I'll be brief because I'm shattered.
Fever for two days starting last Monday. Two different diagnosis from doctors and a week of antibiotics as it was still spreading. Antibiotics now finished today and this picture was taken this morning. It's now spreading to the other hand since yesterday.

Any ideas?

Ps Ds is 10 months

Go 9nto the health thread.

I’m not an HCP. But if spreading I’d be heading back to Dr /Children’s paed A&E tomorrow if dc reasonably happy alert and no fever. If fever, miserable, not alert, I’d be on the phone now , better safe than sorry. But I’m a worrier.

DullAndOld · 30/11/2017 01:06

I would just take him straight back to the doc in the morning tbh

TetleysSurpassesYorkshireTea · 30/11/2017 01:08

I have no idea what it is, but if its infected and spreading, could there be a risk of sepsis if it hits his bloodstream? Really sorry, don't want to panic you, but I would honestly call 111.

oldlaundbooth · 30/11/2017 01:14

Call 111.

RainbowWish · 30/11/2017 01:30

Could it be a sever case of hand foot and mouth?
Anyways if it was me I would be heading to a & e now. His age he will eb putting the infection back into his system through his mouth.
He may need intavenious antibiotics which are stronger.
And if you do take a note of the antibiotics he has already had so they don't was time trying them again.

I hope your wee one is better soon. Looks sore bless Flowers

Prusik · 30/11/2017 05:45

He's seen the GP twice and out of hours once. i feel like such a waste of resources only went to out of hours on Saturday as GP said to go if it started spreading more. We're back.to the GP today. No one is willing to diagnose though so I'm curious.. we're well past the fevers now, that was ten days ago. Just weird it's now starting on the other hand. It's like a new outbreak.

Just a little more info and a shameless bump for the morning crowd - he was also diagnosed with a throat infection about 8 days ago. He had a total awake time yesterday of about 4.5 hours - 90 minutes in the morning and about 3 hours in the afternoon and is still asleep now apart from two brief feeds at 1am and 5.30am

That looks so sore and nasty. Good luck at the GPS let’s us know what they say Flowers

LyannaStarktheWolfMaid · 30/11/2017 07:11

A&E. Sounds like a nasty infection of some sort, you don’t want to mess around with that.

Prusik · 30/11/2017 07:19

We went to out of hours on Saturday which is based at our A&E. They seemed to think it would heal with the antibiotics he was on but our GP said Friday it would probably need IV antibiotics.

Call me a cynic but our local paediatric ward was full over the weekend, as was the second nearest one on sunday night and the nearest paediatric beds available are about 40 miles away so I'm wondering if we got swiftly turned away for that reason.

I'm not panicking as he's beginning to eat and drink again but the weekend was awful - one day he went from 3pm-11.30am with zero food or milk! That has happened more often than I'd like over the past ten days! He's consistently eaten and drunk for 48 hours now though

Haudyerwheesht · 30/11/2017 07:30

Given how much he's sleeping I'd be insisting on an immediate referral to paeds

Haudyerwheesht · 30/11/2017 07:34

Seriously - what's the worst that can happen if you insist on getting him seen by specialists today? I'd potentially waste people's time a million times over rather than regret not doing it that one time. (And I'm not someone who goes if not needed but in two instances where nobody was listening I was right to be determined and one time potentially saved ds' life)

Surpriseeggsforbreakfast · 30/11/2017 07:37

GP here, I would definitely get him seen asap. It looks like either cellulitis or some sort of herpetic infection, if he's not eating and drinking and it's spreading then it needs to be checked.

laurzj82 · 30/11/2017 07:39

My mum died of sepsis. Please go to A&E today. Hope he is feeling better soon Flowers

InDubiousBattle · 30/11/2017 07:41

I'd take him to the gp this morning tbh. If I couldn't get in i'd go to a&e.

Prusik · 30/11/2017 07:44

The sleeping is a slightly ongoing issue, link for context , but I 100% agree with you. I'm going to push the GP quite firmly today. He's the one that said IV antibiotics but the a&e gp just gave us an option of being seen again on the sunday after seeing her Saturday night

Prusik · 30/11/2017 07:45

I rang and booked a GP appointment yesterday evening for today as I wanted to see the same GP that we saw twice last week

How did it start op? The wound on her hand I mean

Prusik · 30/11/2017 08:28

It started like a black mark. Looked like a he'd pinched his skin in a toy or something and that it had scabbed over. It wasn't really a scab though as there was never an open wound. Blisters then appeared around it and it became very red and swollen. I feel like this on his hand is now the healing process but it's still absolutely rank

OrlandaFuriosa · 30/11/2017 08:35

You’ve got surpriseegg...

KhalliWali · 30/11/2017 08:36

Is it impetigo? That blisters and weeps.

Minimonkeysmum · 30/11/2017 08:40

Could it be scabies (that's now infected)? That can start with a grey line and is often on the hands. Not sure it explains the other symptoms though!
