Who was present at your birth?

I would like my mum and partner present. I know people who have had friends present, aunts, and one had a doula. Out of pure curiosity, who did you have present at the birth of your child(ren) and why?

i had just my partner (babys father) for my first and plan on our friend or his sister in the room with my second!

my sister lives in florida and she ended up having our mom, dad, grandma, aunt, nana and i think someone else in the room o.o!

Husband and a lot of staff. I needed constant 1:1 monitoring when induced on the drip and it took a bloody age to get my baby out . It felt quite intimate having one person with you for so long- almost like an extra birth partner (think i had 2-3 midwives that swapped in/out). I also seemed to treat the anethnetist as my new best friend when he arrived. I was a bit high on the gas and air but I was gushing in how wonderful he was- he could have stayed for the rest of the time and I’d have been delighted.

Later on I needed an instrumental deliver and heamorraged and I just remember the room being full at that point but can’t remember how many people were there.

I couldn’t have had other family as well - it would have felt too much like a spectator sport.

For my first I had my husband and my mum. For the other two just my husband and relevant hospital staff

DH and various hospital staff (I ended up having an emergency c-section). I'm quite a private person with stuff like that, so didn't want anyone else there.

My partner, my mum and a (lovely) midwife.
