Currently in hospital since last night with DS who is 3. Scans show masses on his brain. Drs believe them to be tumours, likely to have come from his abdomen.

Waiting for more scans/tests etc. staff are being overly nice to us which is worrying me more (though they did refer us to social services last night as they thought DH or I had fractured DS' skull.

Feel incredibly sick. He is 3 years old. Please hold my hand.

BuffyFairy · 04/10/2012 17:53

So many of us are rooting for you and your very ds. All these beacons of hope and love all over the world.

I hope he got his MRI today or at least got a good meal poor lad. It must have been tough for him and difficult for you to explain why.

It's good news that they can start on the chemo? That means they can try to fight this?

You'll be in my thoughts the whole way.

dikkertjedap · 04/10/2012 18:15

I hope he has had his MRI today, poor boy. Does he have to fast again for tomorrow?

It is awful what he has to go through but you mentioned a line for chemo so I take he is going to get treatment, that gives hope.

I wish you and your boy lots of strength.

x

PrincessSymbian · 04/10/2012 18:26

I hope that they got the MRI done today. I hope that when they do do it, it brings hope.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 04/10/2012 18:30

Oh, no, so sorry for the horrible news. It's a bloody bastard of a disease Sad My friend's DS was diagnosed with NEuroblastoma 2.5 years ago. I know they have found the Neuroblastoma Society to be really helpful.

Hi all. I'm at home tonight with DD. DH has reported that the MRI is still pending... DS was on the emergency list and someone else became extremely sick so rightly grabbed the last spot on the actual list. Though apparently DS' doctors kicked off and made a fuss about how important it was that he get scanned today. They are working overtime tonight to get him seen. And for that we are thankful. He should be heading off between 8 and 8.30.

He can then eat up until midnight (I don't think I would fancy eating having just come round from a GA, so we aren't expecting him to have anything) before having to fast for tomorrow's GA. However, he is first on the list and should be heading up around 8.30-9am. I really hope that having 2 GAs so close together isn't harmful.

Unfortunately, with dropping DD at nursery in the morning and having to get to the hospital via the MOT garage (nice timing) I'm highly unlikely to see him before he goes under. Super-gutted about that, but at least he's being seen first.

Tomorrow brings a biopsy of his primary tumour, bone marrow sample and line in, as I mentioned before. I think that whatever the prognosis, he would get some chemo, so I don't necessarily think that this is massively positive in itself, but I'm taking comfort from it nevertheless. It looks to be at least the end of next week, if not the week after that we will get results and we will quite possibly be in hospital until Christmas.

Thank you all so much. My map has expanded Grin
