First time home birthers and their support squad

Not a homebirther personally but wanting to offer support to Boobz and others who are going for a home birth . . .

Boobz had really expected to find out you had had this baby by now. I am really feeling for you. I hope that you have managed to progress since your last update, I support what the others have been saying, just becos this first stage is taking forever doesn't necessarily mean the rest will. Also don't feel you are letting anyone down if you decide you need to go into the hospital - you do what you need to go. When you're baby is born you'll be over the moon and it won't matter about how or where. Sending more positive labour vibes your way.

omg i love it. mr & mrs boobz kicking ass and taking names. Hopefully the fact that Mr Boobz is posting means that Boobz is in the thick of it.

I am loving the updates. I have a real rush going at the moment. I think this must be what other people feel like when they watch sport. Oh no, I feel a horrible pun coming on. Something about rooting for the HOME team.

Wow Boobz....only just logged on to see how you are doing.....you are incredible and amazing for coping so long.....and well done to Mr Boobs for the invaluable support. I know I couldn't have done it without my DH through a similarly long latent phase. Not sure what the latest is but sending you all our love and suppport. You are an absolute trouper.....and I can't believe you have managed to keep up your thread!
Won't be long now until you can hold your gorgeous baby in your arms and honestly, it is true what they say, everything that has past before pales into insignificance. You are doing a brilliant job and whatever you decide to do with regards to pain relief, it doesn't matter a jot. The end result is all that is important. GO BOOBZ............you can do it!!!!!!

good luck gemzooks! Boobz hop the pressie is helping - P called me to say he'd dropped it with an almighty crash and was orried it would disturb you mid-stride!

Seconding Crazycatlady - call us if there's ANYTHING we can do...hope CMW from tommies is as lovely as the valley girls, I'm sure she will be and no doubt Juliet will be with you in the morning regardless

OK so dick here didn't realise that the cheerleaders had already got the second page set up. Well the update is that after a pretty fraught couple of hours we have established communications with the MW and she is now sat in the commune. Dog is safely ensconced in her crate and a kind of entinox inspired euphoria has overtaken everyone. My coffee is kicking in big time so I am in a rather blissed out state of seeing my amazing wife now coping much better. She is lucid calm and really much more in control. The contractions are coming regularly and she is 5cm dilated so we are in full labour halleluiah!! Thank you all for your messages of support they really have been invaluable. Apparently DW is caning the entinox and MW off to get another tank. So calm has descended of a kind and I will keep you updated. XX PS Toffee is awesome as are all mousey haired people.

go boobz! proper labour here we come (bloody healthcare professionals though, i'd flipping class the last 4 days as labour if i were you!)

so glad you've cracked open gas and air and coffee and toffee...i KNEW it'd be a mother's day baby!

Ok so if anyone is out there I need some advice. DW has now gone through two canisters and we only have only left which she is already on. What happens after this? Can the MW get more?

Mr Boobz - who was the senior midwife you spoke to at Tommies? We had an AWFUL experience with a senior midwife there who I believe changed the whole path of my labour with her actions and attitude. We've complained about her, don't want to post her name but if it's the same woman then god she needs a shot up the backside...

happy mothers day everyone. Boobz, so glad things are moving along. When is it time to get in to the pool?

Boobz and MrBoobz baby daughter arrived this morning at 6:30am AT HOME! Penelope Lucy Reed weighed in at 7lbs 8oz, and is beautiful. Will come back and tell you the whole story later on today but need to get some sleep for now.

Could not have done it without my amazing DH and everyone rooting for me on here. You all rock.

Our little group has been completed by Penelope, we can't wait to introduce her to the other babies....you desereve a massive glass of champers and a decent sleep!
