IMHO some people have gone batty

Some of the mad ideas I have read on here in last couple of days

Bonkerz the lot of them

How they treat their nannies or au pairs

They work long hours for not much pay.

There are some very fair parents who are working hard AND treat their au pair with

RESPECT

KINDNESS

But others

who spend all their time finding something to moan about.........

Why can they not treat them the same way they would like their DD to be treated if she wanted to become an au pair?

Would they want their DD to work in same circumstances?

LOOKING AFTER CHILDREN IS THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB IN THE WORLD

THEY ARE OUR FUTURE

It is also the best job in the world and the most fun,

seeing their faces when they have completed a jigsaw puzzle

learnt how to build a tower with 3 bricks

Please remember to treat others as you would like to be treated

.......

get a grip

you dont show someone respect just because of the job they are in! i dont care what others do for a living - i would respect someone for their job if i knew they were good at it - not just childcare providers but all manner of jobs

more to the point, i respect someone for the person they are, not what they do for a living

also, how can you respect someone for being a parent FFS!!!!!!!?????????????????

unless they are an excellent parent, but if you dont know that, wheres your point exactly????

are you fishing for compliments ??????

tamum · 22/04/2005 11:21

I agree with aimsmum and nailpolish, I'm afraid.

(and coddy, but don't tell her)

RTK I am so glad I wasn't on MN yesterday otherwise I would have been absolutely FUMING at the personal attcks on this thread. You say that it is not directed at anyone in particular, but it blatently is. By actually quoting figures and individual cases you make it so.

Do you think that parents who have nannies/cm/childcare in any form think that their children are NOT the most important thing. I have never seen on any thread the feeling that people see their children as anything less than a priority in their lives. That is why they are trying to find good AFFORDABLE childcare.

You say that people have 'boasted' on MN that they are paying low wages and 'getting away' with it. I have never seeen this. What I see is people trying to 'balance the books' so to speak. I used to have a nanny and her gross pay was about £225 a week (low as far as nannies go) However when looked at as a proportion of household NET income (as we have to pay our tax before we pay her) it works out at over 30% of household income. Does that mean I am a 'better' person than someone else as I am paying a higher proportion of my wages on childcare? It seems to me that YOU are the one who thinks that the ammount we pay for our childcare quates to how much our children mean to us

Now that is where I would do a mix of sad and ANGRY faces as it it blatently IS NOT TRUE.

As a parent we try to do our best, I realise that the agenda for you here is actually to suggest none of us should work unless we can pay a lot for high quality childcare. And that deep down IMHO you have a problem with mums who work away from the home and who need full time childcare. You are a strong advocate for the SAHM and I salute you for this. What I don't appreciate is the NASTY personal attacks here.

Sorry this is so long, but I have said my piece and I am now going to duck out

RTKangaMummy · 22/04/2005 11:27

I am not saying anyone is disrespecting anybody else

You can moan about whoever you like, If you want.

I just feel that if we show by example to our children how we should behave and talk to the ones who care and teach them. And to the ones they love.

It will make for a better world.

OK OK OK No one has to get angry

I am not in favour of SAHM over working mums

That is NOT the point neither is money

I just want people to realise that

WHAT HAPPENS TO CHILDREN AFFECTS THEM LATER IN LIFE.

This is beginning to remind me of that tedious Sting song ... some woffle about teh Russians loving their children too ... in other words RTKM why have you spent all this time telling us what we already know? Can there be anyone on mumsnet who denies that what happens to children affects them in later life?

Off now to start a thread on the sky being blue and the grass being green...

Ameriscot2005 · 22/04/2005 11:37

I certainly hope you behave much better among your charges than you have done on this thread, Kanga.

I hope you are not rude to them in the way that you have been rude here with your overuse of smilies or nonsense about lemonade in response to serious and considered postings.

I hope you demonstrate a much broader and complex view of the world rather than your simplistic and narrow views expressed here.

I hope you don't criticise people (ie show no respect) in front of your charges, the way you have done here with your veiled personal attacks.

RTKangaMummy · 22/04/2005 11:37

I never asked anybody to come on here to comment on my opinion

If people think my opinion is a load of rubbish

That is their opinion isn't it

So all mumsnet members are equal aren't they, and all allowed an opinion

I JUST WANT PEOPLE TO THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN

please

Oh, FFS, RTKM, we wouldn't be on Mumsnet if we didn't think about our children.

I have never fancied blond blokes myself. he looks a bit like Conrad Gates on Footballers' Wives, who is vile (imho).
