Hi,

I'm just curious how long you stayed in hospital for after having your first child? I'm due my first in less than 11 weeks and the realisation of giving birth and staying in hospital is starting to hit me a little bit Smile x

Emergency c-section 48hrs. I was desperate to get home.

ArtisanPopcorn · 30/03/2020 22:10

Less than 24 hours.

littleduckeggblue · 30/03/2020 22:12

6 nights in total, 3 before csection and 3 after

Menopauseandteensdontmix100 · 30/03/2020 22:15

A matter of hours had her 8.30pm and was asked what time I was going home the next morning.

yadayadayesokay · 30/03/2020 22:15

6 in total including first night labouring. Forceps, PPH & suspected infection for me & baby.

anonymum95 · 30/03/2020 22:15

14 hours, in at 4am gave birth at 10:16 and home at 6pmSmile

peajotter · 30/03/2020 22:16

Forceps, 24 hours total. 12 hours hospital labour, 12 hours recovery. Also desperate to get home, downing water to get the urine sample. I don’t like wards.

#2 was easy, about 6 hours total. #3 was in for 3 months. You just have to roll with it unfortunately.

Chiyo666 · 30/03/2020 22:16

3 weeks. Never make plans just incase!

newmummy8789 · 30/03/2020 22:16

I had him at 7pm was at home at 2pm the following day. I had to stay in due to blood loss, I think if they'd have let me I'd have gone home that night

thismeansnothing · 30/03/2020 22:17

Emergency section. 6 nights.

With my second a planned section 3 nights

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 30/03/2020 22:17

Went in at 7am, had her at 12, home by 6.30pm the same day so not overnight at all which was lovely

Lynda07 · 30/03/2020 22:18

Came home the day after.

mummabubs · 30/03/2020 22:18

4 days - 24 hours of induction/ labour and then 3 days of ward after forceps delivery and baby didn't want to latch. By that stage I was so desperate to get home I threatened to self-discharge. (I got virtually no sleep across any of the days just due to how loud and bright the hospital was, nevermind the newborn!)

bellinisurge · 30/03/2020 22:18

3 days. Got an unnoticed hospital born infection and was rushed back within 24 hours to stay another 7.
Fucking miserable.

Showmeyourhero · 30/03/2020 22:18

Failed induction then Emergency C-section, 5 Days / 4 nights Smile

peajotter · 30/03/2020 22:19

Also, it seemed to take an age before they did the tests, blood results etc to let me out. I’m guessing that might be much slower due to CV and the strain on other parts of the hospital. It can be frustrating when you’re all ready to leave.

Prepenultimate · 30/03/2020 22:19

With my first, spent less than 24 hours in hospital after the birth. Shortish labour- 8 hours, epidural. Gave birth 11pm ish so overnight stay inevitable. Released tea time next day- as soon as feeding established and I'd had a pee, or was it a bowel movement?????

YakkityYakYakYak · 30/03/2020 22:19

DD was born at 4am on a Monday morning and we left at 4pm on the Tuesday, So was there for 1.5 days. I was desperate to be discharged on the Tuesday morning and kept asking but it seemed to take all day to get round to it, can’t actually remember now why I wasn’t just allowed to leave

Purplequalitystreet · 30/03/2020 22:20

2 nights as had trouble establishing breastfeeding. They wanted me to stay in longer but I begged to go home. In hindsight I should have stayed another night. We never got feeding established after that

RefuseTheLies · 30/03/2020 22:20

A week Sad I had an infection, and my baby was in special care. It was not a fun time.

Seeline · 30/03/2020 22:20

Went in in labour Wednesday evening, born Friday morning. I was discharged following Wednesday, baby discharged following Friday.

WoollyFoolly · 30/03/2020 22:20

About 12 hours, but the birth was late at night so we left as soon as possible the next morning. Hated being in hospital and had two subsequent home births after that.

24hrs in hospital but only because I had gestational diabetes and baby had to be monitored for 24hrs. It was a fast easy birth and otherwise I could have been out in hours.

I opted to transfer to a fabulous local maternity unit though where I had another 3 days of exceptional breastfeeding support and postnatal care. It was epic and I’d have stayed longer tbh. We are very lucky in my area to be offered it

twinkletits99 · 30/03/2020 22:22

5 days because he was in the NICU. Then readmitted two weeks later due to sepsis and spent another week there. Bad times but all worth it.
