' DS was disappointed that no one was able to watch his rugby match today. He said what is the point of having parents if they never come to see me '

ouch!!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/10/2009 19:05

maybe you can send them the ironing bill?

lemonpuff · 22/10/2009 19:20

Hi

Does the nanny need to drive? or would ironing fees cover the odd cab?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/10/2009 19:46

needs to drive

20miles each way to school - so 80ish a day - 400 a week

think thats correct

MatNanPlus · 22/10/2009 20:12

Blimey, i really think you need to email and phone the agency and i would take the ironing bill out of the temp nanny's final weeks salary.

It is appaling behaviour on her part.

Today while caring for a 4½ week old baby who wasn't due to arrive until NOV 5 i have got up twice to do night feeds, done 2 steriliser loads, done 2 small loads of her washing then dried and put them away, wmptied the nursery and kitchen bins, helped mummy take her out for the 1st time in the pram navigating stairs and lifts (1st time mum) since she came home friday, helped mummy rearrange the nursery furniture and we shared bathtime, am currently minding her as the grandparents have taken the parents out for supper.

So as far as i can figure your nanny has possible got the dc up, supervised dressing, done breakfast, ensured teeth cleaned and driven the dc to school in total silence then driven back to the house then done sweet FA until it was time to drive to school to collect the dc and given them a poor standard of meal and then what!?

Now granted as a Maternity Nanny i earn a bit more (ok 50%) more this week than she does but i don't work/get paid for 52 weeks a year, babies being unpredictable in arriving, but i for sure know who actually earns their wage at the end of the week, oh yes and i do 24hrs a day for 6 days for that additional 50% which is then taxed!

The French don't tend to do nannies when they're at 5* hotels. They either bring them with or palm the kids off to 'animators'! I will definitely be investigating tough!

If we were in Mauritius, on the other hand...

I might know someone, actually, TOMP - what's your person spec?

mananny · 22/10/2009 20:37

OMG I would have thought as a temp she would be used to hitting the ground running and getting what needed to be done, done!!! But no. She's a lazy, lazy mare with a serious attitude problem and delusions of grandeur if she thinks she is somehow "above" doing even the most normal and basic nanny duties!!!!! I would be furious and refuse to pay her on the basis she has not performed as per the contract (please tell me you have a contract???)... You sound like a fabulous employer, I hope you find someone who likes your children (loves them even) and will help run your house smoothly rather than cause you to have multiple strokes like this one seems to be!!!! Thank God she is gone tomorrow.

AtheneNoctua · 23/10/2009 08:53

So MP, are you going to celebrate tonight after she leaves? What time should we all sign in to to pass our vitual slaps over to your (x) nanny?

theoriginalmummypoppins · 23/10/2009 09:45

Hmmm tidy...possibly not then! She's lovely but I wouldn't put tidiness high up her list of strengths.

Good luck with the search though!

BoffMonster · 23/10/2009 14:11

OMG I was going to use Eden!
Although to be fair agencies can't always predict when a nanny is going to lose the plot.

It actually reads like a nanny housekeeper job, you know.

theoriginalmummypoppins · 23/10/2009 14:39

BM. She did come to us through Eden.

It is a nannyhousekeeper job and I think she is maybe not suited to that role. But she did have the job description at the interview and knew what was expected of her when she came.

Its all very sad and I hope she finds something soon to go to. The children werent massively unhappy with her it just wasnt going to work long term.

And I cant pay a nanny all day and an ironing lady as well. In fact some nanny jobs I have seen advertised require the nanny to do the cleaning as well which I would never expect.

Ho hum. You live and learn. And do you know what if she does claim for the cost of the ironing service I will probably reimburse her for it because I am soft and wouldnt want anyone
