General chat thread for the without children community

Ooof, just got home after curtailing our day out a bit because it is TOO HOT for me. 27C and very humid. Now nestled in the cool house hoovering up ice cream! Also bought deli stuff for dinner so no heat sources will be required this evening. Why yes, I am menopausal, thank you.

I’m concentrating on getting as much washing dried outside today as possible…rock ‘n’ roll!

I have been madly washing anything I can lay my hands on for the past week, so I’m all for it! Have pretty much run out for now though, even done the blankets and throws and cushion covers, and didn’t want to risk leaving anything out while we were out in case we caught a storm.

Washing like mad this morning and now I’m on the little patch of heaven on earth that is my allotment, planting out pea seedlings and courgettes.

Just come back from a lovely woodland walk - nice and cool under the trees - had a picnic lunch and ice creams by the river.

Got my nails done this morning and something compelled me to just stay on the bus and go to Wilko... Got lots of bits for the pallet sofa we have in the corner of our garden, gave it a lock of paint and now enjoying a glass of wine and admiring my handiwork! (It's going to rain tomorrow and everything will get soaked 😂)

I'm a hardcore night owl but have loads to get done tomorrow after a very lazy today and an evening woodland picnic with friends so I really should put MN down and go to bed 😂

I went out for a few beers last night , up bright and early this morning like pp got a load of washing dome and some batch cooking.

The storm blew in a few hours ago and it absolutely threw it down with almost continuous thunder for about 30 mins with the odd rumble for a long time after.
The wildlife and gardens will love it but I think there may be a few damp bbqs around !

Got the supermarket shop over with in the morning and went to a nature reserve afterwards. Blazing sun again but has really clouded over since we got home

Thank you! I'm sitting in my garden office with the door wide open getting hungry at BBQ smells from my neighbours on both sides lol - it's been solidly sunny and hot here and no storms either, but I've actually got lots done today which I'm pleased with.

Making mental note to get a new gas canister for mine so I can do dinner on it next week!

Enjoyed lie ins, did lots of reading, ice cream also featured yesterday! Been sorting stuff for house and glad the weather is now a bit cooler.

DH on a late shift, it's too hot, so I played games all day. Not even sorry.

I did some gardening, went for a swim in a lake, ate too much ice cream and started a new quilting project. I'm not very good in the heat so I was grateful for the swim in the lake to cool me down!

Well that is one of the joys of childfreedom- you can spend a whole day doing fuck all if you so desire!

Went for a 10k run early this morning before the heat kicked in, had a nice big breakfast & then read in the garden.

Just planning a holiday now, doing lots of research, with copious amount of iced tea!

When DH is back we're off to an outdoor theatre thingie, then meeting friends for a BBQ.

Sitting here in my shorts, scrolling. I'm not a fan of heat, so taking it easy.

Up early this morning to do weeding and de leafing tomatoes, and furtling for potatoes for lunch...and now sitting watching what the fuck has happened in Nottingham.

I’ve just discovered this board, hello! I’m currently soaking up the last little sliver of sunshine in our garden- it disappears behind a tree at about 5 and then reappears at 7 for an hour- very nicely timed for after dinner. When it’s gone for good I shall be taking up residence on the sofa. Didn’t get a great night’s sleep last night, as it was hot, and the cat woke me up several times to let me know her food was missing (because she had a general anaesthetic at the vet today so no food beforehand).

Hi @LoobyDop your sun hiding behind a tree reminds me of my childhood when the sun would go behind a gas tower and my Ddad told me it was warming the gas up .
I hope your cat is ok

I wouldn't count on that - it's been 26/27 here this week 😂

Yay - just had email to say my energy prices are going down! Right in the middle of a heatwave, naturally 😂

Highly recommended Madrid to all! Really cool place, great vibe, food, cheap cava... Although 35° today.so not the best walking about weather.

A lot of people having a late afternoon siesta round the pool (we're in quite a business-y hotel on the outskirts of town) and a screaming kid is waking everyone up (except DH who is peacefully snoring in my ear).
