Hi

Those of you who do Elf on the Shelf - where did you get your elf from please? Links would be appreciated.

Thanks!

BlondeBatgirl, no feet, that is odd! Can you make some pixie boots? Elves don't need visible wings - they are magic! :)

AlwaysRocking, start as you mean to go on, I say! Will have lovely memories (and photos!) for you, anyway.

PlasticFlamingo, that elf looks cute!

Im going to have to get creative i think! Might even try to find some mini bells to go on his toes! Smile

NoHunIntended · 25/10/2011 18:03

Ooh, yes, yes to bells! Was he meant to come with feet? What does it look like in the online listing?

I bought this one with the light skin tone (this one shows non existent feet in pic!)www.amazon.co.uk/Elf-Shelf-Christmas-Tradition-Tones/dp/B005WUA0YE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1319562516&sr=8-3

His legs just end at the ankles! Hmm

BlondeBatgirl · 25/10/2011 18:16

Ok that didnt work either...bloody links!

NoHunIntended · 25/10/2011 18:20

Are you sure he isn't just in a babygro?

OP posts:
BlondeBatgirl · 25/10/2011 18:30

Ive just had another look...i think the idea is that hes in a babygro type thing, and you probably have to bend his feet , but to me it just looks like he has long pointy legs! Just doesn't look right without shoes!

NoHunIntended · 25/10/2011 22:05

Totally see what you mean - have looked at other photos, e.g. pinterest.com/pin/370051582/ and yes, does look a bit in need of footwear!

OP posts:
Pigleychez · 25/10/2011 22:07

I thought the same Batgirl! Hence when I made my Elf I gave him shoes :) No bells but he has a bell on his hat instead :)

simpson · 25/10/2011 22:09

how is anyone else doing it who has bought the elf on its own???

Are you buying a notebook too for the elf to write in and DC to write a message to the elf???

BlondeBatgirl · 25/10/2011 22:13

Have just had a nosey at your photos Pigley, your elf is so cute!! Love the fact that you made him! Im sceptical about making a pair of elfy shoes let alone a whole bloody elf! :)

WitchesAreComing · 27/10/2011 18:34

Well here's an idea...

Shock
NoHunIntended · 27/10/2011 18:56

Don't know yet, simpson, DS only just turned one, his writing isn't very good yet. :) I will probably do a photo diary of sorts, when he is a bit older, and encourage him to write, yes.

I still haven't bought an elf yet, I can't stop thinking about the expensive one, which we can't really get in this year's budget, but maybe next year. If I am still crazy by then will probably be even worse.

WAC, that is one freaky-looking big old elf!

Bernard arrived today

WitchesAreComing · 28/10/2011 13:38

That's great!

You may need to photograph him immediately; after all, it is almost November Grin

Haribojoe · 01/11/2011 12:13

Starting to give serious thought to all things Elf related, mostly coming up with enough fun hiding ideas to last a whole month!

Was wondering should we have a thread when the elves arrive to chart their progress/antics, might give us all extra ideas Grin

BlondeBatgirl · 01/11/2011 12:24

Me too!
Ive been writing some down in a notebook but I havent got anywhere near a months worth!
Im sooooooo excited this year!! Grin

Haribojoe · 01/11/2011 14:48

Have been writing mine in my Dodo Christmas planner (that sounds really sad Blush).

Think I have almost got a months worth, but am worried I'm going to need all year to think up new ideas for next Christmas Grin

BlondeBatgirl · 01/11/2011 15:27

Maybe I should tell you that I wrote my ideas down in my CHRISTMAS notebook!!
I am only admitting to that as now I know I'm not the only one!! Grin

I did have thought about getting some instant snow and making up a winter scene for Alfie to play in! Snowmen and maybe a mini christmas tree????? Thought ds would love that!!

NoHunIntended · 01/11/2011 17:39

Hope Bernard is enjoying his new home!

Get you all with your Christmas notebooks! :) I have been busy collating ideas on here, nice and visual, and saves me having to later try and decipher my awful handwriting. A thread on Mn for Elfy Escapades for ideas and inspiration is a good idea.

I have decided my, er I mean the children's elf shall be called 'Avery'

What do you think?

NoHunIntended · 01/11/2011 18:58

Avery the Elf is a fine name indeed!

OP posts:
simpson · 01/11/2011 20:47

I have been writing ideas down too Blush

Haribojoe · 02/11/2011 18:50

Blondebat loving the Christmas scene idea Grin, I can see this turning into a bit of an obsession, have already started thinking about all the "elf-size" props I should buy for future elfcapades!
