For twenty years, picture book classic Guess How Much I Love You has captured the bond between parent and child, as Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare try to describe their love for one another, ending with the heart-warming, and now iconic phrase, “I love you to the moon – and back.”

Author Sam says “I know that somewhere in the world a mum or dad will reach for a copy, and read it to the most precious thing they have in the world. That thought really pleases me.”

In this spirit, we’re asking you to share the loveliest thing your child has ever said to you. Share your child's sweetest words and you'll be in the running to win a Guess How Much I Love You limited edition tote bag, a signed copy of the anniversary edition, a cuddly Nutbrown Hare plush toy, stickers and a poster.

In the meantime you can also enjoy these wonderful free Guess How Much I Love You activity sheets, available to download and print out.

I love that my DS frequently gives me a huge hug and either shouts at the top of his voice, or whispers in my ear "mummy you are my best friend".

Also, that only my kisses work at fixing scrapes and bruises - if daddy tries to kiss something better the screams only get louder until I re-kiss it!

HammeringBird · 23/06/2015 22:57

DD 3.8 said to me recently "I love you Mummy. I'm going to keep you". I'm not normally very sentimental but that got me.

She and DS (6.6) like to say "You're my best mummy, and Daddy is my best daddy, and DS/DD is my best DS/DD", they can't leave anyone out. DD in particular does this and sometime it ends with "you're all my best friends" and sometimes the list goes on with "and DCousin is my best cousin and Granny is my best granny" etc.

We say back to them that "you're my best [insert name]" or "the best [name] in the world" to say we love them both the same but they're also both special.

Son1 said he would always live with me

Tapasfairy · 25/06/2015 07:18

"Mummy you look like a princess, just perfect"
When I had got dressed up.

It made me cry.

My 3 year old son was talking about my baby in my tummy and asked if it likes Frozen (the film). He then went on to sing 'Let it go' to my tummy :-)

OrnamentalAsAnything · 26/06/2015 13:25

My three-yo told me:
I love you so much I could squeeze you.
But then he went on:
I love you so much I could squeeze your head off.

Now that's sweet, huh?!

mjmooseface · 27/06/2015 08:45

Aww! :)

My son has ASD and is non verbal but these last few days, I've been singing a little song from Dinosaur Train that he loves, whilst changing his nappy (which he hates!), and when i finish singing he starts clapping! He even tried vaguely singing it back and i clapped him after! :) special moments!

When my ds was still in the stage of you not being entirely sure what they have said, he crawled in to my bed early one morning and kept saying "bisses for bearfast".
In my half asleep state I got a little cross with his repeated requests for biscuits for breakfast.
Turns out my tiny boy wanted kisses for his breakfast, oh the guilt Sad

Susangilley7 · 27/06/2015 20:20

My granddaughter said to my daughter - Mummy I love you more than biscuits!!

CraftyCrafterson · 27/06/2015 20:25

I caught 3yo dd hugging her 9mo ds today and whispering to her "you're my sweet darling"

I may have had slightly wet eyes... Blush

Mummatron3000 · 17/07/2015 06:56

My 2 year old DS told me I looked like a princess when I was trying on a dress to go to a wedding - I suppose he's hardly seen me out of t shirts and stretchy trousers Grin

TracyKNixon · 17/07/2015 07:07

Mummy, you are like a flower - pretty and lovely!

mave · 17/07/2015 07:20

My 3 year old daughter says mummy you're beautiful, I love you!! She says it randomly throughout the day bless her.

Annimousey · 17/07/2015 07:43

"Mummy is beautiful", said on a day where my confidence had been knocked to pieces so hearing that was definitely something I needed!

jt75 · 17/07/2015 07:46

Looking at an Egyptian mummy - "That's not you mummy".

Haahooooo · 17/07/2015 08:24

When DS (1) took his first steps, DD (2) said:

"Look mama he can walk now! (pause for thought) Does he like Frozen now?"

She also talks about DH when he is away for work "when papa is home I will be happy".

Bless Smile

Haahooooo · 17/07/2015 08:27

Oh and one more: "mama when I am big and you are little I will push you in the buggy" Grin

I was standing in front of the mirror, unsure about a new outfit. My DS2 who was about 3 at the time, came up to me, held my hand and said 'Mummy you look beautiful' I was so choked!
