To all Mnetters that asked about the lonely old lady on Christmas Day. My naive 18 year old self could only think to give her the number for the Salvation Army.

Me as I am now- I would drive to her house and bring her back to mine for dinner.
Its really never left me and I always now look out for my elderly neighbours.

Amummyatlast · 07/11/2015 15:38

I thought it was rubbish. Bring back the penguins!

Fairiesarereal · 07/11/2015 16:19

Well hopefully she phoned the Salvation Army and they let her join them with their Christmas dinner and she met lots of other lonely people, made new friends and was never lonely again. Reckon your 18 year old self made a pretty good call x

Erm, what was the point of that ? OK, he's the man in the moon. But, there's just gazillions of questions.

It's totally naff. Like a pp, has said, could they not have given a huge donation to Age UK and not bothered with this confusing, meaningless, frankly, smug advert ?

200threads · 08/11/2015 10:23

Crap ad. Not christmassy at all. I would be very alarmed if some geezer was looking into my daughter's bedroom with a telescope.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 08/11/2015 11:57

I like the Age UK connection.

Other than that I was rather underwhelmed. I think they need a new idea, it's all a bit samey.

PeaceOfWildThings · 08/11/2015 13:09

Star Wars version is just as cheerful! Grin

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 08/11/2015 13:57

It's a bit pants really, isn't it. :(

Didn't tug my heart strings, and they're usually pretty twangable - I just thought it was a bit daft.

Theimpossiblegirl · 08/11/2015 14:12

I didn't like it. It made me feel sad. There's enough sadness in the world, I wanted feel-good, it's a Christmas advert!

Davros · 08/11/2015 15:46

Didn't like it, immediately made me think the d man was a petvert peeping tom. Good to short Help The Aged but they could have made a much better ad. Our house is full of bloody telescopes, DH has got at least three, sick of the sight of them and all their trappings

BelindaBagwash · 08/11/2015 15:47

They bring schmaltzy nonsense to a new level. Each time they have a new advert I think "Oh well it can't get any soppier" but, hey, it does [hmmm]
