I’ve done it over the phone now and I asked for statements of reason also. Now 7 weeks wait extra and we all know that’s bull aswel 😡🤬

I am thinking of doing the same. I think my child deserves HRC due to night time needs. How did you do it on the phone. What did they ask? How did you find it?

can I just ask was the 5/2 when they received your forms? And if so when did you post them? I’m similar dates to you, posted my forms 3rd feb and as yet have heard nothing. I’ll be chilled once I know they’ve received the forms as I know it’s taking ages to process claims but until then I’m a nervous wreck, spent so many hours filling that form in and keep thinking what if it’s not got to them.
then also wondering when will be an appropriate date to call and ask if they’ve been received.

I asked to do it over the phone and then. They write up what you say and then send it off to a dm for MR and it takes 7 weeks he said

Thank you. Do you think
they will ask for extra evidence of night care needs?

They didn’t ask but you can always send in more evidence for sure

Just wondering if Nobody can help me ... I know it's not really on the basis of my son's claims but... Maybe someone can offer some knowledge because I'm worried sick!!!

My son's have both recently had their awards passed and are now on dla.. I'm thrilled to say the least!
I've now got to migrate across to UC from tax credits as my deadline is next week!
Long story short.. I'm so afraid that it will mean I lose my tax credits that I've literally only just got because of my son's! I have zero idea how it all works 😢😢😢🥺🥺🥺
Is that right? Will i lose or get considerably less tax credits once moved across?
Sorry for the out of place post I've just been apart of this group for ages because of my lads.. I feel confused, anxious and lost with it all..
🥺😔 Xx

@TamGirl89 hi my sister has recently moved from tax credits to uc and she is much better off her and her partner works and was told she wasnt allowed any help with housing and had most of her tax credits cut because of income now she’s on uc turns out she gets help with housing and full amount for children if you go on entitled to and put your information in there it will show what your entitled to and put your mind at ease x

That's unbelievable! Your comment has given me a little hope 🥺 I really will try and see how it may look on the calculator, I can only dream ill be in a position like your sister!
Thank you so much! 💕 Xxx

I applied on 11/12/23. I had an acknowledgment letter on 12/1/24 to say that had received my forms on 28/12/23. The second letter dated 9/2/24 said we are still making a decision it may take up to 15 weeks. If that helps anyone looking for an idea of a timescale.

bonz2023 · 24/02/2024 08:54

Wonder if anyone hears today...I won't but someone might 😂😂😂

Hey there if you see this message I hope it is some use to you.

I receive UC however I found the entitled to website unhelpful the figures didn’t match up.

From my own experience I can tell you that the amount I can claim is £953.72 as a single parent for myself as I’m over 25, and 2 daughters born in 2016 and 2020.

I have a mortgage so I don’t get help with the housing element. I can earn £631 before any deductions. The deductions are that you can keep 55p of every £1 over the amount of £631 in my case.

I work 22.5 hours my wages are £1,058 per month.

The way UC calculate the amount I actually receive is £1,058 - £631 = £427 x £0.55 = £234.85

£234.85 - £953.72 = £718.87 is my monthly UC pay.

I am currently on long term sick as I am waiting for a major operation I am fortunate that my employer will pay 6 months full and then 6 months half pay so in my meantime I have applied for LCWRA that is limited capacity for work and work related activities. If I am eligible I will receive a top up of £390.06 per month.

For the children I am awaiting a decision for my youngest and should she be awarded MRC then UC will pay what’s called the ‘disabled child element’ of £146.31 per month. If you receive the HRC then it would be £456.89.

Finally the ‘carers element’ of UC (NOT carers allowance which is a separate benefit) pays an additional £185.86 per month providing you receive the MRC or HRC on DLA. In my case I would be unable to claim this as well as LCWRA (would get higher amount).

Factoring in the above hopefully it will give you some indication of the amount you will receive.

Cookieam · 24/02/2024 10:08

If you've been given a migration letter rather than move to UC yourself , they will make up the short fall if your UC doesn't meet your tax credits award .
I've looked into UC and she said wait for migration is almost a promise that you won't lose out , claiming it without your migration that promise doesn't apply .
I've already received a letter saying we will being moved over but not a date as yet .

Mumof5asd · 24/02/2024 10:26

@Cookieam I spoke to a lady from citenz advice who said you'd get same amount for a year . I haven't received migration letter yet . Just hoping to DLA sorted ect before I have to move over .

That's incredibly insightful and honestly really helpful to have it all broken down like that! I have absolutely no idea what so ever when it comes to benefits at all!
Thank you greatly for the in-depth breakdown, really appreciated 👍🏻 xx

Parking. Post the forms 1/11 not sure what my scan date is! Already had 2 letters. Had a text on Thursday saying they are still looking at my DLA1 claim. I’m hoping this means it’s with a decision maker.
