The 13-Storey Treehouse is the first book in the completely addictive Treehouse series, written by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton. Five books later and this series has readers completely hooked by its hilarious adventures and cracking cartoon-style illustrations.

The 65-Storey Treehouse is the fifth book of wacky treehouse tales. Andy and Terry's amazing 65-Storey Treehouse now has a pet-grooming salon, a room where it's always your birthday (even when it's not), a lollipop shop, a quicksand pit, an ant farm, a time machine and Tree-NN: a 24-hour-a-day TV news centre keeping you up to date with all the latest treehouse news, current events and gossip. Well, what are you waiting for? Come on up!

My 8 year old daughter loves Wimpy Kid, TOm Gates and How to Train Your Dragon....but still loves to dip into girly things like Secret Kingdom. She loves dragons and girly fantasy but is really getting into the cartoony style books in a big way. She has loved the Weir-Doh series from Australia as well.

Enid Blyton's St Clares. It is the way she makes boarding school sound so much fun & the weather is always warm with lashings of lemonade!

Although not technically a series my dd has loved reading David Walliams books. Her absolute favourite being Gangsta Granny. She finds them entertaining and easy to read as the stories flow quickly giving her no time to get bored.
She has started to read the Harry Potter books independently now as we are massive potter fans in this house and I used to read them to her when she was younger.
I kept a lot of books from my childhood that have been passed down to her and will be handed to her younger sister too. My favourites being tales of Brer Rabbit and the My naughty little sister books!

My boys at this age (and still as young teens) love anything with lots of plot! Action and adventure books like Alex Rider, young James Bond, and Percy Jackson.

They also like detective series like Montmorency and young Sherlock Holmes.

My tween won't read anything too scary. She has enjoyed the How to Train your dragon series, Diary of a Wimpy a kid, Tom Gates, Timmy Failure and Little House on the Prairie. And 13 story treehouse!

It makes life easier when they get stuck into a series and you can keep feeding them books as they go! Grin

DD (8) has devoured the Famous Five and Secret Seven. Got her Enid Blyton's "mystery" series which she doesn't seem so obsessed with.

Also Nancy Drew and the clue crew (after a recommendation on here) and she's discovered the Animal SOS series in the library. And the Worst Witch.

Wondering about when to try her on boarding school series!

Wigeon · 19/08/2016 09:04

Oh, and she's also discovered the Maisie Hitchins series in the library and always wants to borrow them.

Wimpy Kid
Dork Diaries
Middle School
Tom Gates
Percy Jackson
Barry Loser

Prefers to read series of books, so more of the same to look forward to when first one is finished. Also likes diary type books, and ones where the pages have lots of comic illustrations.

How funny, I had never heard of 13 Storey Treehouse books until my son got one out of the library this week! He will be very excited when I tell him there are more. My boys love, Harry Potter, Mr Gum, Percy Jackson, David Walliams, Tom Gates, Middle School and BigNate. Probably loads more but can't keep track. Oh yes Beast Quest and Sea Quest.

DD (7) loves Enid Blyton, has read the Secret Seven and just started the Famous Five series.
Also the Pony Tails books by the Olympian Pippa Funnell (whom DD wrote to for a school project as someone who inspired her).

ChoccyJules · 23/08/2016 23:19

Oops - and why?
Enid Blyton it's for the adventures and minor peril, Pippa Funnell it is of course the ponies!

My son seems to go back and forth with different series, which have included:

Dinosaur Cove
How to train a Dragon
Roald Dahl books
Fudge (Judy Blume)
Famous Five

Just started on Bottersnikes and Gumble stories. I remember these from my childhood. A bit different from the current tv series.
