Can we all stop this disgusting Christmas collusion?

No one actually likes sprouts, do they? I mean really?
Everyone has them because 'it's traditional' and 'it wouldn't be Christmas without sprouts'. Not because 'sprouts are delicious, I would eat them every day if I could'

The tradition is just propaganda to fill the coffers of Big Sprout.

So let's all just say no this Christmas. No one will mind. Honest.

Couldn't agree more!

Purplehonesty · 15/12/2013 11:11

They aren't toooo bad if they are smothered in gravy and cranberry sauce.
But then most things would taste ok like that I suppose!

TheFutureSupremeRulersMum · 15/12/2013 11:11

I love sprouts. DH even puts them in Thai curry when he makes it.

WutheringTights · 15/12/2013 11:11

I love sprouts and, after many years of training (hiding them in stews), so does DH. We eat them all year round. So there!

Groovee · 15/12/2013 11:11

Dh and ds love them. Dd and myself despise them.

DoItTooBabyJesus · 15/12/2013 11:11

Woah there.

Sprouts rock.

TinselinaBumSquash · 15/12/2013 11:12

Send all the sprouts to me! We all love the little green things at our house. Smile

BigW · 15/12/2013 11:12

Long since boycotted that particular Christmas tradition. Back to hell with you evil sprouts, I say!

breatheslowly · 15/12/2013 11:12

We love them - though only because DH knows how to cook them. We once served them on cocktail sticks with a gravy dip as a canape. It was a joke, but they all got eaten, so we can't be the only ones to like them.

MirandaWest · 15/12/2013 11:13

I love sprouts :)

thenicknameiwantedisgone · 15/12/2013 11:17

I love them but am on my own in this house. I will be having them on Christmas Day but don't usually bother otherwise.

I like the smelly farts the day after a bit less Xmas Grin

TheWanderingUterus · 15/12/2013 11:18

DH cuts them in half and fries them in a pan with garlic, butter and little pieces of bacon. They are one of the best things about Christmas dinner for me.

However the sulphur-scented gooey sloppy things MIL serves up are an offence to both body and soul.

noblegiraffe · 15/12/2013 11:18

Sprouts on cocktail sticks sounds like an AIBU waiting to happen.

I love sprouts, I bought some yesterday just because! They need to not to over cooked though, mushy sprouts are baaaad

lottieandmia · 15/12/2013 11:20

I really like them. They are definitely a marmite food IMO.

BaaHumbug · 15/12/2013 11:20

I love sprouts and I do eat them regularly they're in season. I don't like Christmas cake, mince pies, Christmas pud, spiced beef or ham, in fact I really only look forward to roast potatoes, bread sauce and sprouts so I would be very disappointed if sprouts were taken off the menu.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 15/12/2013 11:22

I like sprouts Xmas Blush

rookietherednosedreindeer · 15/12/2013 11:24

I love sprouts. Uncle fries them in butter with lessons and chestnuts , yum.

noblegiraffe · 15/12/2013 11:28

I think Big Sprout must have got wind (ha ha) of this thread and sent propaganda ministers because in no way do these responses accurately reflect the opinion of the population. Angry

DH and DS2 absolutely love them.

ExcuseTypos · 15/12/2013 11:55

But Christmas dinner wouldn't be complete without a sprout or twoXmas Sad

Don't stop the sprouting, please.

lunar1 · 15/12/2013 12:00

Ds1 and 2 love them, I have no idea why but apparently they are the best bitShock

StealthPolarBear · 15/12/2013 12:02

Yes I quite like them and eat them fairly often in winter. Wouldn't say they are my favourite vegetable but they're nice enough.

takingthathometomomma · 15/12/2013 12:02

I hate sprouts with a passion! Although SIL made a Gino de Campo inspired sprout and bacon dish last year that was delish. In fact, you've reminded me to look up the recipe so I can replicate this year! I'll share when I find it.

BillyBanter · 15/12/2013 12:03

I like sprouts!

Not mum's overcooked christmas sprouts though.

They're nice raw too.
