Oh Lulu- and MArs (have told Jo)- meant to say as MW didnt know and trying to get word out- if you ever get any clients with disabled kids and they get severe DLA credit on WTC, they automatically get sure start grant regardless of income.

I only found out from Fio, and it covers things like maybe a Doula if childcare an issue (as often is with disabled kids)

You're not hijacking anything ruty!
This is the MN version of 'The Farm' and Lulu and Mars take turns in playing Ina May

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 17:52

yep... you are still giving birth, still in need of preparation and talking things through before and after and can help with birth plan and with breastfeeding afterwards.

Peachy · 05/04/2008 17:52

Except if anyone hears me desribing dilation as a psychedelic experience or suggests I have sex with my DH during labour then I might get a bit on you........

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 17:53

fancy mentioning me and mars and ina may in the same sentence !

Peachy · 05/04/2008 17:53

that is good to know, peachy re the sure start thing

sex in early labour can really help!

ruty · 05/04/2008 17:56

LOL VS.

ruty · 05/04/2008 17:57

sex in early labour??? Pass the epidural!

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 18:04

shall i mention orgasmic childbirth or quit while i am ahead?

PuhPeng · 05/04/2008 18:06

I'm sure the advice to have sex to bring on labour is a big cosmic joke at our expense. I struggle to think of something I'd like t do less at this point in a pregnancy. Waterskiing perhaps?

Not my first no Lulumama. This is #2. (#1 was over 3 weeks late so I'm really trying hard not to count down this last couple of weeks).

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 18:09

definitely try not to focus on your due date too mcuh though!

thing is, sex gets the baby in , and can help get it out!

i took my own advice on this too !

bunnyrabbit · 05/04/2008 18:11

Hi all,
Due today so dropping in from April thread.

Midst the throws of labour with DS (4.5), DH waited until I was in the middle of a contraction, prone over the birthing ball, and said " I suppose sex is out of the question?".

Then bolted for the door. Absolutely no way I could catch the sod. Anyway, I was PMSL.

Now... who mentioned disabled kids? Doula UK also has a hardship fund that can be accessed and I know a wonderful doula who knows all about disability rights etc when it comes to birth.

Now... ladies... with absolutely NO pressure at all. Shall we count how many births I've been too since the original thread started? Or shall I leave you with hope?

Got one brewing for tonight but think I'll manage to slip my salsa in first. And of course I'll only be thinking birthing vibes for you all.

nappyaddict · 05/04/2008 18:34

you need to get cleaning windows, hoovering the whole house and weeding the garden!! if you've got a trampoline i'm sure a bounce on that might help things along, otherwise star jumps might be a good alternative oh and don't forget to do that whilst eating a nice thai meal at the same time!!

ButterflyBessie · 05/04/2008 18:44

Victoriansqualor

I am interested as to why you have a deadline for your VBA2C?

I have had two VBA2Cs, one of which I was 11 days overdue, second one I was 17 days over (ie 42+3).

I hope that you do go into labour soon though as after awhile it just gets rather dull

I really hope you get your VBA2C, they're grrreat

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 18:50

have not been at a birth for aages, but got some stuff in the pipeline that should get me going again

I'm a serial lurker and occasional poster on the April thread - 39+5 today. Never expected to get this far as last time DD surprised us all turning up at 37+1 so I kinda assumed this one would be early too.

Planned on having a homebirth like last time, but midwife came over yesterday to tell me I've tested positive for Group B Strep - so I've decided to go into hospital as soon as things kick off to enjoy four hours of intravenous anti-biotics. Figured it's not worth taking the chance not to have them now we know but feeling a bit sad about giving up my homebirth. Hey ho!

Peachy, VS, Scorpio et al, how did you first realise you were in labour? I know it sounds silly but waters went with DD and contractions then started straight away so it was pretty obvious. This time I've been having painful contractions on and off for several weeks, plus a hindwater leak a week ago - worried I won't know when it's for real!

scorpio1 · 05/04/2008 20:05

just strong, regular contractions that did not go away after a bath! Have luckily so far had good short labours.

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 20:07

had a client who;d had all her babies early, booked for HB, got very impatient when she was 39 weeks and no baby.

baby arrived very quickly on due date!

so scorpio, just chiiiilllllll

smooch with that lovely DH of yours and wait for millie !

fleecy have you looked at the www.homebirth.org.uksite re homebirht and GBS?

fryalot · 05/04/2008 20:08
