I'm thinking maybe a cashmere scarf or a remote control helicopter?

He has a scarf already though and it's a slighly dull present but then he had a RC helicopter and flew it into one the neighbours gardens never to be seen again so I'm not convinced about that either.

What are you buying?

Box set of Harry Potter DVD's, bottle of single malt, aromatherapy bath oil, book about 'his' footy team and a giant bar of Fruit & Nut (if I can find one - no idea where to look now there's no Woolies!).

recall · 15/11/2011 00:23

That new Sherlock Holmes novel

a puzzle, he seems to like one to fiddle with on Christmas day

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 15/11/2011 04:26

Got him a Black&Decker Plantsmart thingy - he is v into cooking at the moment but his herbs keep dying on him so hopefully technology will have the answer.

A cookbook (Jamie Oliver if there's a decent new one out).

Possibly either a KitchenAid mixer, or a new computer.

If I have the time I will try to get our wedding and honeymoon photo albums (from two years ago Blush) finished. But I probably won't.

RealLifeIsForWimps · 15/11/2011 04:35

A Kindle. No idea if he wants one or not but I am sick of his book stacks, so he's getting one

jai38 · 15/11/2011 05:09

Holdmecloser what is this plantsmart gadget sounds great can you get in the uk?

DumSpiroSpero · 15/11/2011 08:03

...I am sick of his book stacks, so he's getting one

Sounds like something my DH would say about me Grin - very much doubt whether he'd think of that solution though - perhaps I'd better drop some hints

Although given that I should probably already have shares in Amazon - maybe not...

TheRhubarb · 15/11/2011 10:36

PippaandPolly it was a Groupon voucher and it hasn't arrived yet so I can't remember the name of the company but it was one of these if that helps?

RealLifeIsForWimps · 15/11/2011 10:50

The thing is I'm sure he'll actually like having one as he tends to read several books concurrently, rather than reading one all the way through, then reading another.

ChunkyMonkeyMother · 15/11/2011 10:52

Dh is worse than any child I know, he didn't celebrate Christmas as a child but my goodness he makes up for it now - he is always sending me those fucking email things from play and amazon about stuff he wants! This year he has asked for a magic contraption you put on the tv which makes the internet come up on it so you can get iplayer and youtube probably for porn and a load of other gadget shite stuff - I'll probably get him some nice bits for his stocking such as socks for when the porn-hub gets attached to my tv and undies.

One year I got him a guitar hero DS with games
Last year we said nothing big just a token from each other and I think I got him some gadget tat and an ipod dock

For his birthday I bought a tool box and filled it with the basics (as we were always asking my dad for his) and I got him a chocolate tool box to go with it.

I've also got him an advent calendar because he's a massive teenage boy at heart - little does he know I will have surgically removed every other chocolate muwahahahahahaha

BigBlueBear · 15/11/2011 10:54

A preloaded Kindle.

Some PJs so he stops inadvertently flashing my parents when we stay at theirs and he gets up with the DDs in the morning and only puts his pants and a T shirt on.

Some nougat.

God I'm mean compared to some of you on this thread!

Pippaandpolly · 15/11/2011 11:11

Rhubarb0 that's brilliant-thank you! Perfect present for my sister Grin

TheRhubarb · 15/11/2011 11:25

Rightupmyrue, sadly he no longer has his record player, so would need a player but I was rather hoping to cut out the pc and get them direct onto CD? You know, like you used to be able to do with tapes. Doesn't seem that easy for CDs, even with a double CD player you need a pc to burn them. My pc is rather slow you see and he has 100's of vinyls. I can just see an entire weekend taken up with copying them onto my pc and then ME having to burn them onto a CD, because if he so much as looks at my laptop it breaks.

RoyalWelsh · 15/11/2011 11:43

-Modern Warfare Xbox game
-'Chip bowl' from Morrisons
-Whiskey
-Whiskey book... is that how you spell whiskey? whiskey...whisky.....hmmmm.
-Massage oil
-Massage instrument
-1kg tub of Haribo Starmix
-1kg tub of jelly beans
-3 jumpers.

