But if I am it's probably going to be very slow!

Having got to sleep at 12.30am (ish) last night I woke up at 2.30 and have been up ever since! I think I might have been woken up by a contraction.

Anyway, next one wasn't until 3.45am, then they came at half hourly intervals until about 7am, but haven't had any since... however I am feeling a great deal of pressure in my pelvic area.... here's hoping!

All fingers crossed for you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Miaou · 27/07/2005 07:45

Thanks Distel!

Anyone else have a very slow third labour?

THIS slow?

OP posts:
Distel · 27/07/2005 07:48

can't help you there I'm afraid. My 3rd labour was 2.5 hours from first contraction to Placenta coming out, DS was nearly born in the hospital car park.

When are you due? Could it have been Braxton Hicks?

bubblerock · 27/07/2005 08:03

Fingers crossed for you Miaou - how exciting!! No experience of 3rd labour but maybe you're better at recognising the signs this time. Keep us updated and I hope things speed up xxxx

rubles · 27/07/2005 08:50

I have heard talk about later labours (ie 3rd +) taking longer to get established because the mother is preoccupied and busy with other kiddies so she is therefore unable to get the space and time for herself to relax and let labour begin. There is a logic to that argument but it could just be hearsay.
I know my sister was stop/start for 7 days with her third whereas for the first two there was a definite beginning to both labours.
That's hardly scientific proof of anything though!

Miaou · 27/07/2005 12:52

Still here! Contractions stopped completely so I went back to bed and to sleep - had the best sleep I had in weeks! I'm hoping they start up again today whilst I feel so good. Rubles, I'm wondering if it is a start/stop job too. I'm fairly patient though - not due until Sunday.

Glad you had a good sleep - won't be long now! How exciting!

champs · 27/07/2005 15:13

oooo!! any twinges since?

Chandra · 27/07/2005 15:14

Oh, best of luck for the next hours Miaou

Miaou · 27/07/2005 15:17

no - just spoke to my midwife and she reckons they were probably just BH contractions. However when I said I was feeling loads more pressure than yesterday (when I was 3/5 engaged) she said I may not have that long to go. The dds are staying at my mums tonight just in case!

champs · 27/07/2005 15:45

was thinking a bit of ooo-errr might help....

Gobbledigook · 27/07/2005 17:11

Miaou - my 3rd labour was very slow to get going - I was niggling from Wednesday and had ds3 on Sunday morning. I was 4cm and contracting on the Friday morning 2 days before! Kind of went on and off and then on the Sunday morning woke up at 2am and they were really regular every 7 minutes and I knew that was it. He was born at 4.45am so quick once it actually got going!

Excited for you! Keep us posted!

Miaou · 27/07/2005 17:16

thanks GDG! I'm excited, but nervous that I won't "know" I'm in labour until I'm further on - given the length of journey to the hospital I'm slightly concerned about what stage I will be at when I arrive there! It seems like such a long time since I did this (6.5 years!) that I've forgotten what REAL contractions feel like

I guess I'm about to find out big time

champs · 27/07/2005 17:34

lol@pineapple cury. I remember eating a whole pack of pineapple untill my mouth was sore last time!!

Miaou · 27/07/2005 17:38

Good luck Miaou! Fingers crossed for an easy ride for you! xx

Miaou · 27/07/2005 20:37

contractions have started again, but still VERY far apart (30+ mins) - dh has gone for a shower so he is nice and fragrant just in case he has to spend a whole night in a hot labour room

Pineapple curry was lovely, btw!!

dejags · 27/07/2005 20:49

Good luck. You'll have a beautiful new baby soon.

Sigh...

morningpaper · 27/07/2005 21:08

Have a glass or two of wine and try to get some rest! (It's my new approach.... )

Miaou · 27/07/2005 21:21

Hello all, thanks for the good wishes! Well, I'm still here and the ferry has docked for the night, so if we need to go to hospital we will have to drive all the way round the loch (about an hour plus)...och well.

Lastest development - (and I'm really sorry about this - TMI an' all that) - I've just had to rush to the loo with diarrhoea. Both my previous labours started that way... hmm....

Honestly, I bet I'm getting all excited over nothing, I'll still be posting on this thread next week!

MeganSoph - I thought a hot bath would slow things down, not get them going?
