DS I apoligised to him for shouting .

DD I didn't want to hold as I felt sick and was a bit angry at her (I don't know why it was the drugs lol)

DD2 I felt the amazing rush everyone talks about it .

Just wondered about other peoples feelings .

Not remotely religious madmouse but I think that all the time too.

ChasingSquirrels · 24/07/2008 21:31

ds1 - "that's clean???" (mw had asked if I wanted him straight away or cleaned up a bit)
ds2 - "OMFG (then) I'm not looking to see what it is" (didn't want to give up the possibility of a girl).

Nappyzoneneedsanewname · 24/07/2008 21:37

dd (our first) omg i have no idea what to do with you
ds (2nd) overcome with emotion he was a boy (we were told at scan but i never beleived it) and wow the water is quite clean (water birth) - then i nearly dropped him when i got cramp in my calves!

Jomb · 24/07/2008 22:54

When I saw him I couldn't believe how beautiful and perfect he was and I wondered whether they'd passed over the wrong baby. Never known emotion like it - I was completely bowled over. The best thing ever.

MrsTicklemouse · 24/07/2008 23:13

DS1 "i dont like skin to skin" i had puked all over myself just before he came and he was covered in poo!! i handed to DH and was happy to have him back when we were both a bit cleaner!!!

DS2 "Have you seen the sive of his balls!" (they were huge) then "hes got normal feet" (me and DS1 have two webbed toes!) needless to say midwife thought i was mad!!

MrsTicklemouse · 24/07/2008 23:14

just read that again...DS1 his poo not mine!!!!

MrsBates · 25/07/2008 01:10

Just like I haven't stopped loving my parents because they are dead, I didn't start loving my children from birth. It was as though I'd loved them from the beginning of the world. I have had three fantastic labours though, so very chilled when I met them all. Lucky me eh?

becklespeckle · 25/07/2008 02:10

No rush of love for me, it was always there from the moment we planned their conception. Very much a "Hello, you're here" moment with all 3 DC. With DD I remember thinking that her cry was more high pitched than her brother's cries and when they gave her to me she was still screaming in protest from the paediatrics slapping her feet and massaging her to get her responsive - after a fearful pregnancy it was the sweetest sound in the world. I also couldn't believe she was a girl (convinced she would be my 3rd son).

eidsvold · 25/07/2008 03:03

dd1 - did not get to hold her until she was a few days old. THen I thought - omg how tiny you are. WHen I saw her in passing as she was taken off to icu - I thought - how cute - then OMG i'm a parent - i'm responsible for that little life.

dd2 and 3 - was amazed at how gorgeous they were - wanted to untuck them and see their little hands. ( was cuddling them whilst being stitched up.)

whispywhisp · 25/07/2008 07:19

DD1 = how the hell did you fit in there?

DD2 = that's it..no more for me!

missblythe · 25/07/2008 07:27

"I'm so glad you're a girl"

Follwed by:

"Thank fuck that's over."

And:

"What the fuck do we do now?"

A mixture of disbelief, shock and love but I was so off my face from the gas and air that they could have handed me a kitten.

weeonion · 25/07/2008 09:23

she's like a velvet frog!

candyfluff · 25/07/2008 12:52

Martha200 · 25/07/2008 15:13

ds1 - Wow and Can I sleep now?
The need to sleep came from a long labour ending in emergency section where I required assistance to sit for the epi as I was sooo tired, and that tired I thought I was going to die when they had a few problems, but I didn't care (never experienced tiredness like that before)ds1 was also very tired so he was silent for awhile then zonked out too for many hours.

ds2 - OMG, a minature ds1, talk about looking twin like, and then tons of tears as he came out crying (a planned section) and a urgent desire to hold and comfort wailing baby.

bergentulip · 25/07/2008 15:28

DS1 - Oh, it's out. Right, quick, DH, get the camera over there whilst they clean him. Ooh, I'm thirsty- please can I have an OJ.

DS2 - thought to myself "oh, right, you're not going to clean him first? Fair enough.... funny looking, isn't he?.....I need a shower!"

I am also not a 'big rush of love and hormones' kinda person..... I was very happy though, both times, and my boys are absolutely gorgeous little things...

StealthPolarBear · 25/07/2008 15:42

I'm exhausted, let me sleep
mingled with wow
and then 20 minutes later realised no-one had actually checked his sex (we had a scan at 34 weeks so fairly clear but still!) so lifted the towel to see
then a few minutes later was astounded to realise i hadn't yet seen his feet so had a look at those

imoscarsmum · 25/07/2008 15:44

MrsBates I am 8 months pregnant with my first and your comments have just made me cry - just fabulous.

Anglepoise · 25/07/2008 15:52

Donovan's comment about her DH made me cry so much that I couldn't even read it to my DH and then cry on and off for about the next hour (and I'm tearing up now). I am also eight months' PG

donovan · 25/07/2008 21:04

Anglepoise, I told my dh what you said, and he blushed.

2boys2 · 25/07/2008 21:42

ds1 - "oh my god its a ginger!".
and after holding him for a millisecond - "take it away".

I prefere to call it a strawberry blonde colour now and i love him 110%!!

ds2 - "he's dead, he's dead. I promised "ds1" a brother, i've let him down".

he wasnt dead - just shocked from a very speedy entrance into this world!! .

and on holding him i did experience the rush of love that i didnt have with ds1.

Anglepoise · 25/07/2008 22:51

It makes me want to cry every time I think about it! What a lovely man

monkeyme · 25/07/2008 23:06

"fucking hell! look at the size of his hands!!!

Botbot · 25/07/2008 23:40

'This hurts my neck'. Post-CS, being stitched up, dp holding dd next to my head. Craning my neck to look round at her hurt. So I had to stop looking, and I felt really guilty about it.
