ps I thought the goat was funny too in the sense of the competitive misery that goes on here.

lauraR1989 · 08/11/2014 23:41

I didnt say she did call me a 'C'.....why the hell would a X look 'cunty or wanky'!!!

I don't do the kisses and the hugs, Its a X. I appreciate it being the culture, but why be so rude about it? I have already stated god knows how many times I only joined yesterday purely to defend myself from a bunch of bullies.

Granted it may be difficult to adjust to but you actually see the way I was spoken to!! I was spoken to like I was something that had been stepped in.....for wanting to buy my 2 year old an ipad to keep him entertained while on Oxygen....I haven't even bloody bought it yet!

I didnt start the picture thread, I added mine to back a lady up who has done nothing but stand up for me when I was getting knocked down for trying to make things a little easier here.

You have cake symbols here.....that is pretty cool! x

KnittedJimmyChoos · 08/11/2014 23:41

You must enjoy feeling queasy percy then because why else would you bother to come onto such a thread.

In fact xmas threads have never been so busy, why have some posters come on here, over here in xmas? why?

maybe one or two maybe over here but strange so many .....all piling in...

sweetsomethings · 08/11/2014 23:42

I think that people are taking this thread wrong. I see the photos of the gifts as a way of getting ideas for kids of a similar age. For instance i dont have any girls but i have nieces so i get ideas from a picture of someones gifts for a girl of a similar age.

lauraR1989 · 08/11/2014 23:43

Knitted I was laughing at the childish joke at netmums.....the goat thing I have to say I thought you lot were serious! x

flame34 · 08/11/2014 23:43

no disrespect to anyone but a sub culture of one section of the web doesent dictate whether a x is acceptable or not , its kind of like following a herd of sheep . so what if its not the done thing , sparkles and kisses could be the making of this site ;-)

BathshebaDarkstone · 08/11/2014 23:43

Ignore and Knitted: I haven't bought any presents either! That's far too organised! Grin

KnittedJimmyChoos · 08/11/2014 23:44

I think that people are taking this thread wrong.

of course they are and they know it, it seems to be to be the same people who do this regularly all over the boards.

PercyHorse · 08/11/2014 23:46

I found it hard to believe someone had actually started one of these threads on here. It's the antithesis of MN.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 08/11/2014 23:46

I was aiming for jokey competitive misery, phew! Grin

I have seen lists but isn't usually because a person wants reassurance that they've gotten enough? Sometimes it's hard to gain perspective if your inner circle of RL friends are in a different financial bracket and you need to see that what you've been able to achieve is ok, too. It usually comes from a different place than "look at what I've bought."

But like I said, I don't have a problem with this thread, just trying to work out why it might not be everyone's cup of tea, or welcomed as easily as it is elsewhere. And I'm leaving it now! Smile

sweetsomethings · 08/11/2014 23:48

Says who Percy is there a list of do and donts that Ive missed the memo for?

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 08/11/2014 23:49

Right, I am not even HERE right now but happened upon this and would just like to say a very WARM welcome to all newcomers, from Netmums and otherwise - Mumsnet has a reputation as being viperish but we're lovely really.

The internet is a big place so there's room for all-whatever their christmas traditions or budget.

HOWEVER, in the spirit of the season of goodwill may I just say PEACE AND LOVE
In fact 365 days a year on Mumsnet, we ask that folk are civil and polite, and would remind that if there's one thing we could all do with, it's some moral support.

Tinsel wrapped Talk Guidelines Tinsel wrapped

Thanks so much
MNHQ

RJnomore · 08/11/2014 23:50

The Christmas section was usually a hide out for those of us who erm - really enjoy Christmas, in perhaps a more - well, a more tangible way than the majority of MN,

It was originally started before I joined but I think it was to give a safe space to talk about it without having to upset the main site.

So - why the fuss? Isn't this what the Christmas area is about?

As I've said, I'm not a fan of the x but I've seen I creeping on here a bit, fair enough, it's not on a par with clubbing baby seals and it's not against chat guidelines and we have a pedants corner to discuss it if you would like

KnittedJimmyChoos · 08/11/2014 23:50

I have seen lists but isn't usually because a person wants reassurance that they've gotten enough?

I think people post the numerous lists for all sorts of reasons. I think people like ideas and what other dc of similar age are getting.

RJnomore · 08/11/2014 23:51

Olivia I said peace and love up there but they all ignored me

lauraR1989 · 08/11/2014 23:52

Thank you for the welcome TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) x

IgnoreMeEveryOtherFuckerDoes · 08/11/2014 23:53

Exactly and this is what i am struggling to understand its for xmas lovers and those that needs tips on all areas of xmas.

Those that want to talk about xmas.

MNHQ is this area for xmas lovers and those wanting to talk about xmas or should we just shut down the xmas topic altogether as it offends some people? Or can the xmas topic, a little tiny corner off the main boards be protected.

PercyHorse · 08/11/2014 23:56

'Isn't this what the Christmas area is about?'

I thought it was for people who loved Christmas, not for the I-will-make-a-pile-of-gifts-ten-times-the-size-of-my-child-because-presents-equal-love to post pictures of their obscene hoard of tat.

RJnomore · 08/11/2014 23:56

I did try...

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 08/11/2014 23:57

It's a topic for talking about Christmas - whether you love it, hate it, poncetastify it, eat it, drink it.

What does it need protection from?

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 08/11/2014 23:58

@RJnomore

I did try...

It was genuinely appreciated. Thanks so much. Grin[baubles]

sweetsomethings · 08/11/2014 23:58

Well said KnittedJimmyChoos. Its sad that people think we should post pictures of Xmas presents on the Christmas topic. Its for those who love Xmas.

flame34 · 08/11/2014 23:58

percyhorse maybe take your plastic tat concerns up with playmobil ;-)
