... still waiting on a parcel with no idea if it's going to arrive in time!?

Dad ordered a game from tesco for ds (second most wanted item on his list of 4 items he actually is hoping for). He ordered it 8 days ago but it hasn't arrived yet. But other items I've ordered since then (not from tesco) have turned up today; including via courier as well as royal mail package.

As I haven't ordered it myself I can't chase it up to find out how/if it's coming. Dad is in New Zealand too so not so easy for him to chase it up either.

Am in south east and we've not had any snow for a couple of weeks now. Well that was true up until an hour ago and now I reckon we have an inch. So can't think why it's late other than lost or royal mail too over whelmed with back log possibly.

Don't know if I should wait a couple more days or should I just assume not coming now and run out and but it and then send parcel back if it does turn up Confused.

Anyone else in a similar position?

Yep, still waiting for one! Its been posted.

muddleduck · 18/12/2010 19:02

If it is late it is late.
No big deal.
Don't stress so much Smile

Haribojoe · 18/12/2010 19:16

Waiting for loads of stuff from Amazon that was dispatched a week ago and my new mobile phone (my only Christmas present) which was despatched by DHL Friday.

Was stressing about it earlier but now I'm letting it go!

Guadalupe · 18/12/2010 19:20

I didn't order anything online after Nov this year because I was so ridiculously stressed waiting for stuff from habitat and amazon last year that didn't arrive in time and I vowed never again.

Well, maybe not Nov but ages ago!

Sorry that's no help. I do feel your pain though from last year.

PurpleMiffy · 19/12/2010 09:52

Yep I'm waiting for DD's main present. It 'should' be delivered tomorrow. Good luck to all those waiting

musicposy · 19/12/2010 14:06

Yep, I'm waiting for a present for brother's fiancee. I ordered it on 5th December Shock. From ebay. Seller has been told by Royal Mail to allow 2 weeks because of snow so if it hasn't arrived by 21st she will send another special delivery. But I notice RM have suspended their special delivery guarantee, so I'm not holding out much hope.

It's their first Christmas together and I'm really trying to get on well with her etc - how great is it going to look when she's the only person I don't have a present for?Hmm

Will have to get some chocs or something and tell her main present is to follow, I guess. But 5th December! Bloody hell, will have to order in August next year!

MamaVoo · 19/12/2010 14:16

I'm waiting for loads of stuff which seems to have gone astray. Not going to stress about it now though.

gillybean2 · 20/12/2010 09:48

Am looking out the window for any sign of postman. Nothing yet...

About two weeks ago I ordered something I haven't seen anywhere else, the money was aken from my credit card, and I have just had an email to say that it is out of stock!

The cheek!

juneybean · 20/12/2010 10:07

Yep it was dispatched on the 28th November...

crockydoodle · 20/12/2010 10:15

RM have suspended their special delivery guarantee but special delivery will still have priority over other mail

anonnyme · 20/12/2010 10:26

I actually posted a large parcel by special delivery on Fri at about 2pm from Glasgow & it had arrived at its destination in Hants by 9am Sat Xmas Grin

On the other side, I'm waiting for an ebay order from DHL & have been waiting nearly a month & have no idea if that is going to arrive in time.

whatagradeA · 20/12/2010 10:29

I ordered from amazon on the 27th Nov and it's been scanned on arrival at the Royal Mail National distribution centre on the 9th but nothing since. It's 5 people's presents Sad

biancacbwantsaquietchristmas · 20/12/2010 10:32

i'm on the other side - have a small business and we have had so many parcels that have gone astray and we have had to send out replacements for. One small package sent last tuesday morning has still not arrived today.

special delivery seems to be the only way to get any priority at the moment but certainly nothing guaranteed

it's absolutely crippling.

whatagradeA · 20/12/2010 10:42

You must be having a nightmare bianca Sad I bet there are loads of people getting an earful from customers as well. Royal Mail won't even look into it til after 15 days.

DanZZZenAroundTheTreeAgain · 20/12/2010 10:46

thankfully mine have all arrived. One is a flop though because although the package arrived on time, they sent the wrong product which is of no use at all as a Christmas present.

I think musicposy the girlfriend will be touched that you ordered something and will know how much of a problem postal deliveries have been.

The parcels might still reach you all. I have had things arrive on Christmas Eve when I had entirely given up hope. Next year, I am getting everything ordered by October though - time to send them back if there is a problem etc

Jcee · 20/12/2010 10:54

whatagradea I ordered from Amazon on the 28th Nov and I had exactly the same message when I checked the tracking for the last few weeks - it seemed that the parcel went to the national distribution centre then nothing and there were no further updates!

However 1 of my 2 deliveries arrived this morning, so there's hope for you and maybe yours are not far off now Smile

Although Amazon have just sent me an email saying they don't know where the other delivery is and so I can have a refund if I want but I might still get the parcel but they don't know when.

It's DD's Christmas present - and her only one as she's 12mo so we figured she wouldn't notice we'd only bought her 1 thing - and Amazon was the only place we'd seen it as everywhere else was out of stock so I am not sure what to do now

SantaPawz · 20/12/2010 11:37

DD (4) christmas stocking stuff still not arrived yet. If not here by Friday, I will go quickly into town to nearest Hawkin Bizaar to pick bits and pieces.

Any idea if possible to return items if received lates?

TallyB · 20/12/2010 12:19

I have the same problem - ordered from Amazon at the beginning of December, but so far only one parcel has arrived :-( The others have been dispatched, so I'm guessing they're stuck in the backlog caused by the bad weather.

mmmmmchocolate · 20/12/2010 12:31

Santa paws you will be able to return late items I'm sure.
I ordered a pair of shoes from next on Friday. Website said they would be dispatched in 3-4 weeks. I had an email saturday saying they have been dispatched to the courier but due to the snow would probably still be delayed. The snow is really bad here- a good 6 inches, we can't even get the car off the drive! But they arrived at about half 9 this morning! I'm very impressed :)

Having Parcelforce nightmares. Last week (before recent snow) they accepted parcels on 24h delivery, but their depots were too busy to accept any more items because of a backlog due to the snow 2 weeks ago.
But they didn't think to tell their customers when they paid extra for 24h delivery.
So the parcels went straight to their national depot and 5 days later they haven't moved. They won't even let me go there to pick them up. I was told on friday 'we hope to get them to you before christmas'.
If this is due to the snow 2 weeks ago, why did they accept the parcels???
And they don't seem to even be able to say 'sorry'. Its as if they won't take responsibility because it is the weather's fault (thats a childs attitude imo). AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArrrggghhh.

MrsChemistrySetInMyStocking · 20/12/2010 13:20

Just got a call from the toy shop that I bought one of DS's presents from, saying that they don't have it in stock Xmas Angry
It's too bloody late to order an alternative online, so I'll have to hope and pray that the shops have something similar.

I'm a bit gutted because I really wanted to get him that present Xmas Sad
They are sending an alternative present, and they were incredibly apologetic, and I should be grateful that they called up to rectify their mistake as soon as possible, but I'm still in a rage.

gillybean2 · 20/12/2010 13:57

Yay, postman just delivered the package. Though I note it was posted 1st class 10 days ago Xmas Shock.

Fingers crossed the rest of you get your deliveries over the next couple of days.
