Thank you for the link Thumbwitch. I wish DD was interested in dolls as I'd buy one - but despite my enthusiastic encouragement (having been queen of Sindy myself) she just isn't interested. I hoped desperately, but I think now she is 9, I'm going to have to accept she's never going to be a doll girl. Although .................. maybe a Daisy doll could change her mind! Wink

Worth a try, Bugsy - and if she doesn't go for it, well hey - you get to play with look after her instead Wink

Grin - I think so too!

I was desperate for fun board games and begged every Christmas for 'Guess Who' and a bit later on for 'Twister' (although not technically a board game Grin) but only got sensible games like Scrabble and Ludo Sad Have bought 'Guess Who' for DD and DH and I love to play it however 'Twister' has lost it's magic as have a bad back and i think it would kill me Grin

Did have a Tiny Tears and Sindy doll though and later on a Barbie plus had a cool Aunt who would buy us girls care Bears and My little pony despite DMums disapproving looks as these were frivolous iho.

I wanted a Mr Frostie too - never got one but my younger DBro did! Got one at uni - it was really hard to use - how did children manage?!

nickelbabe · 24/09/2011 10:19

We weren't too hard done by, because as a family, we had friends who had all the stuff - we used to go to theirs to play with the Sindy house, and with Guess Who, and with the soda stream etc.

I always wanted Sylvanian Families and I also showed my ingenuity by making friends with Clare down the street so I could play with hers.

I did get a Furby, and a thing that was scented and had a brush on it's tail but I can't remember the name of it! My Mum queued for hours for both of them. I also got some electronic secret diary thing that cost a bomb. I was quite spoiled, but I still never got that Sylvanian Families house :(

I nearly made a mistake with DS1's number one ask last year... He kept asking for battle gongs, I googled and everything, nearly settled on buying him a dinner gong when SIL told me he meant Bakugan... Ooops.

you needed a woodworking mum, then - we were allowed to buy the toys with our pocket money (wahey) and every now and then we would be given a piece of furniture. But my mum made a house (for my little sister, as it happens - she was the fan) out of wood. It was fab, and actually much better in construction and size than the proper shop-bought one.

Eddas · 27/09/2011 14:10

only read op, but me, my sis and bro asked for Mr Frostie every year too and never got one Sad so when I had a job and was all big I decided to buy it for us and wrapped it labelled for all of us Grin as hard as it is to admit it really was crap Grin we used it once and then it went in a cupboard.

Father Christmas is right not to get his elves to make them Grin
