I see thread 12 is full. Is there a Part 13 already, or shall we make this it?

18/5 and I m trying to hold off till Friday to call again, before I find it hard to resist putting a complaint in.

Need DLA to get 1:1 funding at DSs nursery and apply for UC carers element or carers allowance so I don't get sanctioned when he turns 3 for not working the appropriate amount of hours. It just doesn't feel right that I could get punished when they keep moving the goal posts for something I sent the forms off 5 months ago now.

Didn’t realise dla made it possible to get a 1:1 at nursery. I know when I filled out the forms for my boys 30 hours it asked if I was in receipt of DLA so I googled it and it said they give extra money to nurseries to fund items needed for the child. Is this what a 1:1 would pay for? I actually have a meeting this afternoon with nursery and portage worker so I will bring it up x

I don't know much about SEN at nursery but are you sure they are not just fobbing you off re DLA securing a 1:1? EHCPs, and pre-EHCP bridging funding to provide the support, are not dependent on DLA but on need.

At a school they should be building evidence of need to help secure the funding, but that is completely separate to DLA. I have a child with EHCP at a special school with full time one to one, and no one has ever asked for evidence of DLA. Maybe nursery is genuinely different, but I just wonder if they are waiting on the DLA thinking that is the "evidence of need" required, when it may not be necessary. Sorry if I'm way off, I really don't know about nurseries but I have heard so many illegal excuses for why they can't provide more help.

Our LAs inclusion fund is more likely to grant them the funding pot to help to go towards 1:1 if you get DLA apparently ( I ve seen the forms myself so I believe the nursery sencos got their info right) , so although I know they ll at least try if he turns 3 and still no DLA response I don't know for sure.

He only started nursery 2 sessions in June so they haven't got tonnes of evidence from them yet for an ECHP and unfortunately I ve no more money for private evidence till DLA.

NHS waits for us for paeds and salt keep going up so he's been waiting to be seen by them since last October.

Its interesting how portage is different in each area, we have home visits for a half term here and one nursery visit but then it switches to an inclusion teacher which is very confusing.

Hope your portage worker can get to the bottom of how it works in your area.

Oh really, we were referred in January by nursery and had our first meeting with them in April. My son has had one more observation since and today there’s an observation and meeting. Not sure how long it goes on for but she said last time about discussing an EHCP at this meeting for when he starts school next year or to defer him a year.
thank you , hope everything is ok with you x

zoeybrooks45 · 12/09/2023 16:12

My experience with current nursery DS has been attending since a baby, secure a SEN plan or ISP which outlines child support requirements and 1:1. This is aside from the extra funding which is only around 800£ which won’t fully cover a salary of 1:1, this is for nursery to use on resources. Nurseries are not very well informed around these things cause child is still young and will require a lot support essentially. I am in the process of starting ECHP process, fingers crossed x

I agree. Fingers crossed for you. At our last meeting in April the Senco said she would organise private funding for SLT. It hasn’t happened. Bit annoying when she could have just asked about it first before she told me. That’s what I’m counting on the DLA for. But feel that they should really provide it if they have for others in the past x

UPDATE scan date 10/5 i called up this afternoon, and they have confirmed I've been awarded LRM, MRC. I'm so relieved. i didn't even know my son was eligible for any support he went through all his schooling years with hardly any support, he just turned 16 so will have to go through this process again with PIP before his 17th bday. good luck to everyone waiting to hear back xx

Does anybody have any idea on how long it takes the letter to come through to say that they have received your claim? I posted it 3 weeks ago and I've heard nothing. I tried to call today, but I was on hold for nearly an hour and then got cut off! You all seem much further down the line and these wait times are scary! I just want to make sure that they actually have the claim forms.

TaraRobinson123 · 12/09/2023 17:10

Hi congratulations on awards! scan date 17/5 phoned this afternoon its with a decision maker🤞

Bethm439 · 12/09/2023 18:22

Same scan date and mines also with decision maker since yesterday, any idea of how long it with DM for ?

PurplePuxie · 12/09/2023 18:29

I rang them about this today - posted 9/08 and not received an acknowledgment yet. They said I will get that in c.10 days. But very pleased to hear they do have the application.

flowerpower48 · 12/09/2023 18:32

Hi, my scan date 16th May, payment went in today £1615 just awaiting the award letter but looking at the amount I think my son was awarded MRC and LRM, such a relief hope you all hear soon x

Hello everyone, this is my first post but I've been following for quite a while, kind of thought mumsnet was exclusively for women but in fairness I found out that wasn't the case.

Too my question, i applied over the phone on the 03/04 and my sons scan date was the 15/05 i havent received any text or letter yet but today I recieved back pay of £2868.90, but for the life or me I can't seem to work out what rates have been awarded, nothing quite fits I was wondering if anyone else could make light of it and its just my tired brain.

Thanks in advance

I don’t know the rates but just wanted to say congratulations, you must be so relieved 🥰

LeicesterDadOfThree · 13/09/2023 08:39

@Mumtotwoboys121 oh for sure! Especially because my son only attends school for 1.5 hours a day and then i have universal credit asking me to look for work but with no means of childcare for him and my other 2 children its impossible, but to be fair since I sent a letter from his school and from his paediatrician they have backed off a lot and said they will wait for a decision of dla to come through, so yes a very big relief thankyou 😊

Did you apply for care and mobility? No maths seems to fit perfectly so I don't know if they can pay part a week but that seems like high rate care and low rate mobility for 22 weeks roughly

Goodthingswillcome · 13/09/2023 09:16

It looks like HRC and LRM ,hope that helps

LeicesterDadOfThree · 13/09/2023 09:21

@Mumtotwoboys121 yeah thats what i found aswell nothing fit perfectly i just had a thought though that my back pay is backdated to april 3rd of this year so the start might have been in last years rates before the rates were increased this year? But I still cant make it exactly, it does look like HRC and LRM though which is fantastic, im going to give them a call just for peace of mind though
