Hi everyone
Started having contractions at about 7pm, only coming every half hour or so so went to bed before 10.
Don't know how often they're coming (still not very often) but I can't sleep through them now. Plus they seem to go on for ages - I thought at this early stage they would be fairly quick.
I don't really know what I want to know except I thought I'd go to sleep and they'd be gone by the morning (was expecting to go 2 weeks overdue). Does this sound like it, or will it probably go on for the next 10 days?

i do hope so,, take it easy, listen to your body,,,and you;ll know when it is time...if tonight isn;t it, all the contractions will have helped to get baby lined up for birth, and softening and dilating the cervix ...so it is all good stuff x

MKG · 26/04/2007 23:21

Good luck!!

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 23:33

Thank you, although I'm still not convinced this is it! not for me anyway!

maveta · 27/04/2007 03:21

anyone awake??

liath · 27/04/2007 03:23

Just fed ds and waiting to see if he wants seconds.

Are you contracting again?

liath · 27/04/2007 03:32

Ooh, think he's going to sleep . Will no doubt be up later

maveta · 27/04/2007 03:37

Hi Liath - think more of my waters have gone.. had wet knickers and I definitely hadn´t peed myself.. went to the toilet for a wee and on my way back to bed felt my legs were wet again, have put clean knickers on and now they´re wet too but it´s very small amounts.

We are told to go into hospital straight away when waters break here but might try and convince dh for us to wait a wee bit. Having contractions that are making it hard to sleep but not majorly painful now I´m up..

JodieG1 · 27/04/2007 03:41

Just finishing feeding ds2 so off to bed soon again I hope but good luck, sounds like waters to me.

InTheseShoes · 27/04/2007 05:37

Good luck Katy44 and maveta, looks like you won't be joining us on the May thread after all! Looking forward to hearing all your news!

lulumama · 27/04/2007 07:13

ooooooohhhh !! babies are a-coming !!

Katy44 · 27/04/2007 07:31

No, I'm still here
Apparently I'm not in labour. At all.
1cm dilated and cervix still as thick as it ever was.
Was sent home and told to have some paracetemol and go to sleep. Well tried that all worked fine apart from every 3 minutes when I'd leap up in agony. If I'm not in labour, why am I having contractions???
The only good news was that the baby's head is 3/5 engaged, which apparently is fully engaged?? I'm confused as I assumed full would be 5/5, but anyway, she seemed pleased with it.

Surely it won't be long now if you've got so much action going on! Got my fingers crossed for you.

Katy44 · 27/04/2007 07:38

Thanks, but I'm so disappointed and in pain that I could cry This could go on for days, by the end of which I'll be a zombie. She did say incredibly helpfully that when I'm really in labour I'll KNOW.
In her defence she was really good, explained everything, very patient, I suppose that's another benefit, I've been and like the hospital.

Hey Katy, you still there?

eca · 27/04/2007 07:55

oh Katy my love. Just booted up laptop to see how you're all doing and saw your post. Oh honey, you will get there in the end. And I think it might mean that when it hots up properly you'll be able to cope better (coz you've been through this already) and that it might be quicker to progress. Not sure, but try to think positively hon. All this is your body doing something to get you ready for your little baby.

And on the whole "you'll know" thing. I DIDN'T!!! I didn't really know until I was in transition and starting to want to push. xx

Have you been up all night (not had chance to read the thread through yet)?

eca · 27/04/2007 07:57

maveta - are you still around? How's the contractions/ waters?? xx

liath · 27/04/2007 07:59

Katy, how rotten. Hopefully all these practice runs will make labour more efficient when it finally gets going. Really feel for you.

eca · 27/04/2007 08:01

xx

Katy44 · 27/04/2007 08:17

Thanks - anything covered in chocolate always helps.
I got about an hour and a hlaf sleep broken a few times by the pain which just made me need to get up and walk about. Although I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had a sleepless night

OP posts:
Katy44 · 27/04/2007 08:23

That last contraction made me scream and cry. I never thought I had a low pain threshold but I don't know whether I can do this any more

OP posts:
eca · 27/04/2007 08:24

Are you going to try and get some sleep this morning? Or are they too painful still? What did the mw at the hospital advise?
