ooh, ruty !have you decided on mode of delivery ?

ruty · 05/04/2008 16:29

not quite Lulumama, but hedging still towards elective...

PuhPeng · 05/04/2008 16:44

I'll join in a waiting for babies thread. I'm not due for 11 days so willing other peoples' babies to arrive will distract me nicely.

VictorianSqualor · 05/04/2008 16:48

I'm not due for another 3 days but I have a deadline.
DP got fed up this morning and said we'll just no show at the hospital on wednesday so at east I know if the mw thinks my sweep will work that he's supportive of putting it off for a few days.

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 16:49

welcoem puhpeng, is this your first?

ruty, why , if you are not sure, talk it through with a mw , or friend or us !

whether you go for elective or VBAC, as long as you are making an informed choice that you are happy with, then that is the importnat thing x

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 16:52

is wednesday your c.s ?

VictorianSqualor · 05/04/2008 16:54

Yeah, I have mw coming monday about 3pm after her clinic to try a sweep and am meant to be at the hospital for 7:30 weds morning.

Pollyanna · 05/04/2008 16:58

Hello! i'm loathe to come onto this thread as I joined Angua's right at the beginning. but I'm still pg, at least 40+7 (on my most conservative of dates). Went to the mw on weds and I am not at all dilated, despite being 2cm at 35 weeks when I had contractions- I am reverse dilating

I have had contractions on and off since then
and am absolutely huge. It is my 5th and you would have thought it would be easier than this by now!

I am being induced on Thursday and really want to avoid that...

Peachy · 05/04/2008 17:03

welcome polyanna- this is my 4th and I am huge too.

VictorianSqualor · 05/04/2008 17:04

My third, I daren't go for anymore or I will explode next time I'm sure.

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 17:05

a lot can happen between now and wednesday

pollyanna, did you have an issue with placenta previa, or am i confusing you with someone else?

Pollyanna · 05/04/2008 17:08

yes i did lulumama - but it moved right at the last minute (I was still lined up for a cs at 34 weeks).

I think it is because I dramatically expanded - I have people stopping me in the street to comment on the roundness and size of my bump now

Peachy my 4th was a week late too...

VictorianSqualor · 05/04/2008 17:09

Heres hoping!

I've finally decided to put something formal in writing about my treatment with DS as well, when this one is sorted and I feel a bit stronger. I've had so much support from the cons and her team about the way I was dealt with last time being wrong and the nurses and anaethetist couldnt believe that DS was taken away from me and almost given a bottle even though I said no formula so I don't feel like such a moany cow anymore!

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 17:11

glad it moved, pollyanna...

definitely write that letter vs

Peachy · 05/04/2008 17:12

My scan adtes didnt agree with the dates I had with ds3, he could have been a week late or a day early tbh.

ds2 was a week early though, and ds1 induced early for eclampsia.

I know my bump is huge (pic on my profile is over a month ago now!- and as i have always said i've had a haircut since LOL), and I am feeling it especially as others were quite small- with ds1 could still do up my coat at term and largest baby i've ever ahd was 7lb 4oz, smallest 5 lb 5 oz.

Hey Peachy,

Philosphy? Just what you need for the baby to come!

ruty · 05/04/2008 17:12

my ds was taken away from me and he was given a bottle VS. Donated breast milk not formula but without my consent and consent is supposed to be granted. same hospital i think? Anyway hope you have a positive experience this time.

Lulumama, i'm just too afraid of having a VBAC, especially in the hospital where I am, just not enough support and don't think my body is up to it. Sorry to be so negative but last time was so traumatic i just want to get this over with as quickly as possible! [and then enjoy my new baby obviously]

jofeb04 · 05/04/2008 17:13

lol, x-posted

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 17:13

peachy ! you look just hjow imagined! all warm , and kind looking and lovely !

nice bump

Peachy · 05/04/2008 17:13

LOL Jo- except that the Lecturers partner was due a few days before me and if she's delivered (what with it being their first) I am likely to pelt him with sweets in fury and envy

ruty · 05/04/2008 17:14

just seen your photos Peachy and your lovely boys. My bump is ridiculously large, looks like a comedy fake one, and very low. Wonder if she'll come early...

jofeb04 · 05/04/2008 17:14

lmao, can't blame you really.

Eat those pineapples! (BTW, I've just emailed you).

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 17:14

don;t be sorry! any chance of having a doula to support you?

VictorianSqualor · 05/04/2008 17:15

ruty, I was at northampton general, it's (surprisingly considering some of the stories I've heard on here) the JR that are being so good this time round.

ruty · 05/04/2008 17:41

JR pre-natal care admittedly very good VS. It was just one bad/power freak midwife that let me down really. the rest were mostly lovely [though leaning towards medicalising my birth as much as possible IMO]
Lulumama is there any point in having a doula for an elective? Don't think i can psychologically face the alternative really. Sure my pessimism will be a self fulfilling technique. [Anyway sorry hijacking thread!]
