Well hello! 👋

Re weekend plans - had a few beers by the river tonight with a friend which was lovely, then home for a bucket of sushi.

DH on late shifts all weekend so going to take the opportunity to sit in the garden and and eat and drink nice things, especially as my horrible neighbours are away.

Going to Madrid on Thursday (recs welcome!) so will enjoy being quiet until then.

musixa · 09/06/2023 22:59

We're forecast a great day weather-wise so playing it by ear - usual internal battle between wanting a lie-in after getting up at 6am all week versus not wanting to waste the day by getting up too late. Not helping myself by being on the wine tonight 😁

It's about 25 years since I went to Madrid so can't really help with recommendations, other than to find somewhere very airconditioned at midday.

When I went, I booked on a day tour to the Alhambra which was amazing and the standout memory of the holiday.

DH & I went for a long walk after work, got ice cream, had a few drinks, on the way home decided we fancied kfc 😳He just went to bed & I’m watching Brooklyn 99.

Tomorrow off to a pub garden for lunch and drinks.

I am LOVING the weather in London! Can’t wait for it to get hotter.

Catchasingmewithspiders · 09/06/2023 23:13

The weekend is gardening, gardening and more gardening. We have a smallholding so we are making the most of the weather whilst we can as you never know when its going to turn wet in Wales!

Walkerseverywhere · 09/06/2023 23:16

I am binge watching the walking dead, it’s my first time seeing it! And half planning where in the world I might like to relocate to with my husband when the really scary parts come on 😂 My top two are wales or New Zealand

I really wish I could get into gardening, but I seem to be jinxed. I enthusiastically planted some shrubs once, and they got eaten by squirrels. Tried some in large planters but they failed to thrive. The only things that grow well in my garden are the weeds. My sister is brilliant with plants and has a beautiful garden - if we go to a garden centre together, she's the one buying plants while I'm the one looking at overpriced scented candles and sloping off to the cafe 😄

See at least its cheaper to be into one or the other

I vote for Wales, 99% of my friends get lost trying to find me despite my very specific directions and an annotated map. Zombies have no chance. Unless it's an amazon driver in which case we are screwed because they can track you down anywhere

musixa · 10/06/2023 00:17

Wales for sure - incredible coastline, mountains, unspoilt countryside and a zombie-free zone.

We’ve been talking about where to move to for a couple of weeks now and when I started watching the walking dead a few days ago I said we needed to start factoring zombies into our plans and move somewhere rural where there’s not many people to turn into zombies and get us 😂

It’s so beautiful isn’t it, we’ve been a few times for holidays and everywhere we’ve been we’ve fallen in love with.

HeidiUpTheMountain · 10/06/2023 00:24

We’re both desperate to be outside after a week working at home, so we are going for a mooch round a market town, pub lunch and sit outside with a drink tomorrow. If the storms leave us alone, that will probably extend into the afternoon. No big plans so no pressure. I’m looking forward to a bit of a lie in, too.

The downside of course is the potential for zombie sheep, they outnumber us here 100's to 1, if they get a taste for human flesh it could get a bit messy

We grow most of our own food and I like to think we would survive in the event of an apocalypse. The reality of course is I'm dead the moment my inhaler runs out or my glasses break 😂

Oh fab, Madrid, you'll have to tell us all about it, I've not been but it's on my wishlist.

Oooh whereabouts in Wales?

Dh and I recently relocated and we very nearly moved to Brecon, I love Abergavenny too, lived in Swansea many years ago, just adore Wales.

@Walkerseverywhere I vote Wales too. Ended up in Worcestershire (more sensible for DH's job) not a million miles away, that would fit your boxes too!

Great day planned today, need to do a few chores then my friend is coming over and we're going for a long hike, then back to mine for a few gins and food.

The weather's going to turn tomorrow I think so I better do some gardening too, and clean the chicken coop.

AlisonDonut · 10/06/2023 08:31

Morning.

We've had a busy week so it is a quiet weekend for us [like we like it].

We've fed the numerous cats that decided to live in our garden, and are having toast and coffee. Then the OH is off to the Boulangerie for bread and the supermarket for cat treats. I will be cooking a curry for our main today with some nan bread, and I have a friend coming over to pick up her plants I've been looking after whilst she has been back in the UK.

After that I'll be potting on a range of brussels sprouts and cabbage plants I bought last week and fixing up a flea beetle free netted area for them to live in until I plant them in the potager.

KimberleyClark · 10/06/2023 08:38

Unusually busy weekend for me - had friends round last night, meeting some other friends for coffee later today and going to a surprise birthday meal for my brother tomorrow night!

Totally... The nutshell is a mum and 2 kids who's default volume is screaming from approx 6am until 10pm. If it gets too loud for mum she turns the radio on loud. In the summer the screaming is mostly in the garden. Repeat ad infinitum.

Oh fuck that sounds horrendous. Of all the worst neighbours we've had, I put the noisy ones as the worst, because there's just no let up - it's exhausting.

Over40Overdating · 10/06/2023 10:13

A very one today - currently sitting in a park cafe with a giant egg sandwich before having a wander round the market.

Some drinks by the river later with a friend. Tomorrow the plan is sit in the sun and read!

I didn’t even think about zombie sheep! There aren’t any zombie animals in the walking dead (yet…?)

I definitely wouldn’t survive a zombie apocalypse no matter where I am but I can factor it in as far as ‘where is a nice place to get killed by zombies’ 😂

Thank you for your vote! I will look into Worcestershire as well, I like the sauce so it already has something in the pro list!

Funnily enough I’m in Wales and fantasising about moving to Scotland where it’s 10 degrees cooler!

😂

North East wales, in Denbighshire, the bit all the tourists zip through on the way to snowdonia so we get beautiful countryside that's not over run with tourists

FufferPish · 10/06/2023 11:24

Lovely day for me, getting a bale of hay for my pets, some pottering in the garden, mountain bike ride. Informal so have to finish some work that didn't get done yesterday as I went on another bike ride!
