Just being nosey really. I imagine myself being really quiet but I know when I get there I'll probably be screaming my head off. Think it will shock DH! x

I thought everyone was laughing at me because I was so quiet. In reality witnesses agree I screamed f*ck repeatedly at the top of my voice for several hours. I did wonder why the entire staff of the unit came out to tell me how well I'd done as I left the next day...

I know what you mean about being in the zone. Although I was fairly loud during some of the pushing contractions, in between I completely withdrew and it was like I was in a dream.

I was fairly quiet and pretty serene with both DS1 and DS2. (DS3 was a section).

The midwives commented on how laidback I was about it all.

I defy anyone not to scream if they're having a limb amputated with no anaesthetic. That's how I felt - not to be repeated - ever.

I bit the gas and air mouthpiece thingie so hard it looked like a rabid rottweiler had been at it and the next day all my teeth hurt. I also burst the blood vessels in my forehead and neck.

Was going to type yeah right in response to cod but then I figured that fishes can't scream

Silent with beautific smile? Nope. Think screaming grovelling mess begging for gas and air to heartless sadistic bitchqueen midwives. That was me. Unfortunately.

In between begging for gas and air and pathetically begging my husband to knock me out, I distinctly remember being entirely puzzled as to how it was physically possible to be in so much pain without passing out.

So how is it possible to be in so much pain without passing out?

Twinkle, have an epidural next time. You won't feel a thing.

silent far better.

I stopped for a contraction on the way in with dd1 at the midwifes station. I remember thinking "what a ridiculous noise to be making" in a kind of, that's not how you behave in public way lol.

Do you not I really struggle to imagine Cod in labour and giving birth....I can't even imagine cod with a newborn. I know this is Mumsnet and all but cod just doesn't come across as being particularly maternal

I cannot believe that one reason I didn't have an epidural this time was being afraid of the needle fgs (and of getting that epidural headache thing that's really rare). But you know, IF I'm ever brave enough to do it again, the sadistic part of me might want to know what a normal labour is like. If the baby's ROA again though or already back to back I'd be demanding an epidural from the outset!

After several hours of labour, you won't even feel the epidural needle. i know I didn't and I'm no fan of needles.

ridiculous noise being the women who were shreiking at the tops of their voices btw.

On the other hand when I say i was mute I really was. I got out the bath and the midwife was requesting a nightshirt for me from DH.

He was rifling through the wrong back and trashing my gorgeously neatly laid out bag of stuff for the baby and all i could do was point in an angry fashion and stamp a bare foot which was pointless really
