Being consistently told you don't know tiredness, pain, etc etc simply because you don't have children is not only false, it's offensive

So much this. If I'm in pain I'm in pain, not some 'I'm suffering worse than you' Olympic event.

Exactly.

I'm not saying there isn't worse pain, or that someone else's pain isn't horrendous, I just want to have a voice, to describe my experience, without being made to feel completely invalidated and minimised.

I saw something very un-AIBU today. Busy train, lots of folk standing. A young man of about 20 was sitting opposite me. He got up and came back a few minutes later escorting an older lady, who had obviously been standing somewhere, to offer her his seat! Restored my faith in human nature 😀

That’s so nice!

I’ve just been to buy pizza because someone mentioned pizza earlier on the thread and I’ve been craving it since 😂 the supermarket was so busy, I’m glad to be home with husband, my pizza, my fan, my tv and the quiet 😁

I finished the jumper I was knitting last night. I won't be doing one requiring grafting the armpits after knitting the top section all in one again - it makes ladder while working on it. I pretty much had to darn the edges. Thank goodness it's all under the arms and not really visible. The other moral of the story is, don't try on a piece your dubious about the same night you finish it, because you're likely to hate it! Wait until the next day at least.

My sister had endometriosis, she was told in her late teens to have a baby and that would cure it.

Reminds me of when I was a teenager and suffering from intense period pain, including fainting and vomiting.

I was advised that the pain would stop once I had a baby.

Helpful.

Me too! The pain didn't stop until I had a hysterectomy.

That was SO standard when I was a teenager!

I’m busy having my first period since having my mirena coil removed last month (and first real, hormone-free period in ~11 years) and I feel horrendous. It’s heavy, I’m cramping, headache-d, dizzy, nauseous but, worst of all, am an emotional mess 😳 praying this will get easier.

Up at 6.30, fed all the animals, poo picked the fields, breakfast.

Went shopping - not to the local town as there's a MASSIVE festa on - Tabuleiros, only held every 4 years, 900,000 visitors expected this weekend 😳- so all roads closed. Home, cuppa and going for a loooong siesta.

Having a lovely weekend so far - went to the matinee of Book of Mormon yesterday and laughed until I hurt, then went to London Zoo for the adults only zoo lates (saw a gorilla making a bed and going to sleep 😭).

Bottomless brunch today for a friend's birthday and already feeling like I'll need to wobble home soon 😄 been a crazy couple of months and have no real plans for the next couple of weekends so looking forward to a lot of sitting down.

Beautiful day here, but I have a foot injury so am kind of grounded. Made a lovely banana/walnut loaf (I've had half of it so far, miss piggy), and a batch of cheese and onion scones. I put them in the freezer along with the remaining cake to keep me from temptation. Sat in the garden and dozed along with the buzzing bees who are enjoying the lavendar and salvia. So nice, I am blessed really.

BCBird · 08/07/2023 18:04
