@megan345 i feel like my son may not get anything either. He’s 11 and only from September been noticed as having traits of autism and adhd, and that was only because his school rang me about his younger sister and I asked about how he was at primary school and only then did they proceed to tell me they don’t understand why they didn’t refer him for an assessment. He was overlooked as he is what they called “high funtctioning”. He’s awaiting camhs. I only sent off the referral from the gp, the report from his primary school and 3 page letter I wrote myself I arnt holding out any hope for him tbh but I will be appealing if he is declined as he needs that extra support x

Alex900 · 13/04/2023 09:49

@lodol I’m keeping fingers crossed for you. I’m debating ringing today I only rang two days ago but the wait is killing me x

Autismum4 · 13/04/2023 09:51

@megan345 how old is your child your claiming for please? My little one is almost 2, needs are extreme though and got evidence sent in to support it, lucky for me he is the same out and about like he is at home and she saw for herself his poor stimming and lack of milestones met x

megan345 · 13/04/2023 09:57

@Autismum4 my boy is 1 tomorrow! he's got 5q14.3 microdeletion syndrome, so a part if his chromosome missing. this causes epilepsy, low muscle tone etc and we've been told to prepare that he may never walk or talk. He currently cannot support his head, needs help with playing and still 90% breastfed due to delayed weaning but obviously i feel that because of him being a baby that it will go against me x

obviously as well he needs meds for epilepsy, he's unable to sit, stand, crawl yet either x

Autismum4 · 13/04/2023 10:01

A child at risk of epilepsy at any age will be awarded I believe, you can claim as soon as they are 3 months old for the care component.
My son suffers with seizures and he's almost 2. My son at 8m had stiff muscle tone but it was because he is delayed and he will take longer reaching all milestones.
We need to check for deafness to rule that out he got referred a few weeks ago for that x

My forms still with a case manager so fingers crossed early next week I should hear something

Jay53 · 13/04/2023 11:18

I gave them a call yesterday. My scan date is 19th Jan. I was told 15-16 week wait at the minute so to expect a decision within the next 2-4 weeks. Wasn't the most helpful.

Mum2two7 · 13/04/2023 11:21

We're all getting told different things
Scan date 20/1 .. 12 weeks waiting
Told yesterday Should be with dm within the next week. Its confusing as there's also others with scan dates around same time an there's is with dm 🤷‍♀️

VixT1988 · 13/04/2023 11:39

Hi, just posting to keep updated on times. I’ve had to ring them up as we received no confirmation they had received my sons DLA form and it was sent 4 weeks ago! Anyway they have received it on the 23/3 and I’ve been told it’s a 15 week wait for a decision.

Jay53 · 13/04/2023 11:45

I guess the time frame will be different for different areas. Just a waiting game.

Downtown123 · 13/04/2023 11:54

Scan date 11/01 and got a back payment today. Need to wait for letter as what rate as very confusing.

Lodol · 13/04/2023 12:04

Just phoned them as 12 weeks today and it is with a DM, advised I will know a decision within the next week and I may receive a text but will receive a letter in the post with a decision. The lady was really nice and said that there working through things quicker

Hello everyone I am just after some help!
And everyone seems so lovely in the comments so thought I'd ask here.
I had a renewal for my son which was received on the 21.12.2022... he was finally awarded on the 6.4.2023 for high rate care and low rate mobility, befor his renewal he was just getting mid rate care. I had to update my UC with the outcome and was informed he can now receive the highest disability element, all has been verified by them and iv requested a back dated payment for this from the 21.12.22.. my question is it was sent to a decision maker on Tuesday and I'm just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes them to review the request and get back to you with there decision? Last time I applied when he was first awarded I had a quick decision within 48hours a backdated payment the day after the decision was made, is there a delay on this at the moment and longer wait times?
Thankyou to anyone who can give some help ♥️

Mummyof1sonxx · 13/04/2023 13:19

Congratulations for your son ❤️
The times are varying, some people’s are done within a week, others are taking a couple of months.

Daisymum18 · 13/04/2023 13:24

Surly that can't be the case I was told only yesterday 13 weeks before it gets looked at 25 weeks is ridiculous I don't think the customer service team are any more in the know than we are they can only say what they predict as no time scale for each customer is given if you called tomorrow you'd probably be told 12-14 weeks

Mummyof1sonxx · 13/04/2023 13:32

@megan345 I live in England suffolk x

Mummyof1sonxx · 13/04/2023 13:34

@Daisymum18 yes thanks you have made me feel better. I'm sure you can all relate we're all anxious and that made me feel terrible that work out to like July!! So stressful isn't it x

Roly199583 · 13/04/2023 13:51

@WouldJudasLeaveIt thankyou I'm very pleased with the outcome, I didn't expect expect high rate care I was expecting it to stay the same as he's still not been formally diagnosed! We're awaiting an autism assessment, all I send was my own heart felt message about him, a school report and a speech and language report. Regarding the UC back pay it's a pain they take so long.

Lodol · 13/04/2023 14:01

Did anyone receive a text message when their decision was made or did you have to ring/await the letter?

Mariekel · 13/04/2023 14:12

I had a back pay acouple of yrs ago for uc, I was suppose to be on lcwra I think it's call limited capability to work . I'd been in receipt of sick notes for over 2 yrs anyway when it was finally sorted they owed me just short of £11000 but before they paid out they send it over to dept recovery to make sure you don't owe them anything, for example if your paying a council tax dept or housing arrears they will take the full amount out of what they owe you they cant take for fines your paying or anything like that. They then give you what's left. That's why universal credit take a bit long.

ccx · 13/04/2023 14:15

Hiya, I was just wondering if anybody knew how long it takes to recieve the backdated payment after a decision has been made? Thanks

Hamsjm · 13/04/2023 14:19

Thanks everyone, information on here has been great help, finally got a decision, my daughter has got Mcr, she has very complex needs, felt she deserves Hcr, so called up, turns out the dm did not even read the part about her waking up 2-3 times a night, he noted she has no nighttime needs., so asked them look at it again, also how long does it take them to process new evidence I sent it in last week, if they again decide she has no nighttime needs, is there any other appeals process? Thanks for any help
