For twenty years, picture book classic Guess How Much I Love You has captured the bond between parent and child, as Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare try to describe their love for one another, ending with the heart-warming, and now iconic phrase, “I love you to the moon – and back.”

Author Sam says “I know that somewhere in the world a mum or dad will reach for a copy, and read it to the most precious thing they have in the world. That thought really pleases me.”

In this spirit, we’re asking you to share the loveliest thing your child has ever said to you. Share your child's sweetest words and you'll be in the running to win a Guess How Much I Love You limited edition tote bag, a signed copy of the anniversary edition, a cuddly Nutbrown Hare plush toy, stickers and a poster.

In the meantime you can also enjoy these wonderful free Guess How Much I Love You activity sheets, available to download and print out.

My daughter is two in a couple of months, and her vocabulary is improving although sentences are not happening at the moment. That said, she has recently started shouting "mummmmmeeee!" at me and running to give me a hug when I picked her up from nursery. It's lovely.

DD aged 2 said to me "I love Mummy and jam". Made my heart melt because I knew she totally meant it. The innocence and simple absolute pleasure that little ones get from life, we can learn so much from them.

My lovely 3.5 yr old has taken to telling me I look like a princess whenever I wear a dress! Don't even know where he got that from but it's so sweet!

nicosmum · 22/06/2015 21:52

I said to ds "you're wonderful and I'm so proud that you're my son", he said to me "mummy I'm so proud.. that you're my friend". :)

CMOTDibbler · 22/06/2015 21:53

When my lunch came the other week, and ds(9) pulled it across the table and enquired how I'd like him to cut my pizza (I have an upper limb disability). I thanked him and he said 'But mummy, I'm here to be your hand instead'. I nearly blubbed.

I have bad scarring on my face. When did was 3 we were talking about wishes and what we'd use them on if we had them.

Without hesitation she said "I would wish for your marks on your face to be gone so that you feel happy again"

Made me cry Smile

We have struggled to ttc#2 for 3.5 years now.
We thought DD was unaware but just this week at bedtime, she said 'I'm glad we haven't got a baby mummy, because I like having you all to myself'.
Just the thought of her protecting my feelings melts me completely.

My 2 and a bit year old leaned over while I was putting on his shoes, looked me straight in the eye while stroking my hair and said "Mummy you're soooo pretty".
It was totally unprompted and I immediately burst into tears! He then looked really concerned about upsetting me and has never said anything like that since! Smile

My 3yo tells me 'mummy we're best friends forever' with a big hug aswell, super cute!

FeelingSmurfy · 22/06/2015 22:03

When I grow big and you grow little I'm gonna marry you Grin

"This is my friend Mummy"

DS age 2

Lindy2 · 22/06/2015 22:14

From my 4 year old "I love you mummy, I am going to be really good today to happy you up".

MummySparkle · 22/06/2015 22:18

DS (2) has recently started becoming more adventurous with his talking. The other week I tucked him in and said night night. As I was walking out of his bedroom I heard a little voice say 'night night mumma' for the very first time. My heart skipped a beat and my eyes welled up!

A few days later, whilst in the car, I told DS I love him and straight away he said 'I know' Grin

DD is just 1, but her word of the moment is "Wow!" Whilst pointing at anything interesting to her her joy in the tiniest of things is so wonderful to see :)

Four-year old Fred : " Mummies are special, aren't they? They can't be lost - and they can't be given away....."

kateandme · 23/06/2015 00:50

After reading a book with a rocket in.

"I'll love you forever and then ill get in a rocket and love you further"

I have truly terrible feet due to a lifetime of high heel wearing and running abuse, but nevertheless make the best of them and try to paint my toenails from time to time. I made a pretty clumsy attempt to paint my toenails mint green with gold flecks on. My two year old son clocked my toenails straight away. Although still struggling to pronounce words and construct complex sentences, he managed to say, ' I love your nails mummy' and then further reiterated, 'I love your nails and I love your feet mummy!' i could not contemplate any other person on this planet saying such a thing - a child's blind love!

My daughter's favourite phrases are, 'I love love love you! I don't just love you, I love love love you' or, 'I love you more than you love me'.

As you might have gathered, my kids are very young. Despite the tiredness, these moments make it so worthwhile!

My 4 year old was asking about rainbows. I was going through the colours, and when we hit "Violet" (her newborn sister's name), she excitably announced that that means she would "always have a little piece of the rainbow" with her wherever she went.

Vickisuli · 23/06/2015 11:35

My 4 year old boy has to give example sentences of his key words as part of his homework. When I asked him to make a sentence with the word 'man', he said: "My dad is a man, and he is lovely."

Bless.

SuzCG · 23/06/2015 11:58

My 6 year old daughter was talking to me on Mothers Day about the fact that I only got 2 cards because I only had 2 children. I said I thought that I was lucky that I did get 2. She asked me how many children you could have and I told her that my Nanny had 9 to which she replied without a moments hesitation "Well, she was really rich in children!". Aren't we all, whether we have 1 or 10!!

serendipity1980 · 23/06/2015 14:36

When kissing me at bedtime my sweet DS says (while hugging me) 'Mummy, I can't stop hugging you because I love you sooo much.' It really is lovely to hear.

lolapops1 · 23/06/2015 20:28

Told me if I bought a certain top I would look just perfect.

stargirl1701 · 23/06/2015 20:32

DD1 said 'mama cuddles make you feel better and smiles too' after running into the table last week! Too cute at 2!

silverglitterpisser · 23/06/2015 20:43
