Called back to consultant after DS brain MRI

hello, my DS aged 7 has been having nausea, sickness and headaches since November and through lots of pushing managed to get an MRI which was on Monday eve - we were told to expect results in 2 weeks. Today I received a phone call from the paediatric consultants secretary asking myself and hubby to go in tomorrow at noon. I’m terrified. Has anyone else got experience of this? What’s scared me most is that they have asked me to bring hubby. They have requested that we don’t bring DS. I don’t even know what I’m asking for on this thread, maybe someone that has been in a similar situation? Thanks x

That is worrying but it could be something was picked up fully treatable that they need to do now

OneFrenchEgg · 22/06/2022 19:21

Good luck, while you are waiting just keep in mind if you can that there is a wide range between mildly concerning and terrible and all of those are a possibility right now. If it's terrible you'll find out in due course and can worry about it then.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 22/06/2022 19:24

I really hope that he is alright and can understand why you are worried.

On a practical note have you got anyone who could pick DS up from school tomorrow, if the appointment is at noon, they often run late and you may need some time afterwards, so if you can it would be good to have someone else pick him up and sort out dinner.

I’m sorry I can’t add much other than lots of love and well wishes for you tomorrow. Flowers

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 22/06/2022 19:25

The wait, no matter how long is always unbearable in situations like this. At least you know that by this time tomorrow you'll have an answer and a plan of what's next, no matter what that might be. Keep yourself busy, be gentle with yourselves and keep communicating with your husband. We're here for you OP x

HSKAT · 22/06/2022 19:27

Sorry I can't say much but wanting to send some luck your way Flowers

LateMumma · 22/06/2022 19:28

I totally get why you are worried and that's very understandable, thinking of you all snd hope all is ok tomorrow

Velvetbee · 22/06/2022 19:33

A handhold for tomorrow. We had this in 2008 and our son had an optic pathway tumour. It’s stable now and he’s loving college but it was a long journey.
Definitely write everything down, it’s easy to forget what is said.
Will be thinking of you and hoping it’s something and nothing tomorrow.

MrJi · 22/06/2022 19:36

If you are up and in a panic in the wee small hours, there is always someone lovely on here to talk to.

mooonbaby · 22/06/2022 19:41

Well done for pushing for your son, you’re a fantastic mum! Praying for good news for tomorrow, I’ll be thinking of your family and sending lots of positive thoughts your way. There are a lot of relatively harmless outcomes it could be xxx

StarCourt · 22/06/2022 19:42

Good luck for tomorrow OP!

itsgettingweird · 22/06/2022 19:47

Another just adding well done for advocating for him and hand holding. I'd tell you not to worry but that's probably a bit like telling the sun not to rise and set (it's inevitable!)

I remember when my ds had neurological symptoms and I pushed and pushed for answers. He actually has a neurological muscular condition and although once I knew for a split second I wish I hadn't found out I soon realised knowing wouldn't change the outcome but it did mean that we could start dealing with it sooner.

Try and Have a bit of toast or small break days tomorrow and whatever it is small or not they are being proactive in sorting it!

nellytheelephant1980 · 22/06/2022 19:52

Thinking of you. Totally different really but my 7 year daughter got poorly very quickly (well over a few weeks) and I had to take her to A&E and say there is something really not right one weekend. She has type 1 diabetes! But that feeling of knowing, waiting for tests etc is horrendous. You must be worried sick. Thinking of you xx
