I'm torn between a wig I got one year and a set of glitter fun wombles I got another year :)

I think age 8/9 was peak excitement for me at Christmas and I think that is mainly the pressies I remember. Other pretty good hits were:

An emu puppet
a big bear with tartan legs and elastic on its feet that you could hook through your own feet so you could dance with it
A bed for a barbie type doll made out a shoe box
A weebles playground set
a small lego set (just mixed bricks etc)

Bionic Woman costume.

Big furry tortoise.

timidviper · 12/11/2013 23:23

I got a Tiny Tears doll one year which was amazing as they were really hard to get as very in demand.

My first watch was a Timex Cinderella watch, it came with an ornament which I still have.
My Mum and Dad made us presents sometimes, Dad made me a doll's house and Mum made doll's clothes

heinztomatosoup · 12/11/2013 23:25

Grease LP...now that ages me!!

The yellow bit is plastic, it slips on like an apron and does up with ties at the back. Sigh, happy days....

PrincessKitKat · 12/11/2013 23:30

My ZX Spectrum +

It was not only awesome in its own right, but also meant I got a TV in my room! I felt very grown up.

NoComet · 12/11/2013 23:31

A white lacy fairy tale dolls crib.

There was one each for me and my DSIS.

Not wrapped (would have been almost impossible). Just sitting there, lacy, impractical and frivolous.

Even at 6/7 I knew we didn't have the money to be frivolous (and money no object DM isn't)

It's the one of the few Christmas when my main gift was a real utter suprise.

Rosencrantz · 12/11/2013 23:32

Spice Girls tickets. I cried. I was an old teenager by this point!

BadgerBumBag · 12/11/2013 23:37

Big Yellow Teapot
Typewriter
Cycling Sindy

2kidsintow · 12/11/2013 23:39

Things I remember the most....

The tree house.
The steps and slide thing with the penguins.

Getting a set of makeup (children's) from my aunty as I'd never had anything like that before.

Best gift ever though was my own radio cassette player. I loved recording the top 20 and making radio programmes with my friends. I desperately wish I'd kept the tapes I'd made of my friends and I.

Aarow · 12/11/2013 23:43

A Mr Frosty. It was crap. But the moment I saw it, I actually cried Hmm I loved it, even after it failed badly, because I could always pretend it worked or whatever, and even if it was crap, I owned a Mr Frosty.

I still have it in my attic somewhere!

BigcatLittlecat · 12/11/2013 23:45

I must have been 6 or 7 and I got a watch which had a red white and blue strap! I loved it so much. Years later I found out it had been in the lost property at my dads work! We were very hard up as a family but I always remember Christmas being so so special.

MortifiedAnyFuckerAdams · 12/11/2013 23:52

My best gifts were quadroplay which I foubd out recently was a freeby given by a playgroup that was closing down, to my DM. Bloody loved it!

And a little sofabed - the type that pulls out a sponge mattress, rather than sprung. Because (1) I felt dead grown up having a sofa in my bedrooma and (2) I loved sleepovers so perfect.

Twitterqueen · 12/11/2013 23:57

soontobe
thank you so much.
I don't know why I haven't replaced it - I think because it was a totally unexpected present and it's not the same if you buy it yourself.

But you have now given it to me as another present, so teary-eyed thanks from me

Luggage16 · 13/11/2013 00:05

a big white monkey sat on my presents one year, and a talking cabbage patch kid (they were only available for a short time and werent really out in the uk but my mum found one. Loved it so much that I bought myself 2 mint in box ones as a grown up lol

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/11/2013 00:20

When I was 9yo I got an early Christmas present (in the November)

My first guinea-pig Grin

Upstairs at the moment are my daughters guinea-pigs, she got her older boy when she was 9yo.

lade · 13/11/2013 00:51

For me, it was a large baby doll (the sort that was fashionable in the early to mid 80s), that was the exact replica of Prince William (as a newborn of course). My mother bought me the doll, and knitted all sorts of outfits for him (he wore 0-3 months clothes). I took him everywhere with me, and I've still got him upstairs in the attic somewhere!

EBearhug · 13/11/2013 00:56

When I was 4, I was given a farm set - field, fences, trees, a farmhouse an some animals. My sister has the farm set now, but I still have the scarf my mother knitted me and gave me that same year, which would probably have been the best thing, if I hadn't had the farm set at the same time.

Rockinhippy · 13/11/2013 01:10

There are 2 that stick in my mind...

A 2 storey yellow wooden garage with a car lift - I would only have been about 3 or younger as it was before my brother was born, but I remember feeling so happy that it wasn't a doll & I was being given a " boys" toy :)

Isopon Metal Cast - I couldn't wait to open it & get creating, I remember my family being so happy I liked it & disappeared into the kitchen - they weren't quite so happy a while later when I shows them the money I had made with it Blush

Rosvita · 13/11/2013 02:18

I can only really remember my presents from 1 year which co incidentally was the year I confirmed Santa was not real (wonder whether that's why I can remember that christmas in particular).anyway I was into my horse riding then and my mum got me a tack box complete with tolls like good pick, brush etc and a video 'if wishes were horses' which I watched to death and 'a muppet christmas carol' ( still my favourite christmas film of all time (although I don't have it on DVD as it doesn't have 'the love has gone' song in it-ggrrr). I remember one christmas being really upset I wasn't bought Michael Jackson history cd but instead gr a leather horse my dad picked up on his travels with work (clearly a thoughtful present but overlooked by me at he time as all I wanted was that blasted cd - I went and bought the cd with my Xmas money in the end!).

FixItUpChappie · 13/11/2013 03:09

A few that I most fondly remember....

-A Fisher Price Magic Show Set
-A My Little Pony Waterfall Set (a cloud bath thingy)
-A She Ra Princess of Power Action Figure.....my parents hated them so much I was shocked (and thrilled) to get one Grin

QueenFuri · 13/11/2013 06:56

I loved my Barber dream house. I remember. getting a pink bike, girls world who's hair I cut off Grin.. Oh I got a secret diary one year too and a Nintendo. with original Super Mario Bros and Clay shooting to share with my brother.

One thing I never got was a Mr Frosty Sad I really wanted one, my boys both are getting the slush cups they want as a result Grinthis year. Grin

QueenFuri · 13/11/2013 06:59

Sorry for typos my phone likes to make me look stupid!

24again · 13/11/2013 07:09

Barbie motor home which was ace! Also the Barbie Macdonalds which had the coolest tiny burgers - I recently had to stop myself from buying one on Ebay!
Strangly enough though the Christmas present I remember the most was my brother getting a Commodore 64 - he cried and was about 13 at the time! He sobbed that, "This is the best Christmas present I've ever had!" We still tease him about that but he really loved that computer.

bringonyourwreckingball · 13/11/2013 07:15

My dad converted a big white bookshelf into a house for Sindy. It had wallpaper, carpet, furniture made by my mum. My sister has cerebral palsy and could only play with it if she could use it to pull herself up so it had to be anchored to the wall, so we couldn't have the real flimsy plastic one . We played with it for years.

WhispersOfWickedness · 13/11/2013 07:35

Oh, I've remembered another one! I got a bike for my 10th Christmas and my parents did a treasure hunt to find it, that was amazing Grin
