Currently in hospital since last night with DS who is 3. Scans show masses on his brain. Drs believe them to be tumours, likely to have come from his abdomen.

Waiting for more scans/tests etc. staff are being overly nice to us which is worrying me more (though they did refer us to social services last night as they thought DH or I had fractured DS' skull.

Feel incredibly sick. He is 3 years old. Please hold my hand.

Sending love and strength from the Cotswolds x

BuffyFairy · 04/10/2012 20:29

Good news that he's getting the MRI done tonight. Well some his drs for fighting for that. I'm sure they wouldn't let him have 2 GAs close together if it was harmful. Try not to dwell on the fact you might not see him beforehand, you'll be there when he wakes up.

His gruff also rucksack filled with yummy snacks sounds great Grin

Praying that the scan and the biopsy bring some positive news and that the chemo helps. Really hope they get the results back sooner.

Do let me know if there's anything I can send. Always here for you at any time, just wish I was closer to be of more help.

DH sends his love and DD sends big sloppy kisses.

Sending you all the strength and love for you and your family to deal with the diagnosis. My heart goes out to you it really does as it's the worst thing to be told .. Ur world stops. There are other mums and dads who are on mums net who are wonderfully supportive, I think the thread is called children with cancer. Make sure you look after yourself, remember to eat and drink as you need to keep as strong as possible x x

Hammy01 · 04/10/2012 21:09

Sorry I didn't want to jump to conclusions about the diagnosis but the parents on that thread I mentioned are amazing and have very good hand holding skills as they all sadly speak from experience . Sending you more hugs x x

Trazzletoes · 04/10/2012 21:11

Thanks Spirael, Dawn and someone else I saw in the area but can't find again... I'm certain that I will be calling on you soon enough. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hammy you didn't. Don't worry. They are as certain as they can be without having test results. There is nothing else seen as even a possible option.

A bright splodge from the North East for you.
Your DS is truly beautiful. They are so precious and little, but remarkably strong and resilient too. Make sure you take care of yourself as well as your dc.

A light for you and your little lad in Melbourne.

chocolateistheenemy · 04/10/2012 21:49

I am thinking of you and your beautiful boy and hoping he's enjoying the surprises in his Gruffalo bag (((())))

RachelHRD · 04/10/2012 21:56

Thinking of you all and your beautiful boy. Hope all has gone well with the MRI today and goes well tomorrow. Echo what PP's say - my DD has had 7 op's and always been hungry after coming around - they seem to tolerate it better than adults!

I'm not sure which hospital you are at but ask the nurses if there is a Ronald Macdonald house nearby - it's a charity which provides accommodation for parents of sick children either within the hospital grounds or close by and the whole family can stay if necessary. My DD is under St George's in Tooting and we stayed there when she was having a big op - it meant that one of us could be on the ward with her on a super uncomfortable pull out bed and the other could be close by getting a better nights sleep so we could alternate nights which is so important when you need to keep your strength up and get some rest.

Big hugs from here in Guildford, Surrey and thinking of you all so much. My DD was born with birth defects so we spent a lot of her first 2 years in hospital so I know how tough it can be especially when you have another child at home.

thewhistler · 04/10/2012 21:57

Thinking of all of you over a difficult night.

As well as hungry he may be v thirsty. Lightly chilled drinks are brilliant. Ice lollies can help. He may do superbly aimed projectile vomiting too, and then still be hungry. So bring the wet wipes and a couple of extra changes.

Don't forget for you, if you wake in the middle if the night, things always seem worse. It's called the 3 o'clock blues. But there will be someone on this thread who is also awake and thinking of you.

Keep us updated if you can.

London Splodge.

Wheresthedamndog · 04/10/2012 21:58
