The 13-Storey Treehouse is the first book in the completely addictive Treehouse series, written by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton. Five books later and this series has readers completely hooked by its hilarious adventures and cracking cartoon-style illustrations.

The 65-Storey Treehouse is the fifth book of wacky treehouse tales. Andy and Terry's amazing 65-Storey Treehouse now has a pet-grooming salon, a room where it's always your birthday (even when it's not), a lollipop shop, a quicksand pit, an ant farm, a time machine and Tree-NN: a 24-hour-a-day TV news centre keeping you up to date with all the latest treehouse news, current events and gossip. Well, what are you waiting for? Come on up!

My son (9) has read all the Treehouse series this summer holiday(- if I win, I'll donate the books to his school library.) He has also read most Wimpy Kid books but I have to say, he often enjoys about 2 or 3 in a series and then moves on to something new
Eg Timmy Failure, Jeremy Strong's My Brother series, How to train your dragon- just 2 or 3.

His all time top fave however is The Beano- he has every annual from 1969 to date

Susangilley7 · 29/08/2016 16:41

My 9 year old granddaughter loves Enid Blyton's Famous Five series and to a lesser extent The Secret Seven series. I was just the same and devoured them.

asuwere · 29/08/2016 16:58

DS1 loves Diary of a Wimpy Kid - he went from reading the absolute minimum required to asking to get the next 3 books as he loved them. Not sure what caught his imagination with them but he is a fan.

DS2 is a fan of Horrible Histories - he likes that they're fun but also true, he finds them fascinating.

gillygumba · 29/08/2016 21:12

Treasure Hunters
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Famous Five
Middle School
Little Legends

My son always has his nose in a book, although a book has to really capture him or he gets bored. He likes the book series above as they are funny, interesting, include lots of different parts to the story & make him want to keep reading after lights out!!

DS9&7 still love Paddington - they're starting to get the jokes more where Paddington takes everything literally

emmav6 · 01/09/2016 07:37

my son is really enjoying the tom gates' series. He loves the silly humour and illustrations throughout the book.

NicHay · 01/09/2016 07:42

Dork Diaries is my daughters favourite at the moment

LiveLifeWithPassion · 01/09/2016 07:50

Mine loved Horrid Henry and Diary of a Wimpy Kid but never really got into loving much else.

When Ds1 was 10, he read Wolf Brother (by Michelle Paver) It was the first book that he just couldn't put down and went through the whole series.
He would still be reading at 11pm.
He also loves the Percy Jackson series and would read those into the night.

7flipper7 · 01/09/2016 07:56

My eldest who was a reluctant reader loves the Diary of a Wimpy Kid set as they have larger words and interspersed with pictures. My youngest loves the James Patterson 'Treasure Hunter' series. He's only 9 but feels like he is reading proper grown up books.

Ds age 7 can't cope with any peril or nasty atmosphere so avoided chapter books until near the end of Y2.
He has been reading Mr Majeika books (excellent retelling of Gulliver's Travels), some Star Wars graphic novels, and thus has got into Asterix because they are colourful and Obelix looks a bit like Super Mario...

johnchapman1986 · 01/09/2016 09:06

I'm just getting my 8 year old into Goosebumps as I used to read em as a child!

forkhandles4candles · 01/09/2016 09:10

Tom Gates makes them laugh a lot. Swallows and Amazon series currently a hit, because it gives children a sense of what autonomy feels like.

southernsun · 01/09/2016 09:20

Our son is reading my old copies of the Famous Five, he loves the stories as much as I did.

shroney · 01/09/2016 10:15

Ds is enjoying reading the tom gates books and also david walliams books

WowOoo · 01/09/2016 10:22

At the moment it's Mr Gum.
I love reading them to him and doing silly accents. He finds them hilarious.

My youngest has only just got into chapter books, but has inherited How to Train Your Dragon, Diary of a Wimpy kid series and Harry Potter which I'm sure he'll love later too. We have a lot of other books and will let him choose when we've finished all of the Mr Gum.

liz1970 · 01/09/2016 10:53

Mine used to love reading the Horrid Henry books, i think it is because of all the mischeif he gets up too! ;)

Sgray250569 · 01/09/2016 11:10

I'd just love to get my boys to read a series of books, one would be good, and I think edward would love this series, he's having problems with his reading and despite all our efforts cannot get him engaged!

BellaVida · 01/09/2016 11:11

My 4 DC are between 6 and 12.

They have really enjoyed Rainbow Fairies, My Naughty Little Sister, Dork Diaries, The Naughtiest Girl, Jacqueline Wilson, Spy Pups, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Roald Dahl, David Walliams, Enid Blyton Mysteries & others, Tom Gates, Harry Potter, Bear Grylls, Biggles, Percy Jackson, Chronicles of Narnia.

It's so lovely to see them in the book shop excitedly searching for the next book in the series or waiting for the release date.

chamenager · 01/09/2016 11:20

DS is addicted to Beast Quest. He likes it because 'it has lots of fighting' (direct quote). He likes other fast-paced adventure stories too, e.g. Astrosaurs/Astrosaurs Academy, Secret Agent Jack Stalwart, Magic Treehouse, SeaQuest. He also enjoys the Enchanted Wood series, and Roald Dahl books.

Usually he has about 6 books on the go at any time (three of them being, of course, Beast Quest). Given the formulaic nature of Beast Quest books I am surprised he doesn't get confused when reading several of them in parallel!
He enjoyed some of the 'Terry Deary's xxx tales', however as they are based on history, they don't have the clear cut good vs. evil and guaranteed happy end that he fancies. Shades of grey -> no good.

ricola1 · 01/09/2016 11:24

The enchanted wood series by roald dalh. I grew up with it and its so nice to be able to enjoy it again with my kids and its still just as magical!!

freefan · 01/09/2016 11:41

My son is reading his way through the Goosebumps books and also has the Harry Potter collection. He is a really keen reader

freefan · 01/09/2016 11:42

My DS is reading his way through the Goosebumps series and has the Harry Potter books. He loves reading so these sound lovely.

kerryv · 01/09/2016 12:15

My daughter is 10 and has just finished reading all the Harry Potter books. Makes me realise how grown up she is!

alabaster002 · 01/09/2016 15:58

Swallows and Amazons - and coming back into fashion!
