Just tried to order one and water arrived. That the opposite!

Blanketenvy · 16/06/2023 20:06

I worked this morning. Napped this afternoon then popped to the pharmacy and the shop. Just had a nice couple of hours with DP sat in the garden with a friend chatting and having a couple of drinks. DP is currently cooking a (quick) dinner as too hot for too much faff, then we'll watch a bit of our (very guilty!) pleasure love island and I'll head to bed. I struggle to stay up past 9 due to chronic health stuff which I find very frustrating particularly in the summer, but today has been a better day so am grateful for that! Hope everyone is having a relaxing eve

Off to Oxford in a couple of hours to see the Knossos exhibition at the Ashmolean. Really looking forward to that - I visited Knossos for the first time years ago and need to plan a return visit.

musixa · 17/06/2023 07:57

That sounds good, MrsDanvers - ages since I have been to the Ashmolean. A somewhat less interesting morning for me as I'm off to the opticians, but hoping we can go somewhere after that although we are forecast rain before the day is out.

Hello fellow childfree women

Loved the Ashmolean when I visited years ago.

Today I had a stressful morning taking my elderly mum to the shops. We sat down on a bench and a few people walked by with toddlers and mum was looking at them sentimentally, while I was thinking "thank goodness for being childfree".

Then I got home and had a nap. Later, I'm due a long phone chat with someone. I have boring house chores to do tomorrow but then have some time to just relax and "be".

I’ve binge watched all of black mirror, now I’m going to go to the beach and walk as far as I can to make up for sitting down for as long as I can 😂

EmmaEmerald · 17/06/2023 14:21

Ooh, a beach walk sounds fab.

I am re-watching Desperate Housewives, man, that was a classic.

I love desperate housewives! Watch devious maids when you’ve finished if you haven’t already, it’s like desperate housewives but maids rather than housewives.

Ohwowza · 17/06/2023 14:35

Up at 6am for a 12k run, cleaned the chicken coop, then cleaned the house with the loudest dance music on (don't worry, no neighbours) feeling very happy to be alive.

Then needed to pop to the shops because DH has eaten all the ice cream, happy feeling soon disappeared in the throng of noisy, stressed people...

Back home now, need to sand the skirting in the office as decorating. Actually, I'm decorating the whole house so there's much more than that that needs doing!

DH works weekends so once he's home I'll make dinner (naan bread pizza, my fave).

Is it too early for a gin? While in the shops I bought a lemon gin I haven't tried before. Anyone want to join me?

JorisBonson · 17/06/2023 14:44

We're round the pool again today, it rained for a bit but we stayed put because we are British 😂

musixa · 17/06/2023 16:23

We went to a nearby town for a charity shop tour. Got rained on - wearing my brand new prescription sunglasses I'd collected this morning😂But we had a nice pub lunch - chilli jackets - and I came home with a bag full of books and a couple of Next summer dresses, so counting the day a success.

I tend to nod off if I drink in the afternoon but I'll probably have something tonight.

Hi all,

Hope you're all well and lovely to hear about all your plans. I'm having a day of housework today as haven't been able to do much through the week with it being so hot! Starting to pack a few bits later as off to Belfast with the hubby on Tuesday, never been before so looking forward to it. Anyone been before that has any recommendations?

musixa · 17/06/2023 16:37

I have never been to Belfast, but I've always wanted to see the harbour and do the mural tour.

OP posts:
Anxietysucks87 · 17/06/2023 16:39

Yeah we are thinking of doing a black taxi tour of the murals.

Morning all, back home after a weekend away for a family party. I am lucky enough to have retired early (a major advantage of being child free - more money to save), so no work today, sorry for any of you with the Monday blues.

A few bits of cleaning, tidying and putting away to be done today to get the house back to feeling ‘under control’. Monday is my admin day so I will get the laptop out, check my lists, chase tradespeople who said they would turn up/respond and haven’t (ongoing old house maintenance saga).

Friday night, I'm in bed feeling very pleased that Miss Megacolon Cat has done a poo, that I've figured out how many decreases I'll need to get the neckline of the jumper I'm making the size I want, and that I may even finish it before my knitting group next week.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 30/06/2023 13:02

Usual Friday stuff, cleaning, laundry. Sky Arts is repeating the Literary Road Trip about Pope and Swift this afternoon, so will watch that while ironing. I haven't read any of those two writers since university, so I think a catch up is in order.

Plus - it's my birthday on Sunday! Nothing planned, just a nice quiet day and a day off in the week to see an exhibition. I live the most exciting life.

Girlfrom15YearsAgo · 30/06/2023 13:11

Lovely thread! Happy Birthday MrsDanvers

Right now, I'm at work. It's been a ridiculously busy week and next week looks worse so I'm making the most of a couple of hours between meetings and not feeling guilty for being on MN when most of my evenings have been lost to work this week. Staring out of the window and knowing I should go outside for a walk before another round of meetings kicks off at 2pm but it's pissing it down...

Hopefully will get home at a reasonable hour and DH and I are going to try to see the new Indiana Jones film, if so. He's working all weekend and I fancy a really quiet one - a bit of walking, a lot of tv and reading... Still got loads of Glastonbury performances to catch-up on from last weekend and I've also just downloaded Marple (short stories based on Miss M by modern writers) and want to get stuck into that. Normally I love being out and about and tend to view and weekend on the sofa as a weekend wasted but from time to time, I just feel the need to have one like this.

Happy birthday for Sunday! It was mine on Wednesday. A quiet day is a good way to spend it!

Very stressful week at work - look forward to letting loose at a gig tonight, then spend the weekend doing some DIY -and yes, hopefully some long baths and never ending breakfasts too :)

Remember when you were a kid and you looked forward to your birthday for weeks? the cards and the cake and stuff? I remembered it yesterday and thought, 'What shall I do? nothing. Yeah, nothing sounds good.' 😅

Oh yes, and the day before - when I was at my knitting group and someone gave me a card - I'd quite forgotten it was coming up! 😆

I’ve had a fairly killer couple of weeks at work, but I’m now winding down and I’m off next week. Just one meeting to go. My husband and I nearly always go for a couple of drinks in our local after work on Fridays, just to draw a line under the week. I’m visiting my brother over the weekend, and then the plan next week is to go for a couple of nice dinners, maybe a couple of days out, get some domestic jobs done and generally chill out. Sadly by the look of the forecast, not in the garden, but never mind. We’re going away in August, this is just a little extra break from work.

Catsmere · 30/06/2023 14:00

Update - Miss Megacolon has worn herself out chasing her tail and is now making sure I don't go anywhere by lying on my feet.
