I'm torn between a wig I got one year and a set of glitter fun wombles I got another year :)

I think age 8/9 was peak excitement for me at Christmas and I think that is mainly the pressies I remember. Other pretty good hits were:

An emu puppet
a big bear with tartan legs and elastic on its feet that you could hook through your own feet so you could dance with it
A bed for a barbie type doll made out a shoe box
A weebles playground set
a small lego set (just mixed bricks etc)

Two working telephones. The first time I ever got anything I remotely wanted. My sister made me take them to our friends house boxing day and they were broken. I am still sad thinking about those phones.

Mine was my tiny tears doll, i loved it. I still can remember the way it smelt.Smile (maybe its just me but it did smell weird but nice) The new ones are so ugly i wish id kept mine for my dd's. I loved my sindy house too, my mum dropped it round last month for my dd's its still quite coolGrin

cielschwards · 20/11/2013 07:31

I think it was my 1st bicycle when i was around 5-6. Really loved it.

NeverQuiteSure · 20/11/2013 08:02

Lego technics beach buggy. It had air filled tyres and spring suspension and everything.

It was a gift from my aunt and uncle and, some years later, my parents confessed that as we opened our presents they realised there had been a mix up with the labels and the car had been intended for my DB. They saw the look on my face and kept quiet though. Funnily enough, no one can remember what my DB opened instead!

killpeppa · 20/11/2013 08:10

The playmobil Victorian mansion.

Bloody brilliant.

Awks · 20/11/2013 09:41

A casette recorder. My best friend got one the same year and we spent our lives recording the radio and each other farting

misslongstocking · 21/11/2013 21:44

Mouse Trap Game

I'd been hankering after it for ages and was completely ecstatic that Santa had fulfilled my wish!
Can remember the excitement of playing the game that Christmas Day and the Wizard of Oz being on the telly.
Still have it now , my children love playing it (under my watchful eye!)

VerySmallSqueak · 21/11/2013 21:46

A red plastic typewriter.

AgathaPinchBottom · 21/11/2013 22:37

Proper wooden Stilts and a pogo stick ... Best presents ever

Tinyminx · 22/11/2013 07:04

A 'ghetto-blaster' stereo (radio cassette) my dad got me for my 15th birthday.

My mum usually bought the presents, but he and I shared a love a music. He bought me the one that later featured in a George Michael video (on the boat, was it Careless Whisper?) however, my bitch of a mum told me before Christmas Day what he'd done (cos I think she thought I'd be incredulous and not want it) so she spoiled the 'surprise', but the sentiment of the present and my love for it could not be taken away.

I had it for years, it came to university with me. I can't remember anything she got me, but that is the best Christmas memory for me.

All my music based tattoos, and my musical heritage, comes from me growing up listening to my dad's records, so it all fits beautifully.

MorgauseIsNotBlinking · 22/11/2013 07:08

A pony.

A letter from Santa in my stocking saying a pony would be coming to be mine in the new year. I can't remember anything else about that Christmas.

Lovely story tiny

It's amazing what we all remember, and the more i have been thinking about it, the more things I can remember being given. I was the youngest in our large not well off family, but I can remember loads of things now (one year I got hamsters!) and many of the items were much enjoyed and loved. Now as an adult it I now know that I was very much loved - that is worth more than all the gifts. I hope that I pass on the same to my children and that it doesn't take them until their late 40s to realise it!

My mum used to spend a fortune on me at Christmas. I got dolls, prams, games but i don't remember anything. What I do remember is a pair of boys slippers with a cartoon character on them. I LOVED them and refused to take them off. I even walked to my grans house wearing them in the rain.

Rubybrazilianwax · 23/11/2013 18:49

I had a cindy house too, with a pool on the top and a lift.

SarahFx · 23/11/2013 20:58

My dad was a poor student at Oxford and made me a handmade dolls house for my Sindys. Bless him, he even wallpapered the walls and aertex on the ceilings.

I loved it.

WantAnOrange · 24/11/2013 15:26

A Playstation with Spyro the Dragon and Croc games. It was pre-owned I think and a shared present for me and my brother. I must have spent years in total playing Spyro!

Spirograph - loved playing with it

Always wanted one of those toy telephones connected by a long wire. My friend had one and I was deeply envious

My dad made me a sindy caravan which the roof and front lifted off. It was ace. I think he got the template from a readers digest diy manual Grin

ChestyNut · 26/11/2013 19:12

A Mr Frosty...I coveted one for so long! I nearly burst with excitement when I got one.

And some white leather, flat slouch ankle boots. I felt so grown up and cool Grin