Those are the things that I have already bought, but I do have other things on my list that I would like to buy if I suddenly got a pay rise/more hours/won the lottery/found a proepr job that actually used the five years worth of studying I did, such as:

-Battlefield (Xbox game)
-Innis and Gunn beer
-Lots of red wine
-Fish bowl wine glasses
-Sake
-Socks
-A holiday.
-Tshirts

Oh, I have also started writing a tiny little book - things like reasons I love you and bits and pieces that we have done over the year. He doesn't pay that much attention to stuff like that tbh but I like to keep them :)

BigBlueBear · 15/11/2011 12:02

The spelling of whisky depends on whether it is Scottish or not, I believe obsession.

I like your book idea but did something similar for Fathers Day this year - a photo collage of him with the DDs, with things DD1 said about him written around the edges, like "My Daddy is very handsome, like a prince" and "I like it when Daddy takes me out on my bike" and "We love our Daddy very much". He said he loved it at the time (I framed it and everything), but it has never made it onto the wall, so I may not bother with such schmaltz in the future as he clearly isn't that bothered.

Amazed so many of you have DPs who are prepared to wait for MW3. When I asked DH if I could get it for him for Christmas, he wailed "But I want to get it when it comes out. Why should I wait?"

DumSpiroSpero · 15/11/2011 12:07

Whiskey - Irish

Whisky - Scotch

tostaky · 15/11/2011 12:19

ive just ordered a neckwarmer from notonthehighstreet as he always rolls his scarf in a very odd way, to make it look just like a neckwarmer...
im going to buy him a tie, because in the 7 years we've been together he hasnt bought any and had a major crisis last saturday before going to a wedding
and a pair of crocs because he is wearing his mum's bright pink ones absolutly all the time when at home

why do men need a washbag? i dont understand? dont they leave their dirty clothes in the laundry basket like everybody else?

RoyalWelsh · 15/11/2011 12:44

ooh thankyou BBB AND Spiro it's Lagavulin... I think that means it is Whiskey.

DP is categorically not prepared to wait till Christmas, but he doesn;t know I have bought it for him. He had to make a decision between Skyrim and MW and Skyrim won. And now, because it is my birthday today, followed shortly by Christmas and with two rent days in between, I am banking on him not being able to afford it.
I shall kick him hard if I find out he has bought it though

Tostaky If I woke up to find that all DP's dirty clothes were in the laundry basket I would think that I had woken up in an alternate universe.

teacoupons · 15/11/2011 18:11

DP has so far: Animal (the drummer) print lounge pants, an Animal (the brand) t-shirt, a Soduku set, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond's autobiographies and a black zip up hoodie to go under his coats on the commute to work in the winter.

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 15/11/2011 21:47

We only really buy each other (well I buy it all) if there's something we particularly want/need. Otherwise Santa brings DH a chocolate orange, and me a box of matchmakers and that's it. This year I've bought DH a Beatles t-shirt (but only because it was the only one I could find in his bloody size - he loves the Beatles and I hate them don't) and a book about John Lennon that he doesn't know he's getting, so for once he will have a surprise. I'm getting a cardi, I bought it in Evans last week in the sale and it occurred to me to put it away for Santa to bring so I'm not the only one who doesn't get anything.
I found the Tshirt and book at http:/The Beatles Shop

TeaOneSugar · 15/11/2011 21:54

So far;

A fishing masterclass with a former (x4) world champion.
Razor
Clinique shaving cream
Clinique post shave healer
Free clinique bag with a couple of sample sizes.
Calendar for his office at work.

To be bought;

Slippers
Socks and pants (compulsary)
itunes or costa gift card

flakemum · 15/11/2011 22:20

My Dh said he would like a furry trapper hat, the ones with ears! Not sure what that will look like?

bbbiscuits · 15/11/2011 22:36

I'm getting dh a bowler hat as he was Envy at the guys that had them on at remembrance day services (all 3 of them we went too!). He is very difficult to buy for and this is the first thing for years he's wanted.

Not sure if I'll want to walk down the road with him wearing it tho!

witherhills · 15/11/2011 22:36

He hasn't been very good so he's getting a sack full of ashes
