Just being nosey really. I imagine myself being really quiet but I know when I get there I'll probably be screaming my head off. Think it will shock DH! x

With DS2 I was like a wild animal, DH had never heard such a noise in his life. DS2's birth was very quick.

With DS1 it was grunts, I was drugged up the eyeballs and the pushing stage had gone on for a very long time and I was extremely tired, had no energy to scream.

they say it's the quiet ones who scream.... I am a quiet one, never normally shout, get angry etc and screamed FFFUUUCCCKKK with every push - mw got quite pissed off with me and told me to save my energy for pushing not swearing - didnt stop me though

I growled and my teeth hurt for days after where I was gritting so hard. I was very proud that apparently I didn't swear once - not that it was a conscious effort but I thought that I would have slipped a few!

DS1 - nothing had a CS - very boring

DS2 - screamed and shouted a lot (no swearing though which suprised even myself LOL) every type of pain relief under the sun given (none worked properly though!)

DS3 - lots of screaming, and in the later stages it was interchanged with a sort of mooing/growling (the latter was most 'effecient' at helping but hard to do so got done less LOL). Just had Gas and Air but was shouting "I WANT AN EPIDURAL" after 2 1/2hrs in the hospital - only to be told it was too late

Lots of mooing and counting here (in 2 3 4, out 2 3 4 5 6 7 8)and the occasional swear. I found that the one time I had a shout, it hurt more because I wasn't breathing properly.

pretty much mute both times.

actually was mute until transition with dd1 when I ranted briefly but at normal voice level.

dd2 nothing apart from

  1. I can feel the head decending
  2. it's a bit sore (duh )
  3. a slightly strangled stop leaning on me please. 2nd midwife using me as a support while taking baby's hearbeat(was on hands and knees)

oh yeah and a don't touch me growled at touchy feely 2nd midwife when she arrived and attempted a hug. My own midwife knew me well and did one exam and feel about 2 contractions after asking permission.

Pretty quiet both times, other than cursing the midwives for telling me not to push with ds .

I had all manor of pain relief as was induced. Was non communicative with anyone until they put the epidural in then after that (says dh) I was sat upright chatting to anyone who'd listen!

dh did say 'you went very red when you were pushing.'

If you were tring to sh** a melon -wouldn't you be a little red?

I think I chanted ow ow ow ow lots but I don't think I was loud. In fact I know I wasn't loud as DP commented on the woman down the corridor who was apprently signficantly louder than I was and she was 3 doors away. And this was in an 'early labour' sideroom (I was post labour waiting to go to a ward)

Screamed like a woman possessed.Couldn't hear the midwifes instructions because of it and ended up ripped to shreds.
Also made weird deep grunting noises that I couldn't do again if I tried!

I screamed the place down early on when I was in the most horrendous agony imaginable and was denied any pain relief.

Was OK once I was allowed to get in the birthing pool and when I got some gas and air and a decent midwife.

I think I made quite a lot of noise during the pushing stage. But to be honest I think I was pretty well behaved considering I was pushing out a posterior baby for well over 3 hours with only gas & air. A consultant did tell me to be quiet because I was wasting my energy - bollocks to that, I was in agony. The midwife told me she thought she was well out of order.
