. It will go, its Christmas, and its like the animal instinct in some people comes out, oH I can imagine them all now bidding away.

YES!

fussymummy · 08/12/2006 17:56

Go for it!!!

Whats stopping you????

If it's good enough for others to make a killing, then why shouldn't you join in.

Enjoy buying presents with the proceeds.

iota · 08/12/2006 17:56

blimey - some people (on ebay) have more money than sense - flog it

noddyholder · 08/12/2006 17:57

Sell it!Blimey I bought ds a media player for 130 and the guys delivering it said they are usually 280 and are going for 200+ on ebay but not enopugh profit to make me trudge round the shops and look for an alternative!¬But you would make a lot more so worth it!

Stockingsofdinosaurs · 08/12/2006 17:57

Sell it then buy one for your dh's birthday/anniversary. Spend half the money on charity and the other half in the kids' college funds. Or blow the lot on wine and cake.
