Currently in hospital since last night with DS who is 3. Scans show masses on his brain. Drs believe them to be tumours, likely to have come from his abdomen.

Waiting for more scans/tests etc. staff are being overly nice to us which is worrying me more (though they did refer us to social services last night as they thought DH or I had fractured DS' skull.

Feel incredibly sick. He is 3 years old. Please hold my hand.

Glad you managed some sleep Trazzle and that you have such good family support

Sending continued prayers and positive thoughts from across the channel x

Trazzletoes · 05/10/2012 11:42

He's back, watching Waybuloo. Coming out with hysterically funny DCisms and being generally gorgeous. Bourbon creams and black currant juice have sorted him right out.

Look if you want a chocolate biscuit then a bourbon doesn't cut it. If you don't want a chocolate biscuit then...oh hang on, I have no idea what it's like not to want a chocolate biscuit!

Badvoc · 05/10/2012 11:56

Chocolate hobnobs :)
Thinking of you and your ds xx

DameFanny · 05/10/2012 12:01

I'd eat a bourbon over a chocolate hobnob any day.

Light still burning over Norfolk

DreamsTurnToGoldDust · 05/10/2012 12:02

Bourbons hit the spot everytime! Blackcurrent for DS and dipped in coffee for you yummmm.

Halfling · 05/10/2012 12:08

Oh bless you Waybuloo, bourbons and juice! Sending lots of hugs and kisses to your DS. Here's hoping that he springs back from all this soon.

I am praying that he gets properly and correctly diagnosed and receives the best treatment.

Having your DM and DSis is going to be a source of great support and perspective.

So pleased he is back on the ward and he sounds in good spirits. I am pleased he has the biscuits he likes!

Did I understand it right, can he go home for the weekend?

Such good news that your mum will be their soon.

Thinking of you all, x

Pavlovthecat · 05/10/2012 12:08

Glad to hear you have family support, it will make a huge difference that you can all be there for each other.

This light is still shining in Wiltshire for you, I hope all our positive vibes are getting through xxx

AnyaJetski · 05/10/2012 12:57

Glad you got a good night's sleep and that help from family and friends is at hand. Hope and pray all goes well with your ds - glad to hear his sense of humour is intact.

blizy · 05/10/2012 13:00

I'm glad to hear you have a supportive family, your ds sounds like such a fun and brave little man. x

dikkertjedap · 05/10/2012 13:08

Oh, I am sorry - I thought that maybe they would let him wait at home until they have all the test results and a treatment plan.

How is he now? Does he understand that he will have to stay for quite a while? It must be so hard for him but so far he is doing so well.

x

BuffyFairy · 05/10/2012 13:13

Oh bless him, so adorable. Glad he's enjoying his bourbons now.

I have no idea how these things work. Have they started chemo or is the line put in so they can start it soon?

Glad you got some decent sleep too. Hope dd gets better soon so she can visit her big brother.

Such good news your DM will be with you soon and fantastic that you'll have dsis with you over the weekend. The support will keep your spirit up as much as ds's.

If there's anything you want sending from here let me know.

Huge hugs x

RachelHRD · 05/10/2012 13:38

So glad to hear he has got through both GA's and is happy and enjoying his food again - little ones are amazing they cope much better with operations and medical stuff than we adults do!

Glad you got some sleep it's so important to keep your strength up too and glad DM is coming back to help.

Big hugs for you all xx

On Monday it would be worth discovering whether there are play facilities and play people outside the nursing staff. GOSH have them or used to, mainly volunteers I think but possibly trained , a god send. Means that you can have a cup of coffee and they have something else and someone else to play with, not just their boring old stuff. He'll still need you and DH 99 per cent of the time but it can just be a relief to know someone else is there.

madwomanintheattic · 05/10/2012 14:33

Yay for bourbons and juice. Smile sometimes it's the little things that keep you going x

Kittenkatzen · 05/10/2012 15:16

Bourbons dunked in blackcurrant juice is yum :)

Your mum sounds brilliant, so glad you have supportive family.

InVeryveryBadTaste · 05/10/2012 16:21

oh so glad trazzle that your ds is back on the ward and eating biscuits - cant beat biscuits Grin
And where would we be without mums - no matter how old we are

Just a wee idea - could your dh talk to his emplyers about parental leave or compassionate leave? Not sure what your situation is and certainly not an expert on emplyment issues but it would seem unthinkable if your dh could not be with your ds at this time.

Maybe if your dsis is with you over the weekend and can sit with your brave brave boy it will give you and dh a little time alone to get your heads straight cos i'm sure they must be pickled with all the info you're had to get your heads around
light still shining herexx

Trazzletoes · 05/10/2012 17:49

80 days of chemo is about to start now. This is it .

Hopefully we should be able to go home at the end of the weekend for a week or so before the next course begins.

This is it. This is the start of your boy getting better.

I won't pretend to know what you've already been through or what you're facing, but I do have immediate family experience of cancer treatment. Try to remember that chemo is his friend. A very, very difficult friend to have to rely on, but it is his friend.

Holding you all in my thoughts, and hoping you're all home together soon xx
