DS I apoligised to him for shouting .

DD I didn't want to hold as I felt sick and was a bit angry at her (I don't know why it was the drugs lol)

DD2 I felt the amazing rush everyone talks about it .

Just wondered about other peoples feelings .

dd - I looked and said very sarcastically 'yeah great take her away now' as I promptly vomited
DS - I looked at dh and said to the MW - 'well lets be honest, he looks like a potato' (DH snorted beside me)
MW looked horrified.

PMSL @ mrsleroyjethrogibbs ...

If you ever have another can I be there?? I want to see what you say! lol

MKG · 23/07/2008 16:03

ds1 was--"So your the one giving me all that reflux"

ds2--I didn't hold for about an hour after the birth because I was in a state of shock and utter disbelief that I had just had a baby. But when I got him I said, "Hey you".

ChopsTheDuck · 23/07/2008 16:06

dd- she is beautiful
ds1 - very nice, now can I please get some sleep!
dts - omg there really is two of them. How the hell did you two fit in there?

Dropdeadfred · 23/07/2008 16:08

dd1 - 'gosh, she's so beautiful'
dd2 - 'she looks just like dd1'
dd3 - wow she's huge!!' (9lb 8)

KristinaM · 23/07/2008 16:09

DD1 - oh she's quite funny looking
DS1 - i cant hold him i'm about to faint
DS2 - oh good can i have something to eat now

can you tell i've never had that amazing rush....

Dottoressa · 23/07/2008 16:10

DS: (following hideous birth) "Thank God for that."

DD: "Is it really a girl?" (having had a boy, I was sure the scans had been wrong!!)

Countingthegreyhairs · 23/07/2008 16:16

to obstetrician (insistent tone) "there's another one in there" (there wasn't)

HonoriaGlossop · 23/07/2008 16:24

counting!

I can't remember the first time I held ds. I remember seeing him for the first time, when I came round from GA but was violently shaking so couldn't hold him. From then it's a blur, I remember snatches of time but don't remember the 'first' time of holding him etc

I think what I said when I first SAW him was "I can't stop shaking"

TurkeyLurkey · 23/07/2008 16:30

ME with DD1 - "it's a boy without a willy!"
Midwife - "that makes it a girl"
Cue strange looks to me from DH
ME, rather lamely "oh yes, I thought it was a deformed boy..."

In my defence I was convinced I was having a boy (convinced myself I'd seen summat on the scan....)...

Niecie · 23/07/2008 16:37

DS1 - 'Look at the size of his feet and his hands'! Followed by 'is he really mine'?

DS2 - 'Wow you were in a bit of a hurry'! He was delivered at home by an ambulance lady. Didn't make it to hospital.

Marvelled at the same time with both of them how gorgeous they both were.

HonoriaGlossop · 23/07/2008 16:38

just realised the op asked for first thoughts/emotions rather than what was said

first thoughts were 'I can't stop shaking' 'I'm alive, I didn't die!' first emotions on seeing ds - very intense interest in looking at him. Didn't feel happy, sad, loving - just intensely interested

gingerninja · 23/07/2008 16:46

I felt like I'd run a marathon and beaten everyone. I felt very proud of myself but slightly unsure what this wet object, slapped on me, had to do with it all.

justaphase · 23/07/2008 16:46

"Oh look, it's a baby"

Felt very detached.

lizziemun · 23/07/2008 16:47

DD1 WOW that wasn't as bad as i thought. My god she got a lot of hair.

DD2 is she ok, will she be ok. She had the cord around her neck and wasn't breathing. Had full crash team within seconds .

Sal22 · 23/07/2008 16:56

First thoughts were just of relief when I heard him cry, and then when they said he might need to go to intensive care, I kept thinking I'm not going to tell anyone he's born yet in case he dies. And then I just wanted my dh to go over to him (had a cs) - somehow thought that would keep him safer. Have never prayed that much in my life - three very long hours until they said all is fine.

waitingtobloom · 23/07/2008 19:37

Oh...my...god...its a baby.

Seriously hadnt twigged I was having a baby until then - of course I knew I was pregnant and then in labour...but a baby at the end of it? Why didnt anyone tell me that?!?!

Hoping this time around its a bit more idyllic lol

piratecat · 23/07/2008 19:40

eh ?

followed by

'oh my god aren't i supposed to feel a gush of love'

followed by
'oh i don't feel much'

followed by

'shit, its actaully here'

then five mins later

'crying now as it really is a baby and i do think i am going to love her.

finallypregnant · 23/07/2008 19:41

Shit

followed by

Hasn't he got soft skin!

motherinferior · 23/07/2008 19:42

DD1: wtf???

DD2: Ah, a boy!

(Gas and air, fabulous stuff...)

piratecat · 23/07/2008 19:42

i remember thinking, god this is like holidng a wet warm fat frog/fish!!!

domesticslattern · 23/07/2008 20:11

Just like piratecat. I just thought, oh a baby, god I am knackered, thank god that's over, what happens now?

I do love her now BTW!

copingvquietly · 23/07/2008 20:16

PavlovtheCat · 23/07/2008 20:20

Hello I love you.

You are beautiful.

Disbelief that she was finally here.

Proud of myself, moreso proud of her for getting herself out in one piece.

Pure unconditional, overwhelming love and joy.
