For twenty years, picture book classic Guess How Much I Love You has captured the bond between parent and child, as Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare try to describe their love for one another, ending with the heart-warming, and now iconic phrase, “I love you to the moon – and back.”

Author Sam says “I know that somewhere in the world a mum or dad will reach for a copy, and read it to the most precious thing they have in the world. That thought really pleases me.”

In this spirit, we’re asking you to share the loveliest thing your child has ever said to you. Share your child's sweetest words and you'll be in the running to win a Guess How Much I Love You limited edition tote bag, a signed copy of the anniversary edition, a cuddly Nutbrown Hare plush toy, stickers and a poster.

In the meantime you can also enjoy these wonderful free Guess How Much I Love You activity sheets, available to download and print out.

My Son can't talk much as he has an undiagnosed genetic condition that affects his neurological health and causes him to have neurological regressions, and what he does say is almost all echoed phrases that make no sense at all, but when I get ready in the morning and finish my hair, he always walks over to me and strokes my hair and says "gorgeous mum" and gives me a kiss.

This isn't repeated behaviour as I'm a single mum, it's all just him. It makes my day every morning.

My little one always says 'Mummy you don't need make up, you're already pretty'. Always cheers me up on my 'ugly' days

I was getting ready to go out on a girls night out and feeling a bit frumpy. I asked my daughter Maddie 6, If i looked ok. she replied "Mummy you look nice, but it doesn't matter what you actually look like, you are beautiful inside" Well that was it. floodgates!!

I just read this book for my son (just 3) it's one of his favourite bedtime books.

The other day I was quite upset after a frustrating time trying to get my dh a doctors appointment for the third day in a row and he came over to me, bent down a bit with his hands on his knees and said, "I think someone needs a big squeezy cuddle" climbed on my lap and nearly choked me by hugging so tight. :)

I was really upset one day and couldn't help but cry a little. My DW who was 2 at the time disappeared into the kitchen and moved a stool and was trying to get something off the surface. She then came back into the sitting room clutching a tea bag saying 'I'm going to make you a cup of tea to make you feel better mummy' as she walked to her toy oven. I have to confess this didn't help the tears!!

Last year whilst pregnant and exhausted I caught a really nasty cold and it totally floored me. One day I nodded off on the sofa whilst DS1 (3) watched a DVD. I woke up to find he had covered me in a blanket, bought me a teddy to cuddle and was stroking my hair. I looked up at him and he said "shhhh, it's ok mummy, I'll take care of you" kissed me on the forehead and told me that he loved me.

Reading some of these I definitely have something in my eye.

That he feels sorry for his friends because they dont have me as a mum. Melted my heart!

My daughter recently stated that she loved me more than 'Baby' her doll that she takes everywhere with her. Its a big compliment!

"Mummy, I want you to be a tortoise. Because tortoises live until they are really old, like eleventy hundred. I don't want you to die. I want you to be eleventy hundred and not dead."

I feel so loved

I always say to my 2 year old daughter 'who's beautiful?' she never replies and I say 'you are.' One day, and she's never done it since, when I asked her who was beautiful she replied with 'Mamma.' It made me smile. Even though a few days later she woke up in the morning and told me I smelled of horse poo - ah well!

lucyhac · 20/07/2015 15:44

The best thing my niece has ever said to me was when I was teaching her to swim when I took her on holiday - after a few days she looked at me and said I'm not frightened any more - it still brings tears to my eyes now.

eve394 · 20/07/2015 22:33

I miss you mummy x

Bellroyd · 28/07/2015 16:23

Will you look after me, Mum?
