To celebrate the publication of George & the Noisy Baby, we're working with Ladybird Books to find out which books you read to your children to help send them to sleep.

Share your favourites on this thread and one lucky participant will receive a whole bundle of Peppa Pig storybooks and other exciting goodies. There are also ten copies of George & the Noisy Baby for the runners up.

To enter our competition, just write in and let us know which books you read your DCs when bedtime has gone awry. We want to hear about classic storybooks and new finds – does ‘Goodnight Moon’ work for your baby, or is ‘Go The F* To Sleep’ more their thing? Share your stories on this thread before 10am on Monday 30 March. George & The Noisy Baby is published on 5 March 2015.

This competition is now closed!
And the winner is...

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to everyone for contributing!

NerrSnerr · 04/03/2015 02:29

My baby loves Dear Zoo and The Baby Catalogue.

godeeva · 04/03/2015 02:42

We can't get enough of Laghu the crow and little Yashmak has lost his smile!

Then it's 2 songs and lights out

HelloDoris · 04/03/2015 06:57

DD 1 loves The Cat in the Hat and other Dr Zeus stories, quite hard though to read after a long day at work.. Certainly keep my mind whirring.

DD2 adores the Hairy Maclairy stories and Monkey Puzzle.

We have a couple of stories though that we always save for jut before bed Little Ones bedtime and The Paper Dolls both really gentle and calming.

KittieCat · 04/03/2015 08:43

We love The Tale of the Greedy Fish. It's a lovely book with really detailed pics where you always see something new. Better still it's got a 'charitable' story behind it being published. It's DS's and my favourite! www.thegreedyfish.com

iheartpedropony · 04/03/2015 10:34

My 2 yo loves Where's Spot. She is so active it's one of the only books she sits still too. Doesn't make her sleep but an important part of her wind down.

My 3 yo loves the Blue Kangaroo series. If it's been a busy day she has been known to fall asleep being read to. I love those days! ??

Onethirdamidwife · 04/03/2015 11:26

Any Julia Donaldson books - especially a squash and a squeeze and monkey puzzle, owl babies and my daughters personalised lost my name book.

I look forward to when she is older and I can read the enchanted forest books by Enid Blyton

shakeyjake · 04/03/2015 12:13

For dd(3) we have to read super worm, gruffalo and any of the underpants books and at the moment for ds(6) the children's encyclopaedia on space ??

MakeTeaNotWar · 04/03/2015 14:58

ur favourite bedtimes stories are Jon Klassen's books "I Want My Hat Back" and "This is Not My Hat". We read it in silly voices and mimic the expressions on the animals faces and they makes us really chuckle

Barbeasty · 04/03/2015 16:41

We leave DS with the Gruffalo and he points to all the animals in the wood before falling asleep. After a year in his cot it's looking battered but it still works.

AndThisIsTrue · 04/03/2015 17:04

My nearly 2yr old DS likes One Ted falls out of bed or Snuggle up sleepy ones. He has only recently started to sit through proper stories, until then it was more Thats not my... Books and other lift the flap type books.

Who's in the loo by Jeanne Willis and Ten little pirates by Mike Brownlow.

Bringmewineandcake · 04/03/2015 21:30

Sleepy Kittens - the one from Despicable Me. We bought it at universal studios when DD was a tiny lentil sized thing in my tummy.
And the Big Night Night book. DD loves tucking the baby in bed at the end of the book.

seimum · 04/03/2015 22:55

Marks place

MarkingMyPlace9 · 05/03/2015 08:06

My DS loves a Bedtime Story. Atm I'm reading Him The Thomas The Tank Engine Collection, before that was The Winnie The Pooh Collection. He likes a nice long story to help Him go off to sleep before Bed. When we have finished Thomas The Tank Engine, we'll start some of my old Enid Blyton Collections that I have kept from my Childhood Smile

SandyFlipFlop · 05/03/2015 10:44

Peepo and Each,Peach Pear Plum are both favourites in this house.

My 4yr old is currently a big fan of Winnie the Witch and Ella Bella Ballerina.
I am waiting to start reading some Enid Blyton to her as I have such lovely memories of it from being a child :-)

georgedawes · 05/03/2015 11:36

I think it's more the routine of reading a nice story and having a cuddle before bed that helps dd sleep, rather than the actual book, if that makes sense. She loves all sorts including Julia Donaldson books, lots of princess stories and we're just about to start Charlie and the Chocolate factory.

xxgeexx · 05/03/2015 11:40

rachheap2014 · 05/03/2015 11:54

My little girl is 2.5 years and she loves nothing better then a good bedtime story we my 2 boys are in primary school they always bring books back so we read them together

Emrob86 · 05/03/2015 12:10

I try to choose relaxing and soothing books for bedtime to get my 13-month-old daughter in the right mood for sleeping.

One of our favourites is a book called A Book Of Sleep about how different animals sleep. The illustrations are so beautiful and the words are lovely. I love reading it and my daughter really enjoys the pictures.

randdom · 05/03/2015 12:16

My son loves the Jolly postman but really anything which which rhymes!
