I'm thinking maybe a cashmere scarf or a remote control helicopter?

He has a scarf already though and it's a slighly dull present but then he had a RC helicopter and flew it into one the neighbours gardens never to be seen again so I'm not convinced about that either.

What are you buying?

I have no idea. Probably something from his Amazon wishlist (Xbox games, CDs, DVDs, books) Dull but that's all he ever wants.

fivegomadindorset · 13/11/2011 21:04

On our two nights away we are going to see War Horse (my choice) and go to Vinopolis for a wine tasting session.

thenightsky · 13/11/2011 21:07

Tickets to see Snow Patrol in Sheffield.

RightUpMyRue · 13/11/2011 21:08

I sooo want to see War Horse but when I looked it was all booked up until January. Do you mean the stage show? A film has been made too.

I've watched a few vids on youtube about how they engineered the horses for the stage, it's bloody brilliant.

Have you read the book? I'll have to make do with that and the movie until I can get tickets for the show.

Either a clock or perhaps a glitter disco ball, am asking for a wok as my suggestion of an ipad got thrown right out the window. Gold Plated Wok might suffice Grin

dilbertina · 13/11/2011 21:15

Sony ereader which I'll load with some books he will like.
Different flavour popcorn set from debenhams.
Water and mp3 player running belt thing....
Running earphones to go with above.
Kettle which switches off quickly when boiled (cheap kettle bought on quick switch off ability alone - to avoid extreme irritation caused by current kettle which boils for ages.)
SAS survival book because l think he'll enjoy.
Indoor fireworks (for me really...)
Inbetweeners movie.
Anti frost car windscreen thing.

oreocrumbs · 13/11/2011 21:21

Cufflinks, computer games, books, ipod case, smellies. Thats all I've got so also in need of inspiration - His birthday is on the 27th so I have to get 2 presents! There are lots of things he would like but all are ££££ so not an option this year!

Magneto · 13/11/2011 21:36

Camcorder. He mentioned he would like one ages ago so he's stuck with it now!

Also got him a hexbug nano, a whistle key finder thingy, a dalek t-shirt and a lush edible massage bar (for use on me, but he gets to eat it WinkGrin )

SuckItAndSee · 13/11/2011 21:39

Smythson diary. He is a stationery ponce.
and some sort of sci-fi nonsense from his Amazon wish list.

leftmydignityatthedoor · 13/11/2011 21:39

He has asked for socks, a retro football team Hip Flask, a dire straits dvd, and some EDT or aftershave, all in all costing me about £80

JobCarHouseNoBaby · 13/11/2011 21:48

Welsh dragon cufflinks
Dressing gown
Socks (he seems to lose pairs every day)
Tickets to see Derren Brown (he is obsessed)
Lynx
Probably some chocs (which will be gone by Boxing Day)
Maybe a new Man Utd shirt, but only if funds permit

We are childless (at present) so enjoy spoiling eachother at Christmas. Things will be very different in 18-24 months (hopefully) when we'll have our first bubba

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/11/2011 22:06

Haven't bought him anything so far. Will probably get him -

  • Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy book
  • a scarf
  • nice shower gel
  • a couple of foreign language or strange horror DVDs (no idea what though so any suggestions welcome!)
  • think he'd like a coffee machine but I can't afford an expensive one (again any suggestions welcome)
  • no idea what else but I will do him a foodie stocking
MarksPA · 14/11/2011 00:24

Nice casual shirt from Fat Face (he chose it - safe purchase!) from Kids.
Electric screwdriver (he asked for this but I've been left to pick model..arghh) from me.
PS3 Assassins Creed new game out tuesday (surprise Santy gift)

Tbh, he's just as happy with a nice christmas family dinner, happy, excited kids and a smiley wife. Awww.. and of course not being asked to do any of the wrapping or card writing...

I got him the remote control helicopter a couple of years ago, and it's sat in the box in his wardrobe but for a few hours play that day. A waste unless DH is really into that sort of thing.

RightUpMyRue · 14/11/2011 09:43

Lots of ideas, well done dears.

More please Smile

I've got him an iPad2, he's got pj bottoms and slippers in his stocking and a silly T shirt from DD. I have spent about 5 times what I normally spend. He's had a shitty year and Christmas will be the first since his mum died. I want him to remember it as the Christmas he got the iPad he really, really wanted as well as the Christmas after his mum died so it's not so sad Sad

TheRhubarb · 14/11/2011 09:53

A wine decanter gadget. You pour your wine through it and into your glass and it is instantly decanted. It claims to turn a £5 bottle of wine into an expensive tipple.

Also I'm on the lookout for one of those gadgets that transfers vinyl LPs onto CDs as he has a stack of LPs that he no longer listens to, but if he transferred them onto CD he'd be made up.

PorkChopSter · 14/11/2011 10:13

A share of the family Wii

Not exactly what he wants...

ArtyFartyPants · 14/11/2011 10:14

Getting my dp a new guitar amp to go with the new guitar I brought him for his recent birthday. Also games, DVDs etc...maybe a new leather jacket

TheCountessRoyalofBlood · 14/11/2011 10:50

MarksPA
got this for dh last year - best fecking money every spent!

Even I love it as it is small and light and gets in all sorts of places - does everything from kids toys to other stuff, would recommend getting it and amazon have it on a deal at the moment as do other places - he will love it!

RightUpMyRue · 14/11/2011 11:03

Ha ha, love the corkscrew attachment Countess that's brill! Unfortunately my DP is uncouth only drinks lager, from the can, so that would be lost on him. For my mum though it would be ideal. Smile

i am unsure this year about dp. so far i have ordered him a small table top pool table from play £9.99 and a man utd key ring lol. i no he wants paul scholes autobiography. i will get him new pjs and slippers for the xmas eve hamper. need ideas from dd (she will be 18 months). He is a nightmare to pick clothes for. He loves hollister and franklin & marshall but 2 expensive if he wont wear what i choose. He is big into football, playing and watching so thinking something along those lines; anything man utd or tracksuit bottoms will be a hit lol.

my mum has got him the new call of duty for xbox. I might get him new fifa.

mumeeee · 14/11/2011 11:11

Not sure but might get him a watch as he seems to have lost his. Will be getting magazine, tolerates and cheap DVD fir sticking.

mumeeee · 14/11/2011 11:12

georgeclooneyfan · 14/11/2011 11:13

A Kindle and tickets to see John Bishop, but I saw him looking at a pair of skis on line last night (he wont be getting them too expensive).
