EDD this friday
Homebirth planned

Been getting mighty Braxton Hicks for weeks as per with ds and dd.

Today been quiet BH wise until 6pm when bam 15 mins apart, quite strong powerful pressure ones began.
These have continued through dinner/bath/laying/sitting/gym ball etc
now am 8 mins aprt, still managing ok but harder to get through.
Am almost too scared to bloody hope this might be it....
DD and DS were fast labours. With both I woke up as contractions got 5 minutes apart
I've never been awake for first stage as yet...

odds anyone?

8 mins apart!!! Id say get to the hospital asap

lulumama · 19/03/2007 22:08

sounds promising....

just go with the flow, and you'll know when it is time for the midwife...

keep your fluids up, potter round, have another bath if you feel like, and listen to what your body is telling you..

Littlefish · 19/03/2007 22:08

Phone midwife to pre-warn!

Good luck Piffle. News by morning I reckon

lulumama · 19/03/2007 22:08

honey in warm water is a good energy boost...

pookey · 19/03/2007 22:08

Call the hospital and speak to a midwife so they know something is happening, they will advise you and assess how you sound. Poss they will suggest taking some paracetomol and going to bed then send someone in the morning to check on you if you havent already rang them to say things have speeded up. Is this your first homebirth?

Dottydot · 19/03/2007 22:08

oooh Piffle - how exciting!!! GOOD LUCK and I hope this is it - only because it'll be a right old pain if it all dies down and you have to wait for another few days..! Fingers crossed there's good news in the morning and I hope you get your home birth! Have you got someone with you?

jamiesamfreddie · 19/03/2007 22:09

ooh, how exciting (sp?). Hope you have got everything ready at home. Can you talk through the 'bh's'? If not, then I'd say they are real contractions! Good luck. Phone your MW!

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awful night. Regular and properly sore until 1am then getting irregular.

Had them on and off through the night along with hideous heartburn.

Still getting irregular but powerful ones now, no way can sit through them, hurt all the way down my legs and butt.

Another one of my legendary pre labours methinks

I'm sooo fed up though

Hey i have the same EDD Piffle!! Hope you get some more positive & productive contractions soon. The waiting game is the worst i know & feeling all these cramps & BH's. Especially for you as you have quick labours so you don't know when best to call the midwife.
I have low backache now and i wonder if things are moving along to labour now for me too. I'm trying so hard to ignore all twinges BH's & stuff but DS isn't here as i overdid the Nesting yesterday by over zealous cleaning etc MIL has him for the day So without him as a distraction I'm noticing every little ache & pain. I promised myself i wouldn't but it's easier said than done especially in the middle of the night for you? Bet you're shattered today?

lulumama · 20/03/2007 12:24

honey...it is coming soon ! promise ! keep your energy up, rest, eat and drink and do what you feel like X

Piffle · 20/03/2007 13:00

I'm shattered am able to coerce dd(4) into bed at 2pm for a couple of hours so will try to catch up then
Have dusted and done washing today, have had some mighty pains and cramps, then a respite

So it's stop start for me I guess. At some point they'll just keep going I expect.

When I have gone into labour both times before I literally woke up with 5 mins apart soon racing to 3
Both born within an hour of that point
So yes I ama little... is it isn't it...
Dp isn't helping my paranoia, banning me from walking the dogs today....

Piffle just remember that the pre labour, all build up, is doing valuable work. Whether it's positioning, softening or opening, the work your body is putting in here is all 'in the bank'. Just because it stops again doesn't mean it's time wasted.

With my 3rd and 4th I had a frustrating, long stop start bit at the begining followed by a sudden whoooooooooosh and out they came.

Your certainly not far off.

Best of luck with the home birth.

lulumama · 20/03/2007 15:19

definitely , spidermama.....sis was in slow stop start labour for 2 days with her first, then he came in a respectable 7 hours once she was in established labour !

Piffle · 20/03/2007 15:27

I know you're right as this has been the case both times before
But I am so tired..........
