Hi,

I created a new thread as the old one is reaching its limit.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hospital letters for hearing loss and epileptic episodes
Health visitor evidence, my mum wrote a letter
I didn't get it because he's 4 and because of his age they don't see he's any different to any other child his age in regards to walking etc. Because he can walk over 200m.. they told me to try again when he's 5 as they will see it differently.

I'm going to go to mandatory reconsideration because he's on reception with children aged 5 it's just because he has an April birthday. He's also deaf and requires extra support in the classroom, has a teacher of the deaf and also has hospital appts.

He has had referral sent regarding autism but still dla don't see him different to others his own age

Fight it @sadiekt21 I’m sure you’ll get a positive outcome. I’m shocked they’ve turned you down I’ve seen people with far less evidence get awarded.

Nattynoodles · 09/11/2022 07:55

Hey guys, this is for anyone who needs to do a MR. After you receive the letter stating why they have declined you, correlate their arguement with your childs condition.Ask your doctor for a stamped headed letter listing your child's conditions, medications and how challenging their behaviour is and how it affects life on a day to day basis, refuses to leave the house for example. Make sure they put all your child's details on it. I did this and was successful and I know of a few others who did the same with positive results. Please let me know if you need any other guidance. Good Luck :)

I phoned a few minutes ago to find out what the current situation is.

I asked for my sons DLA claim to be looked at again due to a change in circumstances, scan date is July 28th. I was initially told the wait for a decision was around 11 weeks in that letter.

The woman I spoke to this morning said it isn't likely I will receive a decision until December, and they are currently dealing with claims for w/c June 13th HmmHmmHmmHmm

It's absolutely astonishing and disgraceful that they are so behind.

I rang (5/8 SD) with DM since Thursday/Friday no decision yet. Have asked for a text

Do u have a update yet x

parsniiips · 09/11/2022 09:21

She also assured me that no money will be lost as awarded claims will be backdated whenever they get to it.

But that doesn't help someone currently unable to work due to their child's disability and are on their arse living hand to mouth Grin

Lor39 · 09/11/2022 09:29

No I haven’t heard anything. Was told it went to a DM late Thursday/early Friday. When I rang yesterday they said no decision as yet. To be honest I’m losing hope now. I completed the form at a strange time as my son was leaving primary school and starting secondary school in September so was inbetween SEN. I put down his primary school contact not thinking it would take 3 months to be looked at. I’ve since supplied further assessments from his speech and language and autism diagnosis but nothing further. He was diagnosed March 2020 and we never claimed until now as we didn’t really need the money. However, with the cost of living crisis even LR would be helpful. He has private piano lessons which are expensive but he thrives doing them. He’s on grade 5 in 17 months! We are struggling to pay for them now and if he was awarded it would help cover most of the cost weekly. Losing hope though I have a feeling we will be declined.

Tbh this is how I'm feeling now my son was diagnosed this year with dsm-5 and I only sent his report in... I'm starting to think my son will also be refused just takes soo long 😕 are you going to call then again and wish you best off luck xx

Gemma96x · 09/11/2022 09:34

And yes the cost of living is really expensive now to even live week in week out. I applied for my son because my sin has extreme behaviour issues and tends to smash things up alot which I can't keep affording to replace x

Lor39 · 09/11/2022 09:39

Really hope you hear soon and good luck, hope you get your award. I think I’ll leave it until the end of the week now if I haven’t heard anything.
He doesn’t smash things up but he’s massively struggled with the transition, for example he lost his PE kit last week and he has a locker to use! It’s all got to be school logo, football boots, trainers, 3 PE tops, bottoms the list goes on. It’s £200 to replace it. Absolute nightmare.
We don’t claim any benefits so this is the first time I’ve been through this kind of process and it’s an eye opener into the system. Think I was told up to 8 weeks to start yet here we are 14 weeks this week and still no confirmation either way x

I dint no mine been with dm since Monday x worried about lack of evidence x

Lor39 · 09/11/2022 10:03

What evidence did you send in? X

barnsleylass86 · 09/11/2022 10:14

Hi all I rang again this morning and he definatley has been awarded . The technical glitch is about the back money. Apparently it hasnt been sent as sometimes the DM has checks on them to make sure they have done things properly and has now got to be signed off by a manager. Has anyone else experienced this ? They said to call back Friday as she was going to send an email to get it sorted

RunPamRun · 09/11/2022 10:40

@Shannon1995x I think it's like asking how long is a piece of string. I think it depends on the DM, their work rate, what mix of cases they have, how complex they are, how much evidence there is to go through, assess, verify etc. I've seen one comment where the decision was made same day as going to DM, others have apparently taken over a week. Our scan date is 8th August too. I expect most cases, unless complicated, reams of documents or borderline, are reviewed and decided within a few days. But then you've always got things like individual employee sickness, holidays, training etc that might throw a curveball into the mix. When I called Monday morning they said ours had gone to a DM too, but I don't know when. I would imagine we'll both hear before the end of the week (or at least a decision will be made by the end of the week 🤞🏻). x

Acappuchinoplease · 09/11/2022 10:48

I’ve just called up again. I was told last week it would be looked at this week - scanned 10/8 and now been told it could be another 2 weeks before it’s looked at. So stressful waiting and not knowing

Shellbel10 · 09/11/2022 11:39

That’s ridiculous I’m 16 august I thought it would be looked at late next week maybe early the following

georgiesmuma · 09/11/2022 11:53

I’m the 19th and they said call after 2 but more likely 4-6 weeks 😳

RunPamRun · 09/11/2022 12:16

So I've just called to see if it's worth adding to my son's record that we've heard from the triage panel and been accepted for an adhd assessment by the local authority (he already has a private diagnosis and medication) and a really lovely, helpful lady told me that he's been awarded today, MRC, LRM, for two years! I'm so happy! Fingers crossed for you all that you get your own good news soon! xx

sadiekt21 · 09/11/2022 12:31

I am going to do, how long did it take to get a mandatory reconsideration decision?
They seem to be blaming his behaviours on his age and haven't taken any notice of the evidence the health visitor has sent in x

Shellbel10 · 09/11/2022 12:43

How old is he

sarahxdx · 09/11/2022 13:02

How long after receiving the text confirming your child qualifies for Dla so people get their payment please x

MissEllie2 · 09/11/2022 13:26

@RunPamRun congratulations that must be a huge relief!!! Can I ask what your scan date was please, sorry if you’ve already been asked before 😊 x
