EDD this friday
Homebirth planned

Been getting mighty Braxton Hicks for weeks as per with ds and dd.

Today been quiet BH wise until 6pm when bam 15 mins apart, quite strong powerful pressure ones began.
These have continued through dinner/bath/laying/sitting/gym ball etc
now am 8 mins aprt, still managing ok but harder to get through.
Am almost too scared to bloody hope this might be it....
DD and DS were fast labours. With both I woke up as contractions got 5 minutes apart
I've never been awake for first stage as yet...

odds anyone?

Crazy I said to dp the other day

I cannot wait for this baby to be out so I cna get some sleep

He just looked at me with an eyebrow up...
I then realised how stupid I sounded

I do sleep better with an infant attached to my breast than I do with one inside my tummy

Oh am getting a burning pain around my belly button area is this just stretching?

I know exactly what you mean Piffle about sleeping better with the baby out - I was exactly the same. No pain and could get comfy again. I remember lying in hospital after she was born and being ridiculously pleased that I could lie on my stomach again.

Good luck, sounds like things are moving along for you.

Piffle · 20/03/2007 15:57

Thanks
I look forward to 3 days of sleeping on my tummy again before boobs explode and fill making it impossible once more...

lol Piffle I had forgotten about that
Amazing how time dulls the memory

Piffle · 20/03/2007 16:06

lucky it does, or we'd all stop at one

How's it going piffle? I guess one bonus is that as its a homebirth you dont need to worry about when to go to hospital.

lulumama · 20/03/2007 20:19

vibbbbbbbbeeeeeeeeeeessssssss for piffle x

talcyone · 20/03/2007 20:24

Piffle · 21/03/2007 10:22

well was up all night with almighty contractions, puling through my back, groin and tum, unable to be slept or lain through
Losing loads of mucous etc

Not any rhythm to them though, about 5 of them 5 mins apart, then back to 15 mins, the every 30 mins. All I know is I got shag all sleep.
I know last wks appt midwife said baby was 4/5ths engaged and cervix was very favourable.

Worth begging for a sweep or not?

OP posts:
CheesyFeet · 21/03/2007 10:24

A sweep wouldn't hurt I think (well it might a but but ykwim)

Sounds like you are ripe and ready for popping

Best of luck for an easy delivery

Thinking of you

(I love these threads )

Piffle · 21/03/2007 10:29

Well if it keeps you sane then why not

Take comfort in the fact that you are keeping is all on tenterhooks

vvvvviiiiibbbbbeeeeeeesssss

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Spidermama · 21/03/2007 14:22

I reckon piff once you get going it'll be with a vengeance.

IU would avoid any intervention (sweep) if poss because it can make things more painful can't it?

Just my thoughts. I'm very much a STAY AWAY FROM ME!!! type of gal during my labours.

Good luck.

Time to visualise the ripples from pebbles thrown into water and the slow opening of roses etc.

Spidermama · 21/03/2007 14:23

One fab tip given to me by wise woman .... your lips are like your fanny and mirror it. This is a good indicator in labour. Make sure your lips are wobbly and relaxed. Keep checking them for tension. This exercise may involve strange noises, but since you're going for a home birth you can make whatever darn noises you choose.

lulumama · 21/03/2007 14:24

you are having a show and BH , which could well kick off into the real thing ! try some sex and nipple stim..

a sweep will set you off if you were going to go in tehnext day or two !! BUT BUT BUT sometimes your water can get broken, which might have repercussions for the home birth, so i;d leave well alone as sounds like you are going to get there yourself !

xx

talcyone · 21/03/2007 14:37

at wise woman's advice

Yes talcyone I went to the hut at the top of the hill outside the village where the toothless old hag waited by the fire to impart on me the words of wisdom.

Flamesparrow · 21/03/2007 15:01

beg for sweep!

lulumama · 21/03/2007 16:07

all you want, but spider and i speaketh the truth !!

a sweep irritates the cervix and stimulates the release of hormones - prostoglandins and oxytocin.both of which ripen the cervix and cause contractions, which can be done with sex and nipple stim ...

so there !

and the loose mouth loose fanjo theory is true..read anything by ina may gaskin if you don;t believe spidermama;s toothless crone !
